3 Air Brake problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/13/2010

2007 Odyssey with soft brakes. The recall fix was done in summer 2010. About late November 2010 early December 2010, I noticed the brakes felt soft again. On 12/13/2010, I took car into Honda dealership for a rotation/oil change and to check the brakes. Again, there was air in the brake line. The same problem again that the recall solution was supposed to fix. Supposedly it was fixed this time. I drove it home, about 6 miles, and parked it for about 5 minutes. My wife got in the vehicle and drove about 1 mile when she called saying the brakes were randomly going from really soft to her not being able to press the brake pedal an inch. She immediately parked the car and was scared to death. Ultimately, we had it towed back to the same Honda dealership. Prior to the tow, the vsa light and vsa indicator stayed on and then went off. All this info was provided to "mike" at the Honda dealership. . . Immediately. . . And I mean immediately. . . Honda agreed to pay the tow, fix the problem and provide me a rental. The car is to be fixed on 12/14/2010. This is not good. Honda corporate. . . . . Are you listening. . . . You have a serious problem. . . You know it. . . . Fix it before you end up in court paying millions in miserable comfort to relatives of lost loved ones. . . By the way my wife and kids are in that vehicle everyday. . . Get my point?.

5 Air Brake problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/12/2010

On July 12, 2010, I took our 2007 Honda Odyssey) mel rapton Honda for the brake recall requested by Honda America. I was called at 12:20 p. M. By your service department and advised that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. At 2:00 p. M. , I arrived, picked up the vehicle and proceeded to maita Toyota to pick up my husband where he was having our Toyota serviced. As I approached the very first stop light at fulton and the entrance to I-80, I applied the brakes and with my foot pressed completely to the floor and the vehicle did not stop. I ran the stop light, and was very fortunate that I did not hit anyone. At the second light I came upon at auburn and fulton was green and I made a right hand turn into the Toyota dealership where I once again could not stop the vehicle and hit the concrete parking barrier, scratching the front right bumper. I promptly called my husband and informed him I thought something was wrong with the vehicle, but was not sure what to do since my assumption was the brakes were fully inspected and functional prior to me leaving mel rapton Honda. I called back to mel rapton service department, leaving a message for the service advisor anthony motley that something was not right with my brakes. The service advisor called me back asking that I drive the car back to mel rapton, even though I stated I believed that I had no functional brakes beyond the emergency brake. I cauiously drove the vehicle back, I had to apply the emergency brakes twice in order stop the vehicle and avoid running any more red lights or hitting other vehicles. I was shocked that your service advisor suggested that I drive the vehicle back to the dealership when there was some problem with the braking system. The vsa modulator light came on as I drove the vehicle back. They said they "repaired" the vsa and brakes, but never the damage to the front of the vehicle, mel rapton refuses to respond to requests for repairs and Honda America isn't helping.

6 Air Brake problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/10/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. While braking from approximate speeds of 45 mph, the brakes fell much farther into the floorboard than usual. He assumed the failure had occurred due to depressing both the brake and accelerator pedal simultaneously. The dealer made unknown repairs under NHTSA campaign id number: 10v098000 (service brakes, air) but the failure persisted. The contact stated the failure would occur whenever the brakes were depressed. The vehicle was neither repaired nor diagnosed for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000 and the current mileage was 34,900.

7 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/25/2010

[xxx] June 8, 2010 ref. VIN # [xxx] Honda case # [xxx] to all concerned, this letter is to explain the events that has led to me now having to take this issue to a more elevated level. At the end of October of 2008 my wife, mother and 3 children went to coggin Honda located at 11051 s. Orange blossom trail, orlando, fla. 32837 (tel. 407-851-9118) to look at the Odyssey minivans. We were approached by sales & leasing consultant chester heath: cell [xxx] (no longer there) and he showed us around and met with finance manager francis rosario : cell [xxx] who financed us. About a week after driving it around I started to notice that it was making a noise when braking, a hard grinding noise (still making this noise to this day). I also noticed that it was making a clicking sound when making radius turns (since fixed by classic Honda by fixing the front axle in November 2009) . Also there was and still is a rattle by the steering wheel. My main concern however is the braking noise which at the beginning would come and go. It now does it almost every time I brake. That has been part of the problem, it comes and goes. So I told my wife about the noise that the car made and she suggested I call coggin Honda to at least let it be known on record about the problem. I then called coggin that week and the person I spoke to said to just simply come by and we will have a look at it. Since it did not always happen I thought to myself that it was a new car just getting settled. So I probably waited a few months (about Jan. 2009) and then it started to make the noise on a constant basis and realized that this problem was not going away. I then brought the car to coggin and spoke with service advisor fritz ray (no longer there) and of course it did not make the noise at that time and because there was no noise they could. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

