Tl-the contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2014 Hyundai Accent. While driving at 68-70 mph, the vehicle was struck on the rear drivers side wheel well of the vehicle, which spun the vehicle around. The vehicle then crashed into a concrete barrier, flipped over three times and landed on all four tires however, the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a concussion and a compressed spine which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The second driver in the crash fled the scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene to baytown collision center in baytown, TX, 77520. Community Hyundai, 4221 east fwy, baytown, TX 77521, (832) 612-3807, was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer was also contacted but was placed on hold and then disconnected. The approximate failure mileage was 58000. The vehicle was destroyed. Ah.
Airbags did not deploy in a crash into median barrier on a highway. Speed at about 50 mph, with a front/side impact, after spinning on icy roads.
