The vehicle is subject to safety recall 13v-113 (campaign 131) for problems relating to the brake light switch. The recall repair was attempted in 2016 but the defect has recurred (current symptoms include but is not limited brake lights sporadically staying on with car off, key removed and all doors securely closed. This condition has caused the battery to be repeatedly completely drained and has required a battery replacement. Domino effect of a faulty signal - defective switch causes intermittent, erratic, or "ghost" signals to the vehicles logic relays and computer elements. Logic processor confusion and relay chatter can mimic a relay or component failure and can lead to pcm, tcm, bcm faults, errors and vulnerability. Additionally and in the present case the abs and brake warning alert lights have now come on as well on the dashboard. These warning lights are not sporadic but are now apparently permanent. The dealership is refusing a second free repair, incorrectly claiming a "one-time fix" limit. Hyundai corporate case #42932438 was filed but ignored.
Tl- the contact owns 2011 Hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while the driver was driving, while depressing the brake pedal the vehicle failed to stop. In addition, the contact stated the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard to bring the vehicle to a stop. No warning indicator lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not part of NHTSA campaign number: 13v113000 (service brakes). The approximate failure mileage was unknown. Aw.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Accent. The contact that while driving at various speeds, she hears a scrubbing and screeching sound coming from the front right and left sides. The contact also stated that the brakes are wearing down allot faster than normal. The brakes have to be changed at least once a month. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was not able to be diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired however, the problem recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. It was raining and I was driving about 35 mph and I tried to brake so I could merge into the left lane but my steering wheel locked up and my car started sliding and I hit the back of another car. My whole front end was smushed, but my air bags didn't come out even though it was an extremely hard impact.
