Equipment problem #1

I was pulling into a parking spot, moving very slowly, and the car suddenly accelerated. I’m not sure if it was the brakes only because I was slowed down and preparing to stop. I was lucky that I only went into a pvc fence and no one was injured. There was no indication of any sort of a possible problem. No one looked at it because I had no idea that that could be done, and I wouldn’t know where to go.

Equipment problem #2

Horn does not work.

Equipment problem #3

The 2022 Hyundai Elantra hybrid blue intermittently displays check hybrid system stop safety in instrument cluster screen, which stops the car from driving in either Smart or normal. This happens on the roads and highways. This is very unsafe because at high speed when this happens you could easily get rear-ended because the car drops its speed and cannot accelerate any faster than 30 miles per hour and then it degrades to 20 miles per hour until I can find a safe place to park and turn off the car to do the reset to be able to drive again. This happens because the 12-volt lithium battery is not providing an acceptable amount of charge to the hybrid battery. This was also confirmed when I took the battery to get tested and it failed the test. The next part that is unsafe, is replacing the low 12-volt lithium battery, because it is connected to a high voltage 240-volt lithium-ion polymer battery; there a normal person cannot simply replace it. You have to know electronics to make sure you do not get electrocuted. In addition, it takes hours to take out the battery and then it’s hard to find to purchase. I feel Hyundai makes this process difficult as after spending hours to screw it out, you cannot locate the item anywhere. When I spoke to the Hyundai parts person, they could not locate it until I actually brought in the battery. The 12-volt lithium battery was nonrefundable and cost twice as much ($545. 92) as I saw online, as low as $282 once I obtain the part number from the Hyundai order, which again is nonrefundable. I feel they make sure this cannot be found to force you to come to them to buy the battery, because all the labels or characters on the battery were not able to locatable. This was proven by me emailing the battery images to the parts person who was trying to find it, but could not until I bring in the actual battery. I was also told it is a special order and that they do not keep them onsite and have to be ordered and wait 7 to 10 days(pdf attach).

Equipment problem #4

My car has 62,000 miles on it just about three weeks ago. The air conditioner evaporator went out now the car is making a bunch of noise and it’s blowing very hot air. Car should not be having this issue with less miles is this. I took it to the dealership for a diagnostic check and they told me that this is a known problem with these cars I asked was there a recall on the part due to a failing with less miles, as such the mechanic told me I need to put in a complaint and maybe something will be done so I’m sitting with this car and I literally had to keep the windows down to stay cool.

Equipment problem #5

My Hyundai Elantra hybrid has had the horn and front radar go out 3 times. It will eventually start working again. Heavy rain or snow will disable the front radar and then it won’t go away for a while. When the front radar is out, I cannot use cruise control. It is disabled. I feel adaptive cruise control is much safer and cruise control in general. Apparently many people have similar issues. The horn not working often is also a huge concern. I am concerned I cannot rely on my car.

Equipment problem #6

Intermittently while driving the vehicle will suddenly engage the traction control (tc)/electronic stability control (esc). The light flashes for a short period (probably no more than a couple of seconds) and the car slightly jerks to the right. A loud noise is heard when this happens and the brake pedal shakes. Then the light will stop flashing and the car will begin operating normally again. Typically, the problem will reoccur shortly after it happens. I took the car to a dealer, and the dealer was unable to replicate the problem. The service manager stated that there were no codes and no history, and without a code the problem could not be diagnosed. This problem occurred multiple times over the last few months.

Equipment problem #7

On six seperate occasions since I purchased new my traction control light flashed and the vehicle jerked and would lose power. It would then gain and lose power again. Four of these occurances happened in the last few months. It would not subside until I stopped the car. I took the car to the dealer three times and they said they could not duplicate the problem. They also said there were no codes in the car system history that showed any problems. I contacted Hyundai USA for advice. They said to bring it into the dealer and ask them to inspect the car again. That was visit number 3 and the results were the same. The person from hundai said she would let her supervisor know of my concern for the vehicle safety but I never heard back.

Equipment problem #8

The back up camera has stopped working. If you read google, yelp, and other forums, a lot of back up cameras have stopped working as early as 24k miles. My vehicle is 2 years old and back up camera has died. I drive a lot of miles for work but cameras do not use mileage. The is a safety hazard as we had a 7 year old killed from a vehicle with no back up camera years ago. I do not agree with having to pay $1000. 00 to have this item replaced. Hyundai also did not give me a proper diagnosis. Just need to relace the camera for $980. 00 in a link that was a text message.

