Michelin tires ltx ms p245 60r18 - cracking sidewalls/dry rotting. Honda dealer said my sidewalls were cracking and/or dry rot. My Honda truck has 43,000 miles and tires have been maintained. Michelin has recall July 12, 2013 which details similar issue for similar line of tires. Mine not covered.

Complete separation of tread from the sidewalls; michelin ltx oem light truck tire. The tread remained in one piece but there was a clean & complete separation from the sidewalls approx. 2 inches from the bead [both sides]. There was no warning [vibration, rumbling, loss of control, etc. ] until the failure at approx. 65 mph on interstate 93, concord, nh. It was a clear, cold [17 deg. F] day with no obstructions or debris in or on the highway. [note: I have several photos of the tire in question after the separation].
