1 Wheel problem of the 2021 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/11/2024

During a tire swap, another lug nut broke off while trying to remove it. This issue has occurred before, and it seems that the faulty lug nut problem is still present. The car has only been serviced at Hyundai dealerships, and the tires were last rotated during a service at an authorized Hyundai dealership before this incident. The affected lug nut this time was on the front passenger side.

2 Wheel problem of the 2012 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 09/29/2023

This car has lost air in the tires even after installing new tires . The rims are rusting through on the backside . The check tire light has come on about every 1 1/2 months . I finally found out why the other day . A tire finally went flat setting with out use . This time when I stuck it in the dunk tank I was able to see tiny bubbles on the back side of the rim. I also noted significate rust. This is a dangerous situation with all the wheels. When wire brushing the wheel to apply epoxy the hole opened up and immediately deflated. After cleaning the wheel I applied epoxy but it is only a temporary fix as it needs all the wheels replaced. I am 75 and have owned alot of cars and this is the first I have seen wheels rust through. I have a 48 willys Jeep with original wheels and it has been outside all it's life and the wheels are still good.

3 Wheel problem of the 2016 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/02/2023

The car was rented by a turo host with defectuous brakes and worn-out tires. During 3 weeks and 3400 mi, forward disk brakes produced a thud of metallic grinding without effective braking at each brake. Forward tires were measured 2/32" and 'replace tire' marking were noticed on the treads. Rear tires were measured 3/32" and 'replacement tire monitor' marking were noticed on the treads. A rear tire exploded on a straight line, between 55 and 60 mph, the burst fortunately did not cause any swerve and the vehicle was able to be stopped on a few meters. During the journey, the driver's seat belt sometimes unlocks unexpectelly, even if initial locking has been checked by pulling on the buckle.

Fifth lug nut failure within a span of less than 6 months. Today during winter to summer tire snow change, front passenger side lug nut broke while it was being removed. This is the 4th incident in my vehicle with regards to the lug nuts. Less than two weeks ago, during routine maintenance at a Hyundai dealership, another lugnut broke and I have also registered a complaint here.

7 Wheel problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/17/2022

This complainant is the owner of a Hyundai Accent 2013 GLS. The car use to drive fine until about a month ago, while I was stepping on the brake to come to a stop, the steering wheels sharply moved into the other lane. This situation got even dangerous this last week when the vehicle started drifting on the high way. I reported to a midas mechanic who agreed this is a safety hazard. This needs to be checked by Hyundai.

8 Wheel problem of the 2021 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/26/2022

The studs and the lug nuts have consistently cross-threading and corrosion issues in a barely-year-old vehicle. I have had to visit the dealer twice to have this problem fixed and paid out of pocket. This started to happen ever since my last service at a Hyundai dealership. I suspect that this is because of low quality or defective lugnuts/studs that are being used, which is causing the lugnuts to be stuck and break off while trying to remove them. 2 of the lugnuts and studs in the vehicle had to be broken off to be removed last week (11/28/22). Yesterday (12/04/2022) during a tire change, another lugnut/stud broke off during removal. Hyundai should look into this faulty lugnuts/stud problem and have it resolved.

9 Wheel problem of the 2019 Hyundai Accent

I was driving and all of a sudden my car was shaking and I lost my traction control and I could not stop my car with brakes. I have abs and traction control warning lights on in my vehicle.

10 Wheel problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 06/10/2022

When you start the car and touch the steering wheel, it vibrates hard, and the 2 front tires. While driving you can barely keep the car on the road it seems the steering wheel has little or no control. It gets better after you drive a bit, but still vibrates and while parked the steering wheel moves on its on. Lastly after turning the car off the steering wheel and tires still vibrates for about 2-5 seconds afterwards.

11 Wheel problem of the 2012 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 01/09/2022

Rear wheels make squeaking noises and steel wheel is to hot to touch and breaks smell like they are burning.

12 Wheel problem of the 2021 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/25/2021

The car seems to have sort of an alignment problem. Steering keeps going to the left and I constantly have to pull steering to the right. Even with both have on steering wheel the car goes to the left lane. If I make a left turn the steering seems to want to stay to the left and I get the feeling the car is going to flip over. It's like there is a gap in the steering wheel. A miscommunication between the steering and front axle kind of. They tried to fix it three times without any success, and now they are ignoring me, they don't answer my calls. I only drive it to work because I have to. The dealer says it's not that bad. Well maybe it's not that bad to drive it around the block but to drive it one hour everyday is a problem for me, even my right hand and arm start to hurt after half hour of constant dragging. Dealer told me all there Accents drive the same. Well for me it means they all have same problem probably. Mechanics told me they get lot of cars with same problem. I am sure they are aware of it. I even took a video while driving to demonstrate defect and definitely it's not safe to drive. They tried to align the car three times at two different dealers with no success. Dealers repair files attached.

