Equipment problem #1

Vehicle screen will shut off while driving and come back on randomly. This is not the first time I have reported it. I have reported it to my dealership, they looked at it and checked the vehicle. It happens so randomly but it's been over 2 years now that this has been happening. Of course when vehicle is getting inspected, it does not happen. I have asked them to update my software on my vehicle, they stated it does not need it but I bought this vehicle on sept 2023.

Equipment problem #2

My horn continues to short out. It has happened five or more times in two years. (I purchased this car in 2023 and the day I purchased it, I was driving home and found out that the horn had lost sound, I called the dealership and they told me to bring it up the next day. When I brought it up the next day it started working again and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. I then went back home and by that next week my horn was completely not working so I had to bring it back up to my dealership. ) my horn not working puts me and others in risk for many of reasons. For starters, it takes away my primary warning and communication tool on the road. I have no way to warn others if they are drifting into my lane, backing into me or any other accident that can happen while driving. I have taken my car to the dealership to get it fixed multiple times. This has been a problem since the day I bought my car. Every time my horn is about to fully short out, it slowly loses its sound and will come and go for multiple days slowly losing sound. I don't have my recent documentation from taking it to the dealership to get fixed, but I have one or two forms from the beginning.

Equipment problem #3

This is the 7th time my vehicle has been parked and over night killed a battery. It’s been replaced 3 times and this battery lasted 8 months and now my vehicle is dead again. Also you can’t lock your vehicle if the battery is completely dead.

Equipment problem #4

Yesterday my horn ceased working again and someone almost side swiped me. This is the 3rd time on my 2023 Elantra. I have 2 Hyundai Elantras that have had to send to the dealership to replace the horns multiple times. I had the same issue with my venue, which appears to have had some type of NHTSA action, and feel that the Elantras should be included on said action as they utilize the same horn components. Equipment problem #5

The vehicles horn does not when pressed. Multiple other users have complained of the same issue affecting their vehicle as well.

Equipment problem #6

Horn stopped working at at around 30,000 miles. After taking it to the dealership to get fixed it stopped working at 70,000 miles again.

Equipment problem #7

The issue involves the hybrid electric powertrain or electrical control system in my 2023 Hyundai Elantra limited hybrid. The vehicle has shut off multiple times while driving, with complete loss of power and propulsion. This poses a serious safety risk, as it happens without warning in the middle of the road. Restarting the car requires shifting into park and trying multiple times to turn it off, but the vacuole turns back on the first try. I have experienced this issue several times, including twice during a 300-mile highway trip. After each shutdown, the dashboard displays multiple warning lights, including the check engine light, battery light, oil pressure light, and hybrid system warning (orange car icon). I took a photo immediately after the most recent failure to document these warnings. The vehicle has been inspected three times by two different Hyundai dealerships. Both confirmed the vehicle is under warranty but have not repaired or diagnosed the issue, citing that they cannot replicate it. They have driven it ~200 miles without success. However, they have not pulled ecu data or freeze-frame codes, even though warning lights were active at the time of failure. There are no symptoms or warning messages before the failure — the vehicle shuts off suddenly. The car is available for inspection, and I am in the process of opening a formal case with Hyundai. This is a significant and recurring safety hazard that must be addressed. This issue has an occurred a various speeds including during acceleration and braking. The picture attached is the dashboard after the I indent has occurred and have shifted to park after stopping to try and restart the car to get out of the middle of the road.

Equipment problem #8

Unknown I had the lane assist feature on and was taking the second lane from right to turn off to exit when the alarm went off, the wheel turned itself and it started braking. There was nothing where it was trying to avoid and actually almost had me run into another by turning me left back onto the freeway while trying to stop. It’s never happened to me before and I take that way regularly.

Equipment problem #9

I bought my car April 2023 brand new. I noticed today the horn was not working. I have less that 30k miles on my car. Hyundai is telling me the horn is not included in the warranty. Someone cut me off and I tried to honk my horn to tell them they were close and it didn't work.

Equipment problem #10

Both high and low horns failed and the vehicle has 61,000 miles. Hyundai said this is a “known issue” to the point that they keep these parts in stock and replace them regularly. This is a safety concern, and required for safety inspection.

Equipment problem #11

Horn has stopped working. A driver was about to change lanes into my vehicle on the highway, and I went to honk my horn to alert them, but it would not work. It is unclear if the issue is with the sensor in the steering wheel, or with the wiring or horn itself. I have continued to test the horn over the next few days and confirmed that the issue is persistent. The lack of a horn meant I was nearly able to avoid an accident by swerving away from the other vehicle. If there had not been a gap in traffic, I wouldn't have been so lucky. The vehicle is available for inspection. I have an appointment with the dealer on Friday 1/3/25 to have this addressed, likely under warranty. No one else has inspected the vehicle at this time, and there are no warning notifications, etc.

