2 Power Train problem of the 2012 Hyundai Azera

Failure Date: 06/26/2024

In 2023, Hyundai approved to pay for repairs of vehicles that suffer premature engine failures due to issues such as low oil, metal debris and/or fire in the engine. These issues were predominately found in the gdi engines in kia and Hyundai vehicles. This suit failed to take into account the Hyundai Azera model and the 3. 3 gdi engine. Same engine maker as the 2. 2 and 2. 4 models. My car stalled out in the middle of traffic with no warning lights for low oil or engine issues. The car was serviced previously with no coded issues noted accept excessive oil burning which was noted with all Hyundai models from the last decade. The gdi 3. 3 has the most noted issues and is the most expensive to replace from the dealer. The engines are failing before the car is broken in the manufacture is making money on the replacement engines from customers who are still trying to pay the car off.

When vehicle comes to a near stop to traffic or light it creates the same effect. This is a constant through the entire driving trip. I have taken it to several mechanics and they have accurate or certain solution. In the attempt to find isssue transmission service, oil change, and spark plugs have been changed. Brakes have been check as well from professional service mechanics.

Driving in passing gear three times my car made a loud thudding noise and with an accompanying jolt, the “impact” feels like you could lose control. This feels like it comes from under the rear such as where the universal joint/drive shaft might be. We’ve taken the car in twice but the dealership is unable to duplicate. No warning of any kind in advance.

11 Power Train problem of the 2011 Hyundai Azera

Failure Date: 03/02/2016

On 03/02/16 - I was driving on george 400 expressway and I slowed down to take an exit and without any warning my vehicle completely lost power; the steering wheel became stiff and the dashboard lights came on. I had to roll to the shoulder and turn my flashers on. I put the vehicle in neutral and it started back up. I was able to drive to a safe location. This also occurred approximately a year ago while I was driving on a freeway (I-285). I took it to the Hyundai dealership and they could not find anything explanation as to why it lost power. This concerns me because I drive a lot on the freeway and to be driving 55-70 mph and to lose power for no reason is quite frightening. I love my vehicle, but this is very dangerous. It could easily occur when my daughter, a less experienced driver, is driving the vehicle. Please advise what is the cause of this and how can it be rectified? note that the first time this occurred, I had a lot less miles on my vehicle.

13 Power Train problem of the 2011 Hyundai Azera

Failure Date: 03/28/2015

I was driving up to a busy intersection where there was a red light. I was just starting to brake when my steering got stiff and my car wasn't following the curve of the street. I looked at the dash and all my lights were on. My car had turned off. I didn't know if I was too low on gas but the gas light wasn't on. I put the car in neutral and turned the ignition, which started right back up. I pulled into the gas station and filled up the tank. I didn't have another issue until today, 9-9-15, when I was driving down a slight hill going about 40 getting ready to get into the turn lane when again the steering got stiff and I looked down and realized all my lights on the dash were on. I had half a tank of gas at the time. . . Both times I was able to put it in neutral to restart it without a problem. Both times have been on busy streets with my children in the car. . . . This is an issue!! I called the dealership where I bought it last year and since they were close to closing ended up not helping me. I will call them again tomorrow to find out what the heck is going on. . . .

While sitting in a drive thru window at a complete stop, my car experienced sudden unintended acceleration and crashed into the stop car in front of me. The rate at which my car accelerated was so great that I had whip lash from this event. I am scared to drive my car again. I called Hyundai who assured me that this did not happen as I stated and there is nothing wrong with their cars. Interestingly, my car had just been at the dealer(2 weeks) for a TSB on "emission control" issue. My car was sluggish and staling when I came to a stop. Now 2 weeks later I am slamming into a stopped car at what seemed like 60mph!! please help me.

20 Power Train problem of the 2007 Hyundai Azera

Failure Date: 09/26/2012

I pushed down the gas to try to pass someone and the transmission went into neutral. I could not get it to re engage and had to coast to the side of the freeway, almost getting hit by the driver behind me. Dealer had the car two days and said they could not duplicate and refused to repair even though 100k warranty is in effect. This happened twice before in 2010 and 2011. Both times the car was brought to the dealer and nothing done. I was told by the mechanic that Hyundai could authorize a "flight recorder" to be installed in my car so when it happens next they would have a recording of the issue. The dealer promised to call me Monday but so far no call back and no authorization. My wife won't drive the car and I am uneasy with it. She was going to buy a Hyundai sonata, but now refuses to do so and is telling her cousins the story so they are also switching to Toyota. What a shame.
