general problems of the 2010 Hyundai Elantra

On sept 12th of this year I was involved in a multiple rollover with my Hyundai Elantra and not one single airbag deployed nor did my seatbelt tighten up to keep me from moving around as much. Due to this I suffered a fractured vertabrae.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. On Saturday, July 22, 2023, after the car was put into park in my fathers driveway and the emergency brake put on, the front driver and passenger bags deployed. The force of it's deployment cracked the windshield in several places on the passenger side. There were no warning lights or indications that this would occur. The car was in park. The seatbelts are in a locked (not able to retract) form, so the car is not drivable. The two individuals in the front seat were disoriented for a short time. All 4 passengers in the car experienced ringing in the ears for approximately 3 hours, but are ultimately, physically alright, however, not mentally. If this had occurred in another setting, the risk of accident or other safety measures would have been grand, but luckily it happened at the home of a family member. The airbag malfunction needs to be eligible to be fixed and not at the expense of me the owner. The car has a camera located in it and it captured all items listed above. The video may be provided. The Hyundai corporate office has been contacted and an incident file opened. The insurance company has been contacted, as well. Nothing has been done with the car, as the corporate office noted that they may need to see it in it's original state.

The contact owned a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while his wife was driving down hill in the rain at 45 mph, she failed to apply the brakes and crashed into a vehicle. The impact of the crash caused a three car pile up. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. Due to the failure, his wife hit her right arm and chest on the steering column. The authorities arrived at the scene and rendered aide by the emt. The driver of the vehicle that his wife crashed into sustained neck injuries. The contact later took his wife to a hospital where she was treated for bruising to her right arm and chest. A police report was filed(2023-17095). The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer nor the dealer where notified of the failure. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

Clockspring has failed . Hyundai has extended the clockspring warranty for 2011 to 2014 Elantras to a 15-year unlimited mileage but has excluded the 2010 models for some reason. I would like Hyundai to extend the warranty to all affected vehicles as it is a safety hazard.

I pulled up to my house, turned the ignition off, and the airbag deployed in my face.

The contact owned a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle first hit a pothole in the road, then crashed into a guardrail, pole and tree. None of the air bags deployed upon impact. The contact's daughter and grandson were passengers in the vehicle. The fire department had to cut the roof of the vehicle and rear passenger door, removed all of the windows and windshield in order to extract the contact's son, daughter and grandson from the vehicle. All parties were transported by ambulance to the hospital for injuries sustained. The contact's son suffered a head injury with a brain bleed and a broken right hand. The contact's grandson had a broken femur and the contact's daughter had bumps and bruises. Police and fire department reports were filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

My daughter was parked sitting in this car before going into work when all the airbags but the front ones deployed. The driver side one hit her arm very hard. The car was on but in park. Nothing hit the car.

Hydroplaned head on into a guardrail and airbags didn't deploy doing 23+ mph. Highway going around a turn.

My red air bag notification on my dashboard stays on. Was told this means no air bag coverage. Also that it is not operating properly. I am driving this but only because dealership said I would need too pay for inspection to see what the problem is then pay to have it fixed. This is not acceptable I am a senior driver and never had a ticket but am worried that this may cause it to deploy on it's own while driving. As a safety issue I feel this not be a charge that I need to cover. I was never notified of a power steering recall. Only told about it some time after I paid to have this repaired. Now I feel this should be handled as a safety issue by the dealer not me. There are many reports of this regarding the red light alert happening and nothing being done.

"takata recall" today 9/25/17, I took my car to my mechanic because the horn does not work. I was told that the pad in the steering wheel where the airbag is. It is not making contact to make the horn work. He stated that it was a defect from the factory. I never got a recall notice of there being a problem with the airbag. The mechanic was able to test the horn under the hood of car, however whenever I need to blow the horn it does not work.

After driving about 15 minutes with my kids in the back I parked my car in my driveway, turned body to get something out center console, engine was off keys where in my hand and the steering wheel airbag deploys.

Sitting in traffic on 405 freeway near exit 52 going south to work when I was rear-ended by a 2013 Nissan. Back and front of car folded up, I was ejected from the seat belt (opened up and flew into passenger seat) and not one air bag opened. I could not move, my foot was fractured, stomach hurt, neck, back and arms in pain. Chp on the scene. Car that ran into the back of me pushed me into a large truck and pushed the truck into a car. 4-car accident. Car has been totaled and I am reporting the failure and defect with the seat belts and air bags.

I was driving my Hyundai 2010 I hit a parked car driving about 35mph none of my airbags deployed.

The contact owned a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. While driving 13 mph, the vehicle accelerated. The brake pedal was depressed and stuck to the floorboard and the steering wheel locked. The vehicle crossed opposite lanes and crashed through a gate and into a house. The air bags deployed long after the crash occurred. The contact was knocked unconscious momentarily and received medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow yard. Three months later, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 13v113000 (exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic) and 15v1000 (steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and requested information to investigate the failure. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

While at a complete stop, I was rear ended and also I rear ended the vehicle in front of me and not one of the airbags deployed.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while drifting at about 20 mph, the air bags deployed without any warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the computer reported a crash but the vehicle did not suffer any body damage. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 55,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle slid and the contact lost control of the vehicle until crashing. None of the air bags deployed upon impact. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact was reported injured as a result. The police were notified and a police report was filed. The contact was transported to the hospital via helicopter. The dealer was notified of the failure who filed a case on the contact's behalf (case number: 4964343). The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 32,000.

I was traveling south on i85 south approaching the exit 17 where I had planned to exit, as I began to apply the brake the engine was racing, and the vehicle continued to accelerate, I could not stop the vehicle, I turned right onto the exit, the vehicle did not slow down, I could not make the complete turn, I fractured my left thumb, and broke the steering wheel while trying to avoid crashing into some trees that were in the path of the vehicle, I continued to try to stop the vehicle but it kept going; I ended up crashing into an embankment just a couple of feet off of the ramp road on i85 north. Upon the impact of the vehicle crashing into the embankment the airbag exploded like a balloon and then deflated, it did not protect my body from the impact, I experienced back fractures, hemoperitoneum, and bowl perforation from the seat belt, I fractured my left thumb while steering the vehicle, I was hospitalized for 9 days, and received surgery on my bowel. The body shop while writing an estimate started the vehicle and discovered that the accelerator is still stuck (electronic throttle control). I did contact Hyundai and sent them authorization to inspect the vehicle, however after reading about the electronic throttle control, and the problems of other drivers have experienced with the component, I decided to contact your office. I don't want Hyundai to tamper with the vehicle and alter or destroy the condition of the vehicle and change the status of the accelerator in its present state. Is it possible for you to inspect the vehicle? I am concerned that other drivers of these vehicles may encounter the same problems, I was blessed because it could have been fatal,and had the on coming vehicles arrived seconds earlier there could have been multi a car crash. Traveling at speed of 35 mph, vehicle t boned my car in the drivers center post and both doors. Not one air bag deployed. 2 with injuries. Over $6000 in damage to my vehicle.

2010 Hyundai Elantra. . . . Going home from work on 9/16/10 at 4:30 pm a drunk driver pulled out in front of me. My car was totaled, the seat belt saved my life but not one airbag went off.