11 Air Brake problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

My 2006 Honda Odyssey has a problem with the brake feeling 'soft'. I have to press the brake almost to the floor to stop the car. This is similar to the recall for the same model from 2007 to 2008. However, dealership will not fix this issue because our car is from 2006 model year.

12 Air Brake problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/09/2010

My 2005 Honda Odyssey van did not stop while I was braking during a stop at a traffic light. The brakes got to the floor and I hit the car in front of me causing a minor traffic accident. I have not taken it to the dealer yet but I have scheduled an appt. I was found "at-fault" and the vehicle I hit received compensation for collision. 14 Air Brake problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/23/2010

I was driving down a hill and had to stop suddenly and it took my van about 6-8 feet to come to a complete stop. I had to apply pressure with both feet. I had to turn the wheel to the left to avoid rear-ending a truck. This is the second time that this has happened with this van while going down hill. The first time, in 2008, resulted in a rear-end collision. The first time it happened I did not realize that there was something wrong with my brakes. The second time, I had to turn my steering wheel again the same way to avoid an accident. It seems the brakes don't catch when going down a hill and need to come to a quick stop.

15 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/20/2009

Brakes are too soft. Had accident twice already because brakes dont react like they are suppose to. You have to push the brake down really hard. With that also said transmission has been a problem since day 1. You hear a loud noise when you change gears. Went to the Honda dealer and they said its normal. I dont think this should be making loud grunting noise.

16 Air Brake problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/29/2009

I was trying to trying to stop my 2007 Honda Odyssey very quickly to avoid hitting the car in front of me and hit the brakes only to have nothing happen. The car wouldn't stop until it hit the car in front - the pedal was to the floor. I had previously talked with Honda about the brake pads and researched online and discovered "squishy" brake problems, but no solutions. After the accident I talked with Honda who was just releasing a safety recall for low/soft brake pedal : "air may enter the modulator due to improper sealing material of the vsa modulator control unit". They bled brakes using special procedure and installed (2) modulator sealing caps over the two (2) plugs on the sides of the vsa modulator-control unit to correct per bulletin 1030a5 (element) . 6 & 4130a5 (odyssey) . 7.

17 Air Brake problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/11/2005

I purchased a new 2005 Honda Odyssey ex-l in December 2004, and I have experienced multiple incidents in which the brakes make a very loud grinding noise with medium hard braking. The grinding has not resulted in any apparent loss of braking ability or loss of control however this is a concern to me since I drive with a 5 year old in my care. I took the Odyssey to the service center in may o5 for this issue and they replaced the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors. Again this month (July) I noticed the problem again, I took it in two days ago and Honda refuses to fix the problem saying that I have to wait until September to have the issue resolved. They tell us that they won't have the parts in until then. I feel that they are avoiding the fixing the problem as to avoid the lemon law since this is their second time fixing this problem. I have brought the vehicle in for several other issues before this such as broken cd player. . . . Slow draining of battery, and problems with dvd and vehicle interior. Overall I am very concererned when my car is having problems with the brakes and this company refuses to fix the problem. . . . . I am scared to drive this vehicle but do not have the money for a rental until September.

18 Air Brake problem of the 2000 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/14/2002

Vehicle rear-ended part way into right turn pushing vehicle into another vehicle parked at stop sign. Right front of our vehicle collides with parked vehicle and immediately engine begins racing and our vehicle, through quick manuevering by my wife who was driving, the vehicle races down the highway. Applying brakes did not stop the vehicle. I was the passenger and I quickly turned off the ignition. My wife was able to stop the vehicle about 500 feet down the road. In addition to the racing engine, the vehicle could not be taken out of drive when we finally stopped. Air bags never deployed although the is extensive right front end damage. It was fortunate that the accident took place on a rural highway, and the road was clear. The accident took place in friendship/adams WI. Vehicle towed on 18 oct to hytech carstar in elgin, 847. 742. 6969. Our insurance is state farm. Dt.
