2007 Hyundai Azera rear sun shade malfunction. Sunshade gets stuck while expanding / retracting, posing an unsafe situation by restricting driver's visibility through the rear window while backing the car up.
My 2007 Hyundai Azera has a crack on the dashboard. This concern was noticed around the 65,000 mile range. The crack appears to follow the line of the passenger side airbag and the car is typically parked in a garage, not subjected to elements, and has not endured any unusual stress to cause the crack. Additionally, the rear sunshade that comes standard with my car's model seems to have a faulty motor and no longer automatically goes down when in reverse, as it was designed to do, I trust for safe visibility. The sunshade feature began to fail around the 70,000 mile range and would at times stop at the partway up/down range, creating poor visibility due to the frame showing where it should not show in the rear window. I have a number of emails from Hyundai where they state that these items are not covered under warranty. They have failed to address my safety concerns. In particular, the airbag could deploy without cause or might deploy more forcefully than intended due to the crack. Hyundai refuses to correct these problems at no expense to me, has not addressed my safety concerns, and in taking this position, is failing to stand by the workmanship/quality of their product.