20 Wheel problem of the 2005 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

I was traveling (and likely slightly braking) on a highway off-ramp when I suddenly lost control of my vehicle. It felt like the right front wheel seized up, and then the steering column and dash started violently shaking and the car fish-tailed around. I crashed into a concrete barricade and ending up facing oncoming traffic -- which could have killed me and the driver of the oncoming vehicle, who also ended up crashing. Weather / visibility and road conditions were clear and dry, and there were no apparent o structions in the roadway. After the crash, the wheels moved normally again and looked unaffected.

21 Wheel problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/22/2016

In November 2016 the exhaust pipe from the front axle to the muffler fell off due to brackets rusting. A couple weeks later a recall notice was received from Hyundai about rusting to the chassis and suspension. Repair work was done at the time of the incident. Hyundai sprayed the underside for rust-proofing, then denied a reimbursement claim on the exhaust system. In April 2017 the rocker arms and rotors had rusted, and required full braking system and rocker arm replacement. In June 2017 the entire suspension system required replacement, due to rusting of the shocks and struts. An attempt to file a second claim for reimbursement cannot be processed through Hyundai's website, citing the VIN number and last name matching the original request that was denied without explanation.

22 Wheel problem of the 2016 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 07/13/2016

This vehicle is not equipped with a factory furnished spare tire/wheel nor tools to remove a tire/wheel. I had a flat tire, called roadside assistance but they could only tow me to a repair facility because the vehicle does not have a spare tire/wheel. This is a dangerous if you are in a remote area, don't have phone communications, disasters and such, or repair facility that is 100's of miles away or closed.

23 Wheel problem of the 2014 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/20/2016

I bought a 2014 Hyundai Accent with 16,xxx miles on it and after a month of driving the car I noticed a bubble in the side wall. Was told it was not covered under warranty and that "I must have caused the damage" words directly from the Hyundai dealership. I have analyzed the tire and there is no sign of hitting anything (pothole, curb, etc) very displeased with these tires and the fact that its $120+ for a tire that should've been recalled.

24 Wheel problem of the 2015 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

I have owned this car which was stated to be brand new for just about 3 month. A few weeks ago I had to pull over for a flat tire. This week same thing. When the car was towed to route 60 Hyundai I was told the damage was front end damage causing the 3 month old tires to wear to the cords. These are hankook tires which have been subject to many class action lawsuits. Route 60 basically called me a liar and insisted I caused the front end damage. This car is unsafe and this dealership should be ashamed of themselves for not honoring their contract and warranty.

25 Wheel problem of the 2014 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

My daughter recently purchased (Jan 29 2015) a 2014 Hyundai/ Accent/ GLS, vehicle # kmhcu4ae6eu773943 from haddad of the berkshire haddad Hyundai, 689 east street in pittsfield , MA 01201 this vehicle came equipped with 4 kuhmo tires (low profile # soluskh251955016 . We have had to replace two of the original tires the driver left front tire developed a giant bulge in the sidewall (the tire and rim have no indication of scrap on the side ), we also noticed the right rear tire is developing a bulge in the sidewall. I just had the left front drivers tire replaced at the original dealer haddad of the berkshire haddad Hyundai, 689 east street in pittsfield , MA 01201 . Upon review with service associate they determined the tires are not faulty and are not covered as warranty. I feel differently about this issue, three problems with tires on a car less than old leaves me wondering about the kumho tires and the tires compatibility and ability to perform on this Hyundai Accent. Dealers comments" I reviewed your email with jim torrico, our service director and we also spoke to kris meyrick at Hyundai. This bulging condition on the tires is considered a road hazard which is not covered by warranty. It is caused by pot holes and when they are hit, it breaks the side wall steal belt. This causes the bulge which eventually will pop. The tires are also a lower profile tire. " it appears to me there is a defect with these two tires that bulged out, keep in mind the rims and tires in question have no scraps or dents. . In my opinion the komho tires / description soluskh251955016 low profile pose a serious hazard to any vehicle that is equipped with them due to the ability to damage under normal operating conditions. If an unsuspecting operator hits a curb or hole these tires can blowout.

26 Wheel problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 01/17/2015

The car was sold to us with no spare time. It has an air can system to inflate a tire. This will not work on a blow out. The system is faulty and a safety hazard especially with a blow out on the interstate. The instructions are hard to figure out and having a flat tire is stressful and dangerous enough without having to try and figure out a faulty system.