Equipment problem #9

Rear view back up camera no longer functioning correctly. Has been to dealership where purchased with system update but no remedy.

Equipment problem #10

The vehicle, which is under warranty, has shut itself off three times with an error message regarding the hybrid system. After having the vehicle towed to the dealership, they found no codes, errors, or messages to address. As a result, they won’t proceed further with troubleshooting and told me to address Hyundai directly. This is a significant safety hazard.

Equipment problem #11

Vehicle has an unintended acceleration recall and I have experienced it a few times during the past few months. Almost crashed into vehicle before me after the traffic stop.

Equipment problem #12

Faulty rearview camera my 2022 Hyundai Elantra sedan rearview camera fails to display clear image or displays no image when shift gear is in reverse position. 2021 and 2022 Hyundai Elantra sedan models were recalled - recall #271. I need my vehicle repaired but have been told by Hyundai corporate that my vehicle is not eligible. That is why I am filing this complaint.

Equipment problem #13

I bought this 2022 Elantra 2 years ago. Everytime I change my gear into reverse, my rear camera should be turned on for safety, but it's not working anymore.

Equipment problem #14

Unknown, "no remedy available".

Equipment problem #15

The horn has malfunctioned. It stopped working today for the first 10-15 minutes of my driving and this poses as a safety concern as I was not able to communicate with other drivers. After 15 minutes the horn started picking up but it sounded faint. It does not sound nearly as loud or the same sound. I am worried the horn will stop working again. It is not making the same noises it usually does. Currently there are no warning lights on the dash regarding this. I am also seeing in social media communities that other Elantra drivers are facing the exact same issue and this poses a safety concern. If the horn stops working while driving in the highway or even local roads and we are unable to connivance with drivers it can cause or fail to prevent accidents.

Equipment problem #16

I was driving on the highway three days ago, and the forward safety went off. It was raining heavily, this happened to me once before and as soon as the rain cleared, it went away. This time it has not gone away. The safety remains disabled. I am unable to locate the sensors to see if maybe there’s mud or some thing blocking it.

Equipment problem #17

Car losing coolant and Hyundai refuse to fix it says couldn’t find leak.

Equipment problem #18

Exploding sun/moonroof.

Equipment problem #19

My horn failed and keeps blowing fuses which is a band-aid for the current problem; my car poses a risk to me and my family and others on the road if a new horn cannot be installed promptly. The problem was acknowledged by "matthews Hyundai of greece - rochester NY(14626) and I was told it'd be a couple of weeks, now I've been told an eta of (03/30/22) which I have a email stating so. The vehicle has no warnings on the dash that let me know that the horn has malfunctioned. I was offered no options from Hyundai corporate other than to wait for the horn.

Equipment problem #20

Bought car new in December 2021. Both horns (low and high pitch) stopped working about a month after. Got it replaced. Next winter it went out again, got it looked at. Now this winter they went out again and I’m waiting on the dealership to get a new set in for it to be replaced. All replacements have been genuine Hyundai parts installed by a Hyundai dealership.

Equipment problem #21

During the summer, I used to get some rattling on my new Elantra right after beginning to drive, after a long interval of parking under the sun. But once the car cooled down due to the a/c, the rattling would disappear. I never bothered to find the exact source of rattling because it used to last only a couple of minutes. Now in the winter, something in the passenger side starts rattling every time I go on a bump! so I took the car to the dealership following a whole week of consistent rattling. They said the noise is coming from somewhere in the dashboard and it is likely due to the misalignment caused by the shrinking of plastic in the cold. They said I could leave the car with them for 2-3 days and they could open up the dashboard and find the exact source of the noise. However, the disclaimer was that opening up the dashboard could actually introduce more rattle after it was assembled back, because the dashboard plastic parts are not precisely machined. Also, if the cause of the rattle was not found to be a manufacturer defect, I would have to pay diagnosis fee as well as the price of any broken parts that needed replacement, along with the labor charge to replace it. What's the point of warranty then?.

Equipment problem #22

When attempting to engage lane keep assist and lane follow assist, it did not engage for 14 miles of my trip. I turned off lane follow assist and lane keep assist and after a few mins I turned those two back on but still did not engage. Vehicle had 147 miles at the time and had 235 miles left in gas tank. Stereo speakers cut out at high volume due to speakers getting hot.
