The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the shift lock became jammed and the vehicle would not shift out of park gear. In order to shift the vehicle out of park, the contact had to release the shift lock button with a screw driver. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The contact also stated that the brake lights were not functioning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic:switches:brake light). The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 110,000. The VIN was unavailable.
