Warning problems of the 2019 Honda Odyssey - part 2

The front facing multi purpose camera is defective with a replacement cost of $1800-$2000. It controls all the lane assist, cruise control, braking functions of the vehicle.

5 emergency lights came on at the same time, we went to the Honda dealer and the problem is the front camera, they told us there, for the diagnosis it was $250 dollars and if we want to fix it it would be $1900, I think that Honda should cover that because it is a car with only 30,000 miles, it is a very expensive repair for a car that is not that old.

While driving the car brakes hard when it thinks that it is going to hit another car even though there is not another car around. We have almost been in multiple accidents because of it. When driving down a winding lane it often shakes the wheel although we are not departing lanes. We do not feel safe while driving the car with this safety feature.

C/s multiple sensors are blinking, such as lane assist, collision control, auto headlight sensor, acc, etc. Those may be due to the windshield camera. Retrieved multiple dtcs. Cleared all dtcs and rechecked. Dtc u3000-49 multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure came back on. Performed trouble shooting procedure for dtc u3000-49 and found a faulty multipurpose camera. Recommend to replace multipurpose camera first and recheck.

The camera that controls all the advanced driver assistance system fails intermittently. This causes 5 different warnings to come on and all of the safety features bases on this camera to stop working. This is an ongoing issue. An internet search shows that there are multiple Honda vehicles with this problem.

Several warning lights turned on. Emissions system problem, transmission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, hill start assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. Steering becomes really difficult, reverse and forward gives out and really hard to control vehicle. Not able to accelerate. This problem happened out of nowhere no issues prior to the lights coming on. This has been happening for the past 8 months I have to unplug the battery so the codes erase and the car starts driving normal then 2 days later they come back and car wont accelerate or would have hard time picking up speed I researched and other owners of similar vehicles have the same issues as mines.

The multipurpose camera is failing intermittently causing 4 major systems to fail.

5 system warnings starting appearing simultaneously (adaptive crusise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem). This started a few months ago and occurs every time the car is started, and the errors do not go away after driving for several hours. I have checked all appropriate fuses, as well as the car battery and all seem fine. An internet forum search shows this specific issue is widespread with 2018-2020 Honda Odysseys, but is not being addressed satisfactorily by dealers.

Car randomly started giving a failed warning sign that the lkas system has an error. Took it to dealer and they say that the radar and the camera need to be replaced for 4000$. This is so completely random. It just broke on its own. . Read more...

These safety features do not function on this vehicle. Issue warning lights when car is started.

The van suddenly started randomly throwing up a series of 5 different codes, all relating to the forward camera system. It will appear and disappear at random, showing lane keeping assist, forward collision system, adaptive cruise control, automatic dimming headlights and lane departure system failed. There are tons of issues with the car having bad cables/terminals for the rear camera, a/v systems, and sxm antenna, but Honda refuses to admit that the front camera issue is related.

Front "camera"/sensor went out, this caused all of the errors to come up and ding repeatedly while driving at a high speed on the interstate. Honda says they won't cover however, this is a safety issue with lots of reports of the same issue in a quick google search.

There has been no incident. And I hope there is not. But the forward camera that assists in the road departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation and lane keeping assist has failed. Also inoperative is the cruise control, auto dimming headlamps and the brake system light is on. I find it hard to believe that after some of the less critical recalls that have been sent out for this vehicle that they don’t address this very important safety system. The camera alone costs $800 and that doesn’t include the cost of installation and calibration. I have a family of six and we use this van extensively. But we cannot afford this repair and are forced to drive with all of these lights on in the instruments. We take extremely good care of our vehicles. It is serviced well and has been in no major accidents. Please help us get action for ourselves and others who are in danger.

Warning light turn on without any cause. No accident involve. Just happen overnight.

Over the last three weeks, there were 3 incidents where the emergency braking system spiked the brakes when there was no reason. There was one incident where the lane departure spiked the brakes for no reason. Over the first 5 years owning the vehicle, this never happened. The first incident was going around a curve on a 2-lane road I travel at least twice a day. It sometimes beeps for cars in the other lane, but has never spiked the brakes until now. The car in the other lane was not over the line. There was a car behind us and they almost hit us due to the rapid braking. Incident 2 was on a straght road when there was a right lane closure with orange cones gradually blocking the lane. I started moving to the left lane well in advance and was most of the way in the lane when the brakes spiked. There was no oncoming traffic, but a car behind me had to brake hard to avoid hitting me. Incident 3 was similar to incident 2, except there was a box in the road. With a straight road and no oncoming traffic, I was fully in the left lane, avoiding the box, when the brakes spiked. The 4th incident involved spiking the brakes with a lane departure warning. I was going around a curve that I travel at least twice a day. The road was clear and no traffic coming the other way. Going around the left curve in full control, the right lane departure warning sounded and spiked the brakes. The brakes had never applied before in a lane departure scenario. I took the van to the dealer and they made it sound normal, like four improper emergency braking incidents in 3 weeks was a regular occurrence. They tried to duplicate the issue and checked the computer for codes, but found nothing. This does not seem normal to me and is a safety issue that could cause an accident if the car spikes the brakes for no reason like this and someone is following closely, not expecting me to stop.

The multipurpose camera in the front windshield has failed, causing the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and correction, forward collision to fail. Even the non-acc cruise control is locked out due to the failed camera. Honda will charge ~ $1800 to replace, and I can’t afford that. Problem confirmed by ian’s of broken arrow. They confirmed it was the camera and not the radar unit. The failure of the camera causes a host of persistent dashboard warnings, but none preceded the failure.
