1 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2016

Drivers sun visor unable to stay in a retracted position. Remains in an open position which obscures view of driver. Same condition exists for passanger side sun visor.

2 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

Passenger side sun visor failed. The plastic that holds it to the ceiling of the car becomes very brittle and breaks. The visor fell into the field of vision when my wife was driving. She decided to pull the entire visor off, severing the wires that it was dangling by. This was a safer option than having the visor fly around on the highway. I contacted the local Hyundai dealer where we bought the car new to ask if there is a technical service bulletin or recall about this. The dealer wasn't helpful and said the replacement would be out of my pocket, and said there's no recall, then suggested to contact Hyundai headquarters. I opened a case with them after informing them that there is already a campaign that exists for the sonata for the exact same issue and a quick google search reveals tons of complaints about this issue in the Elantra as well.

3 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2015

Passenger side sun visor broke. The stem portion that holds it onto the roof and also channels the wires for the light, broke and the dealaer wants $189 for a replacement.

4 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

I was driving my 2008 Hyundai Elantra under normal conditions and when I attempted to adjust the driver's side visor by first disconnecting it from the attachment on the right side of the mechanism it fell, dangling from it's support. I then had to continuously hold the visor up with my left hand until I could pull over to a safe place. My visibility was impaired as was my motor functioning as I was left with only one hand free and had to focus on holding the visor up with my left hand. My safety was certainly jeopordized as were others in the vicinity of my vehicle. When I was later able to inspect the visor, I determined that the plasitic mount had broken away on the left had side. An excessive amount of force has never been exerted on this vehicle component, so this incident was disconcerting.

5 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2014

Driver's visor insertion point broke causing visor to drop into driver's field of vision. Had to hold visor in hand while driving until safe to pull over. Had to remove visor from car to avoid recurrence. Web search shows this (or similar instances) to be a common problem.

6 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

Both visors break and detach at primary swiveling elbow hanging down, unable to secure in any way, unable to detach electrical wire without severe damage, must drive one handed to operate the car.

7 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2013

Huyndai motor America has failed to resolve complaint concerning campaign 110. Sun visor will fall randomly and obstruct the drivers ability to see. Extremely dangerous!.
