Wiper problems of the 2020 Honda Odyssey

Associated recall: 26v-423 (rearview camera cable harness) description of safety defect & insufficient recall remedy: I am filing this complaint to report that the current manufacturer remedy for recall 26v-423 is insufficient due to a related, pre-maturely failing structural component that Honda is failing to address. The rear window seal for the glass sliding door (Honda part # 73220-thr-a01) on this generation of the Honda Odyssey is made of a defective rubber material. On my vehicle, this seal is prematurely disintegrating into small shreds [optional: see attached photos]. This degraded seal allows water to seep directly into the rear camera housing area. While the recent recall may have replaced or repaired the immediate rearview camera wiring, the ongoing water intrusion caused by this disintegrating window seal will inevitably cause the new camera components to fail again. Fixing the camera without addressing the root cause—the failing rubber seal letting water in—makes the current recall remedy entirely temporary and insufficient. Nhtsa needs to investigate part number 73220-thr-a01 and compel Honda to issue an expanded recall to replace this seal with a higher-quality, weather-resistant material to prevent future safety failures of the backup camera system. I have already reported this issue to the service advisor on oct 12 2026 at ourisman Honda of woodbrige va and they said they cannot help me with it and recall is not addressing the windshield molding on the rear sliding door of the minivan.

Dealership has not resolved the problem since they are waiting for parts.

Backup camera stopped working for no reason, says camera system failure and is a black screen. Research says this is a recall but my dealership says it is not.

Rear tailgate window spontaneously shattered.

The outside mirrors had a recall for potential detachment. My driver's side mirror detaches sometimes even after the replacement. When I contacted Honda over this issue, they told me that they can't take my complaint and I should go back to the dealer which replaced it.

I had a recall on my 2020 Honda Odyssey VIN # 5fnrl6h74lb012726 for NHTSA recall # 23v-431. The recall was for rear camera failure. The fix was to replace most cable harness. In early October 2023 my rear view camera did fail and no longer conformed to federal motor vehicle safety standard no 111, “rear visibility” I took my Honda Odyssey to serra brighton Honda for repair , serra brighton Honda replaced the cable and it did not fix the problem. I was told it was the camera which was not part of the recall and was charged $302. 42 for replacement of the camera, invoice # 341002. It only seems logical to me that if “rear visibility” is a federal motor vehicle safety standard , the camera should have been included as part of the fix. It could have been possible that the cable shorted out and damaged the camera’s electronics. My Honda only has 21,500 miles and is always stored in a garage and has never been in an accident.

I was sold a car with an active recall, that came out on 7/28. I purchased the car on 8/13 and had no idea about the recall. . . I am extremely upset that I was sold an unsafe vehicle and for a recall that could affect the safety of my wife and children.
