1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2015

I was in my driveway, applying brakes as I began coasting to a stop in front of my house when the car suddenly accelerated smashing into the front of my house. Middle of the day, no rain, not impaired, flat driveway. Air bags did not activate. Paint/scratches on the front bumper and cracks on the house stucco but no major damage. Acceleration started just a couple yards from the house. Honda dealership could not find any evidence of a computer or other problem.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

The keys for the 2012 Honda Pilot are very cheaply made. Our vehicle was purchased in December 2011. After two years of normal driving, the plastic key fob part of the key started to crack and eventually broke in half. The key is now useless. Replacement keys are $200 at the dealer which requires an hour appointment to program a new key. Keys should last the life of the vehicle, not two years.
