1 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2024 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/02/2025

There are two occurances 1-8/2/2025 while traveling down highway 69 over i40, at 75 mph, the right rear tire blew. It was not a slow release, but rather a boom and then all kinds of noise. The car was hard to control but there was no accident. Had it been a front tire. . . . The sidewall blew out. If I had run over something, my wife or I should have seen it and they tear would be in the other direction. I replaced two tires at that point. 2-8/25/2025 while in florida, 1000 miles from home, I noticed I had a low left rear (driver) tire. I got some air to last overnight and parked the car. The next morning I drove to a tire shop. They pull the wheel off and let the air out of the tire. When they used the machine to break the bead lose, the whole flat square metal piece pushed through the sidewall of the tire. I have pictures of both tires. The tire are actually a hankook dynapro hp2 but was not listed. They are a 255/60r18 108h.

2 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 05/04/2024

Traveling at 35mph in village. My passenger and I attest there was no road hazard. The tire popped and I managed to drive about 70 yards to a parking lot to change my tire. It had a clean tear on the inside sidewall. The tear had no marks made against it. I'm complaining since I see there have been 2 other similar complaints about this tire on this website.

5 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 11/03/2021

Continental cross contact lx sport tire size 245/50 r 20 102h has a crack on the sidewall, which caused sudden air loss. I can see there are recalls for Pilot tires. I think this tire should be reviewed as well.

6 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/05/2021

Tire size 245/50r20102h cross contact lx sport on Honda Pilot 2021. Vehicle was purchased in late June 2021, tire side wall exploded on 8/5/21. There was no pot hole, etc. Just exploded with about a 5 inch gash in the sidewall. There are recalls all around the date my tires were manufactured, however, somehow there is no warranty on mine?? I have a receipt where I paid a Honda dealership $341. 82 for the repair. I did not repair the rim, but it is also slightly damaged. When the explosion happened, I almost hit another car in the lane beside me. I had to really hold onto the wheel to keep it in my lane. I am very concerned for my safety and my kid's safety as I now have to ride on the same tires with similar dates of the recalls. I saw where there was a recall of these tires in Nov 2020, and then again in Feb 2021 where thousands more were affected. . . . Except nothing about mine. Strange. Attempts at dealing with the dealership or continental have not worked at all. There were no reports filed, no attempts to even look at the situation. If my tire did the same thing as the recall, then there should be a recall on that tire as well. But how do you start a recall?? you would think if another tire was affected, they would want to know and care. My dot dates are 0721, 0721, 0621, and 3420 is my new tire for some strange reason. South carolina does not keep track of dot dates, so how do I know that my tire before was not affected? I do not even know the date of the repaired one. They told me at the dealership after the fact, that they do no keep records on dot numbers. Then, how do they keep track of the recall using my VIN number if they don't keep track of it. I am very concerned that this is being overlooked by Honda and continental. I saw they even did a news piece on it. How much does it take? I have all receipts etc, however it will not upload as I have an iphone and it does not accept heic pics .

8 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2009 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/20/2015

Michelin ltx ms 245/65r17. 61,000 mile, 4 months to 5 years after installed. Found small cracks on tread and sidewall because of dry rot. And tires lost pressure quickly. Remained 4/32" tread, but fear to potential danger. I'm in ohio, the rubber suppose not to dry rot so quickly. I called michelin customer care, they said tires passed 60k warranty. I mentioned them that this problem is not related to millage, but time. I believe that the problem is material that dry rots too quickly.

9 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2009 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 09/16/2011

We were told during a routine rotate and balance service that the tires had cracks in the sidewall and tread area. We have experienced several times sudden air pressure loss during extreme weather temperature swings. We have had the tires checked for punctures and the alloy rims checked for possible holes or defects. I then approached the dealership and (a michelin retailer). Both establishments indicated they did not handle original equipment warranty issues. I contacted michelin who referred me to ntb which confirmed the tire issue. After two calls to michelin I was able to finally got them to give me a 60% good will credit on replacement tires. The tires had only been on the vehicle for two years and four months. They had at least 50-60% tread life remaining. Michelin was more interested in making excuses than trying to address the problem. 10 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2011 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/17/2011

I drive a 2011 Honda Pilot. It was purchased new. On the morning of June 7, 2011, a family member discovered that the vehicle, which was in the driveway of the house, had a flat in the front, driver-side tire. The vehicle was placed on a flat bed and taken to a local mechanic. Upon inspection, the mechanic noted that there was a puncture to the sidewall of the tire which should not be repaired. A replacement tire was purchased and the old one was discarded. I speculated that road hazard may have caused the puncture, so did not think much about filing a complaint. The tire had about 6,183 miles on it the time of the incident. On the evening of June 17, 2011, as I was driving along the tappan zee bridge (connecting rockland and westchester counties) in new york, the tire warning indicator went on. Upon my arrival at home (about an 8-minute drive from the bridge), I noticed a hissing sound coming from the rear, driver-side tire and immediately concluded that the tire was deflating. The following morning the tire was flat. After installing the spare, I took the tire to a goodyear dealer. Upon inspection, the mechanic noted that there was a puncture to the sidewall of the tire which should not be repaired, which was the same issue discovered with the front, driver-side tire. I replaced it with a new tire. The tire had approximately 6,500 miles on it the time of the incident. This time I filed a complaint since it was highly coincidental that two tires would fail within a 10-day period with the same fact pattern. I suspect that the vehicle came installed with at least two tires that had weak sidewalls.

12 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2005 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/08/2007

On Thursday, February 8, 2007, I was driving on I-75 at 6:20am and the right rear tire of my 2005 Honda Pilot ex-l blew. The side wall had a large hole in it. Fortunately, I did not have an accident and was able to pull to the side of the road safely. The tire had 43,303 miles on it with a substantial amount of tread left. The temperature was 4 degrees at the time and I did not run over an object. The tire dealer that I went to stated that there was a substantial amount of tread left on the other 3 tires. However, I am concerned about the same thing potentially happening to the remaining tires. The tire is a goodyear integrity (size: p235/70r16). Has there been a recall on this tire? if so please advise as to what my options are.
