1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2023

My hood is subtly bouncing at speeds over 55mph. I see that many pilots, Ridgelines, etc. Had recalls about the hood latch. I searched to see if my car was on the recall list for that after experiencing the hood bouncing, but it was not; however, it is concerning. I have not had my truck inspected yet, as I just bought it. There are no lights, messages etc. Should I be concerned or take it in?.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2022

The backup camera has stopped working, at least the imaging part. This makes backing up riskier, especially in parking lots, driveways or where pedestrians may be behind me. I have not been to the dealership yet as it failed today but this seems a common complaint for Ridgeline owners online. I have not had others inspect this problem yet. There was no warning, yesterday worked fine, today it doesn't work. I took a picture of the broken wiring harness at the corner of the tailgate, looks same as what I found online. Truck is a 2018 model with between 70 and 80k miles.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2022

Rear safety camera does not work and can be inspected. Cannot see via camera when backing up. Has not yet been inspected by anyone but myself and no outside party has yet been contacted. There were no warning signs other than black screen when in reverse. Broken wires can be visibly seen at driver's side tailgate hinge point. Appears to be flawed design that does not allow for sharp bending of wires on repeated usage of tailgate.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2022

The rear camera shows black when shifting into reverse. Upon checking it appears the wire harness that contains the wiring from the camera to the dash is cracked. P/n32109-t6z-a00. Approximately 40 other vehicles in the 2017-2018 years have experienced the same problem.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? rear camera wire harness has failed. When vehicle is in reverse the screen displays a black image. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Please see attached image. These wires are visible when the tailgate is open. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the rear camera adds tremendous safety information as I reverse the vehicle. In every situation this information is valuable; more so in a neighborhoods like the one I live in. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no. I will mention it during my next routine service. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, first signs were the camera would fail sporadically , now almost permanently. Sometimes after opening/closing the tailgate the camera will work until the tailgate is opened again.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2022

I have had 2 windshields crack in this vehicle. I had to have it replaced 2 years ago when a small rock cracked the entire bottom of the glass. The 2nd incident happened on July 2nd, 2022. A rock hit the windshield in the mirror area and caused a huge chip. I do not think this is normal. It sounded like a small explosion when it hit.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2022

A fire started in the engine compartment of the 2018 Honda Ridgeline. The vehicle was being driven while towing a lightweight trailer. The driver pulled over to allow vehicles to pass and check the trailer. The driver allowed the engine to idle. As the driver returned to the vehicle she smelled and saw smoke then saw flames appearing from under the hood near the windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle. Recall work was performed under NHTSA recall 19v-053 10/09/2019.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2022

2018 Honda Ridgeline rear back up camera has stopped working 04/02/22. Seems to be a common issue. Clearly can see damage to wires from the tail gate.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2022

My backup camera has stopped working only a month after buying the vehicle. The issue is consistent with others filed against Honda for this model, with the wires clearly severed due to how it was manufactured in the tailgate door. Honda refuses to cover the repair despite this being a known complaint.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2022

The wire harness connecting the backup camera wears upon repeated use of the tailgate and breaks the wires inside the harness. This renders the camera inoperative and creates a hazard to surrounding people because they are not visible if behind the vehicle when the vehicle is in the process of backing.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2022

Back up camera periodically fails. Noticed it today but has happened off and on for the past year.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2021

Failure of backup camera wire harness at tail gate hinge area. 2018 Ridgeline at approx 26,000 miles, light duty use. Backup camera became intermittent, then failed. Dealership service said harness has failed, no kidding. Wire harness has sheared in area due to opening tailgate……. This is a two direction tailgate, drop down and swing out. Wire harness wires been sheared, cable protective jacket has been cut due to normal opening operation. As a engineer with many years of experience in medical device manufacturing; this is clearly a defect related to weak construction, poor harness routing and mis-assembly. Overall, a extremely poor design……. Leading to premature failure…this should have not been allowed…. . …this is a safety issue due to lack of backup camera……there is already a class action law suit in process in the state of California for this very issue. It needs to be fixed by the manufacturer………and all Ridgeline owners made whole, accordingly……….

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2021

Tailgate wiring harness is broken after warranty had just passed , which caused backup camera not to work.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2021

I’m hearing impaired and cannot get in contact with Honda online. Recall kck 22v-867 rvc. I already replaced the item 2 years ago and want Honda to reimburse me for the parts.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2020

Backup camera quit working. Inspection of wiring harness going to tailgate shows wire loom disintegrated, wires broken. . Read more...

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2020

Back up camera wiring harness placed in spot that inevitable damage will occur that breaks wiring for back camera to be visible. Tailgate opening two different ways, places the wiring against a metal border, damaging plastic harness. Camera goes completely black, then stops working. Honda denies any recalls even with multiple complaints of owners from 2017 models to 2020. When vehicle is placed in reverse there is no visible camera to be seen.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2020

The rear view back up mirror stopped working it is intermittent. I believe the problem is a flaw where the wiring harness goes to the mirror near the hinge on the tailgate. Seems to be what was shown on some sites on the internet. Spoke to dealer he said he never heard of the problem kinda blew me off. Hope this government agency can get Honda to fix the problem. Thank you george bundschu.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

Whenever I drive the vehicle, my left foot goes numb after driving for only 5-15 minutes. My left foot and leg are very painful for the balance of the day anytime I drive the Ridgeline. (I am of average height and weight. ) I have reached out to the Honda dealership and american Honda (see correspondence) and they have not been helpful. I believe the problem is with the driver's seat, but it could also be in the floorboard of the vehicle. I stopped driving it for 2 weeks, and all my leg issues went away. When I resumed driving, the problems reoccurred. It happens every time I drive the Ridgeline. I purchased the vehicle brand new at maita Honda in citrus heights CA on 12-31-18.
