general problems of the 2006 Honda Ridgeline

Takata recall - when I called the Honda dealership in ames they said they could not find my information in their data base. After I gave them my phone number, name, and VIN number. I took it to the local mechanic and he could not get the brakes adjusted to where there was not very much play in the pedal. You have to push down a long ways for the brakes to engage. It is a big safety issue.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. While driving approximately 50 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear driver side of the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control and crashed into a guardrail. The contact stated that the brakes were engaged, but failed to respond as the vehicle continued to accelerate against the guardrail for up to one mile. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle stopped after being turned off. A police report was filed an no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed and repaired; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000.

The brakes on my 2006 Honda Ridgeline have never worked right despite numerous visits to the dealer. One has to pump the brakes at some stops to keep the pedal from hittting the floor. On one occasion, I was towing a light trailer and the truck would not stop causing a minor accident.
