The 2010 Accent has a defect that will wear out the inside of the front tires in a short period of time.
Purchased approx Aug 10 2011 from carmax. Noticed vibration or shudder from steering wheel in park and idling, more pronounced on right side of engine, right side of car into back seat. Some vibration and shudder while decelerating at speed and around 20 mph. Took the car to Hyundai lax los angeles around September 2011. They claimed the car had 4 motor mounts (engine and trans I assume) and that 2 of the mounts were bad. At different times they described the mounts as "broken", "cracked", and "stretched". They installed the two mounts (lower front and back location to me) calling them "revised". I asked to see the bad mounts but they did not show them to me. The repair reduced the side vibration by about 90% but the vibration was still there. The steering wheel vibration is unchanged. I immediately took it back to the dealer and also to Hyundai vermont, los angeles. Both service managers and technicians said the remaining vibration is "normal" (their words) but they put down on the repair sheet that the vibration was gone which was not true. I told them the vibration is not normal especially for a brand new car that costs over $12,000. They said all Hyundai 4 cylinders have the same vibration. The vibration remains. I have read online two Hyundai technicians who claim the vibration could be caused by defective upper engine mount, loose timing chain or belt, defective harmonic balancer. I have seen this week a video on the Hyundai sonata and its vibration; my car makes the same vibration and noise, almost like one of the plugs is missing. (I had an engine diagnosis and it said all electrical is ok; no check engine codes are showing). I have also read about the September 26 recall of the Hyundai sonata for vibration problems. I think the 2010 Hyundai should also face recall since the dealer has admitted the vibration.

The heater fan in the car would only work on high speed. It was a continual occurance, therefore it was difficult to conatrol the interior heat and defroster. It was repaired by replacing the speed control switch. The mechanic showed me what had failed on the switch were two receptacles where the metal was should have been solid but had gotten so hot that it had melted and there was no longer a connection. I felt compelled to report this as it concerned me that it may cause a fire.
- the contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the license plate holder on the vehicle had a design defect. The screws that held the bolts in place were located on the inside of the bumper which was inaccessible without taking the bumper off. The screws eventually rusted, and when they needed to be removed they broke off in the hole, which made it necessary for a mechanic to repair at a cost upwards of $100. 00. The current and failure mileage were both 63,000. Update 5/3/tr.
1) driving on a hilly, twisty road. While approaching a downhill turn in the road, the check engine light came on, the tach dropped to "0" and the car shut off. Since the engine was no longer running, I lost my power steering and power brakes suddenly. I lost control of the car and went off the road, crashing into a guardrail. 2) damaged parts: front bumper, headlight assembly, corner light assembly, rf fender, hood, upper radiator core support. Possibly inner fender also? air bags did not go off, and I was not injured. I was able to restart the car, and the check engine light went out after about 10-15 seconds. I have been able to operate the car normally ever since. I contacted Hyundai and am waiting for resolution and repairs. 3) nothing has been done yet.

Purchased the vehicle in June, 1998. From date of purchase, engine check sensor would come on and stay on for a while. Sometimes the mechanic found a problem and fixed it and turned off the light; sometimes he told me it was a faulty sensor; sometimes he was unable to determine what was causing the light to come on. Latest incident occurred on may 15, 2001, when the engine check light came on once again. The vehicle had just been to the dealership b/c the check engine light was on and they'd replaced the pulse generator. There have been acceleration problems with the vehicle in the past; sometimes the mechanic said that they coincided with the check engine light problem. After 3 years and many visits to the mechanic for the same problem, I'm facing the end of my warranty and the latest explanation for the check engine light problem is that the sensor is "touchy. " ignoring the light in the future is an unaccepteable and unsafe solution, and I don't believe that it is as "touchy" as it is "faulty. ".