27 Wheel problem of the 2007 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

Hyundai commerce sold me vehicle that has not passed smog yet and or the 90-day extension has expired. They never bother to mention that at the time of purchase. They put brand new tires onmy car 2 week after I purchased it. I blew a tire on the freeway on November 5 2014. The tire shoul d be less than 3 months old. My side mirrors do not work they do not rotate correctly. Therefore making it difficult to see out of at times. They said they replaced the motor but they are still not working. They said they fixed the alignment howver the car is still sliding to the right. They have not helped to correct their error and are pushing the car onto me and making it my problem. As a first time car buyer they used aggressive and intimatiion tactics to try and scare me. Please help.

28 Wheel problem of the 2012 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 05/03/2014

I was traveling home from the store may 3rd 2014 and came into a curve on route 20 between princeton and athens w. V. . The curve was to the right in a low but steep bank at 40 mph and the right front wheel caliper grabbed causing immediate loss of speed and caused momentary loss of control but regained as soon as the caliper released which was in approximately two seconds. Fortunately no oncoming traffic was around or it could have been messy. The wheel was feeling sluggish after the incident and I'm no longer happy with this vehicle, it is to dangerous. The same thing just happened again today may 4th 2014.

29 Wheel problem of the 2002 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/10/2014

I was on a side street, thank god. On my way to the highway when I heard a horrible scratching, metal crunching noise. I had a hard time steering when I pulled into a parking lot my car just stopped. I looked, and my tire was sideways, the right lower control arm rotted and broke, the axle came out of the transmission. I spoke to Hyundai and there is nothing they can do. I recently lost my job and would like to be reimbursed for this. If I would have been on the highway I could have been killed and caused a huge accident, due to not being able to turn my wheel. I want to know what can be done about this please. There was a recall due to this same exact reason and it is a huge safety issue.

30 Wheel problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

I also purchased a 2013 Hyundai Accent brand new less than one year later had 15000 miles on it and had to replace all 4 kuhmo tires because they all had bubbles in them contacted Hyundai they did not care and did nothing for me!!!!.

31 Wheel problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/14/2013

This vehicle is extremely dangerous driving in the snow. I have driven a number and variety of vehicles in all types of weather across the country. I have certainly driven in worse conditions and in lighter vehicles in worse conditions. There has been a light snow all day 3-6 inches. I was driving on both the interstate and county maintained roads, all paved. Traffic was medium heavy, it was around 6 pm. The vehicle has no traction (it was not icy out) and kind of "bounced" through the snow, like it was going to stall. I started out at 45 but when I realized I had no control, I slowed down to between 35 and 25. If I accelerated in the least, the vehicle didn't really respond. It felt like driving a boat in the water where there is a delay. The car went where it wanted to go. I could keep it somewhat straight, but there was no responsiveness. I was at the mercy of the other drivers. I stayed in the outside lane with my hazards on. I don't know how to describe it, but it was like it wouldn't slow down when I tried to take my foot off the accelerator in response to it drifting, it choked like it was going to stall. It behaved like a stick but its an automatic. And it was like the tires "bounced" in the snow. Its those little tires. The reasons to not own this car just keep adding up. I'm terrified how I'll get through the rest of the winter based on driving last night. I've never felt so out of control in such conditions. It wasn't that bad out. I should have had more control. This vehicle should not be allowed on the road in the winter time. They should recall the vehicle or have to buy them back at the cost owed. I can't believe it's legal to allow a vehicle that performs so poorly in moderate winter weather to be on the road. How will I get through the winter? I now want to get rid of this vehicle ASAP before I end up dead.

32 Wheel problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

My car is a 2013 Hyundai which came with kuhmo solus tires. . . The tires had to be replaced after a year and a half, because all four tires had mutiple bubbles on each one. . Complained to the dealer more than (4) times, to no avail. . . All they would say is I have to replace the tires, and they weren't covered under warranty. I feel that something is seriously wrong with these tires. . . Every Hyundai I've seen with these tires have bubbles in them. . . As many cars as I have owned. . . I've never had to replace tires on any one of them in under a two year period. . I feel this warrants an investigation. .

33 Wheel problem of the 2012 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

3 out 4 of the stock kumho tires have now developed bubbles in the side walls.

34 Wheel problem of the 2012 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/27/2011

I was turning a corner going to work and the front passenger tire popped. I called the roadside assistance to come take care of the vehicle. Only to learn that there was no spare tire, when I specifically asked the salesperson if there was one he stated yes. The car had to be towed to the dealers. The dealer then tells me that I must have hit something because the sidewall of the tire had a hole in it. However, I did not hit anything nor rub a curb. They are not standing behind the warranty of the tires and notified me that the tires on the vehicle are discontinued. I asked why they were discontinued and got the run around. . I asked if defective and no response.

35 Wheel problem of the 2002 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/23/2011

Driver side wheel fell off while vehicle was in motion due to lower control arm separating in half. Loss of control of vehicle. Cv joint drive shaft, fender and rocker panel damaged. Pictures are available showing defect.
