The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the hood was shaking significantly. The contact stated upon opening the hood, he noticed that the hood latch was significantly loose. Additionally, the contact stated that there were gaps in the front seals of the hood, allowing air inside, which caused the hood to vibrate. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 21v932000 (structure, latches/locks/linkages). The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the striker support plate was installed; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair was not completed on the vehicle as no issues were found; however, the work order showed that the striker support plate was installed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the hood could not be replaced under NHTSA campaign number: 21v932000 (structure, latches/locks/linkages) however, the manufacturer recall remedy notes stated that the hood could be completely replaced with a new part for free. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. The contact was able to drive to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and had TSB #a17-083 completed. The contact stated he continued to hear the hood vibrating. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21v932000 (structure, latches/locks/linkages). The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer and the recall repair was completed. The contact stated that he continued to hear the hood vibrating. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
