1 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2020

At 8am coming back from kinstone nc driving on hey 70 at 60mph second lane my 2014 Hyundai Elantra suddenly braked on me. Car started sliding from one side to another spin around twice before went down hill.

2 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2017

Vehicle sways at moderate to high accelerations and upon hitting obstacles, or even in significant winds or drafts. Veering slightly left or right after bumps was commonplace, but after 113,000, over the course of just a few days sway problem has become severe at accelerations above 45 mph. Have since read online about numerous Hyundai owners experiencing the same problem and reporting to dealerships with this complaint.

3 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2017

My 2014 Hyundai Elantra has numerous issues. The car feels unsafe when driving down interstate when a very small flaw makes it seem you are losing control of the vehicle. It feels as if the back end is coming around as if it is going to do a 360 in the road. It also has a feeling in the steering wheel that it wants to lock up and have to apply more pressure to wheel and it finally breaks loose but feels uncomfortable as if you are going into other lanes. It does this in either direction. Sometimes I feel the steering is locking up and could cause a major accident. There have been many different reports of these same issues and apparently Hyundai charges outrageous prices just to tell you nothing is wrong. There is something wrong with these cars and really needs attention before someone is killed.

4 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally on the driver and passenger's side front of the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bob baker Hyundai located at (5285 car country dr, carlsbad, CA 92008) where the vehicle was diagnosed. A cause for the failure was not provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

5 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

When driving on the highway or a street and encounter a curve in the road, with some bumps in the road, the car just chatters sideways. Sometimes enough to almost go into the other lane. When you hit a bump straight on it just feels like the car is bottoming out. In my opinion I really feel that the suspension system is absolutely terrible and is very dangerous as if you hit more than one bump the car literally moves from 2 to 3 feet sideways. I have read on Hyundai forums of similar situations and it seems Hyundai does not acknowledge any problem.

6 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2015

Suspension consistently bounces over bumps on the freeway, sometimes so severe the car feels as if it will lose control and end up in another lane. Dealer replaced both rear shocks, which provided little improvement, as the front of the car still seems to bounce/hop over bumps at most speeds over 15mph. Vehicle still feels unstable, unsafe to drive. All dealers seem to deny there is an issue with seemingly little diagnostic work done. After checking Hyundai-forums. Com, found I'm not the only one to experience this unpleasant nature of the suspension after a few thousand miles. Note: car did not handle this terribly when new.

7 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2015

The car sways from side to side, it is noticeable at around 25 mph and it becomes an issue reaching speeds of 70mph and above (at this pint the car sways far too much and feels unsafe to drive). I thought this could be tires, balancing, or alignment, but after doing maintenance with those three things, the car continues to sway a lot. When I go over a small bump the car shifts to the sides. Upon further online research, there are many car blogs and complains of people with the same issue with their struts. I bought the car at 48,000 and I noticed the issue then, but I thought I was being too picky. However, there is no reason the car should be doing this. Only conclusion is a poor suspension system. This could lead to serious accidents and Hyundai should be looking into it.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2015

When going around minor bends in the road if you hit a pothole the rearend fishtails. One stretch of road that is travelled daily is a 25 mph speed limit with railroad tracks on the bend. Every time you hit the tracks the back end jumps to the right. The other day we had light snow went around a turn at a green light the back end hit a bump and almost spun me out at a speed of 15.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2015

On the Elantra gt, there is notable problem with the rear suspension system. When holding the vehicle in a turn to go around a curve, such as a highway ramp, the vehicle's rear end will hop if it hits a bump in the road. I imagine this happens when going straight as well, but is not as noticeable. When going around a curve, the back and will fishtail slightly causing the vehicle to become unstable in its path. On dry road, this doesn't usually present a problem as traction is restored quickly. However, on a wet or slick road the situation could prove to be more dangerous. Luckily, that scenario has not happened to me. Yet. There are various complaints about this issue across the internet for all models of the current generation Elantra (coupe, sedan and hatchback). Some people report that changing the rear shocks with better aftermarket ones seems to solve the problem. This needs to be addressed by Hyundai.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2014

While driving at highway speeds, the rear of the 2014 Elantra consistently sways and at times causes vehicle to actually drift into other lanes which is a huge safety issue to me and my family, my fiancee is actually fearful of driving this car as I am. We have had the car back at dealer and have been told it's the way the car is made. I actually spoke on phone with Hyundai motors eastern seaboard district manager brian norman ( his phone number is 609-395-7342 )and claims he has never heard of the swaying issue. I feel I am loosing control of car and possibly going to have accident, seems like manufacturer won't do anything until someone is killed because they refuse to accept responsibility and issue a recall. For the money I paid for this car I feel I got ripped off. Hyundai needs to be sued in court. If anyone is interested in getting a class action lawsuit going please contact me, my email is edward. Farris@aol. Com. We have rights, let's band together and force Hyundai to fix problem before someone we love gets killed by Hyundai's refusal to fix this extreme safety issue. If enough of us stand together we can win, Hyundai doesn't care about our safety or the safety of our loved ones riding in these cars. So email me and let's get this lawsuit started before someone gets hurt or killed, thank you ed farris.

11 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2014

I have a 2014 Hyundai Elantra which for some reason when going into a turn on a road or street that has some bumps on it the car when hitting the bumps chatters sideways. I had filed a complaint once before on the same problem now to add to the problem is the fact that just yesterday on 25 April while driving on a 2 lane road doing about 50 mph there were bumps in the road and I as I navigated the turn my car slid sideways approximately 2 feet and hit the shoulder which blew my rear tire. I just called the service station and it will be approximately $161 to replace the tire. The situation is very dangerous. I could have been hurt seriously or killed, the call was very hard to control after hitting the shoulder and blew out the tire.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2014

While driving at speeds up to 55-70 mph, I noticed when I go over potholes the entire backend fish tails. I took it to the dealer I purchased the vehicle from, they could not replicate. This happens every time I hit a pothole, uneven train tracks or uneven road conditions. Took it to another mechanic who couldn't either. Now I'm at another Hyundai dealership who also cannot replicate. I've noticed a lot of people complaining about this and now it's winter. Lots of roads are horrible in illinois and I'm afraid if I hit a pothole while there is snow on the ground that my car will spin out of control and crash. I agree with another complaintant that it will take a death before Hyundai does anything. I saw on car complaints that Hyundai is aware since the 2013 model yet has done nothing. I feel bad for giving the dealership a bad review but someone needs to notice. I do not feel safe and I went back to Hyundai because I had such great luck with my 2003 Elantra, also brand new. I can't say the same about my 2014 Elantra, they look nicer but not sure about the quality under the body. Also noticed that the tires spin on the slightest bit of wet condition, looked that up and the hankook optimos have been given horrible reviews. Might want to rethink the model and tire used, I've owned a no-name brand tire and didn't have that issue. They may not last long but at least I felt safe.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2013

Purchased vehicle may 2013. Noticed it pulled to the right severely. Dealership could not duplicate. Took shop foreman for a ride on 3 lane 65 mph highway. Taking a left curve I let go of the steering wheel. Car pulled to right and crossed two lanes. They decided to attempt to repair. All I remember is rotation of tires and I was told they could never be rotated again. Car is easier to drive but not completely repaired. Tired of messing with it. I hate this car and do not like driving it. There is a steering and suspension problem. I also have excessive wear on my tires, they have 18,000 miles on them and will need to be replaced soon.