Equipment problem #12

Horn just stopped working! fuses are intact. I see this is a consistent complaint for this model. Cannot pass safety inspection and I’ve only had the car for a year.

Equipment problem #13

The rear view backup camera doesn’t show. Some days it works most of the time it’s green and distorted. I know it’s common issue so it should be apart of the 21-22 Elantra recall.

Equipment problem #14

The horn on my car has completely stopped working. We have checked the fuses, but that is not the issue. A "google" search reveals that this is a common, and known, issue and happens to the 2023 trim models; not just the Elantra, but others as well.

Equipment problem #15

There was a recent over the air software update. Since the update, the speed limit shown on the dashboard, does not match the posted speed limit. This causes the cruise control to change from 70mph, to 55mph. This happened a few times, and always at the same place on the PA turnpike. Yesterday it did it and there was a tractor trailer behind me. When my car started to decelerate, the driver of the truck laid on the horn because he had to react quickly. I am lucky that he did not hit the rear of my car. This is a safety issue! also, why does Hyundai feel the need to control drivers speed, especially when there is no government mandate to do so.

Equipment problem #16

The car has been making clicking noise when braking or acceleration for about a year. I had all recalls software updated. I have brought it in multiple times. First saying a wheel bearing needed replacement, then a lose bolt. It helped for a while and then the clicking started again. Then the system failure occured recently and all the lights came on. The dealer currently cannot figure out what the issue is. The abs light is on and the brakes don't seem to be working properly. I can't safely drive the vehicle and have no car to drive now. I have had the car a little over two years so lemon law most likely does not apply to this situation.

Equipment problem #17

My 2023 Hyundai Elantra has started alerting me while driving that I was going the wrong way down a road. The alert goes something like: warning entering into wrong way detected. This occurs when I'm driving the correct direction. I've googled the issue and other Hyundai owners have documented receiving the same message. I believe this is dangerous if one is driving someplace unfamiliar and receives this message. It has the potential to alarm a driver into making a u turn and traveling into oncoming traffic.

Equipment problem #18

Car horn doesn’t work.

Equipment problem #19

The vehicle's horn has completely stop working as of 01/17/24. I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealership because the Hyundai dealerships did not have any available appointments at the time. The Toyota dealership in ardmore looked at the vehicle to see if there were any issues with fuses and wires. They were unable to find any issues. The dealership recommended I contact Hyundai. I then arranged for an appointment from Hyundai. Several days before the appointment, I was contacted by conicelli Hyundai. They told me they are not taking any new bookings. I put a bad review on conicelli's google review. I received a message from conicelli's customer service department askimg me to call back. I called them back and was told that the service manager will call me back. The service manager called back and I explained that the horn is not working. The service manager told me that they just replaced a horn on someone elses car. He also related that the item is on back order. When I did some google searches for horn issues, I began to see that this is a national problem with their horn failures on various vehicles among different years. I have not driven the car since the horn failure. I believe the horn is on back order because Hyundai is having so many problems with their horn.

Equipment problem #20

So far since owning this vehicle. I have gone through 7 oem windshields. I had a 2010 Ford focus, replaced it with the 2023 Elantra. In 13 years driving the same roads, and only replaced 5 windshields. The windshield thickness needs to be looked into, or what they are made of. Very small rocks are causing the damage, however, what would happen if a much larger rock hit the windshield?.

Equipment problem #21

My headlights severely fog up during night driving or during rain, damp weather, or after any contact with water. This is an extremely common problem with 2021-2023 Hyundai Elantra (all trim levels) and causes extreme low visibility at night. Another issue is the horn which is also extremely common on 2021-2023 Hyundai Elantra (all trim levels) and mine has gone out completely twice and been replaced twice. My headlights have been inspected with the issue replicated and was told that it will not require any work because it’s “normal to have fog inside headlights” and no warranty work will be done to fix this safety issue.

Equipment problem #22

The horn constantly fails and needs to be replaced. This is not only an issue with the Elantra, as I've seen it as a common issue among a range of Hyundai vehicles. Even my local dealership has many horns on hand, as it is so common for them to be replaced, as they stated. I've gone through 2 horns in less than a year. This is complete negligence on Hyundai's part, as the horn is a critical safety feature of any highway vehicle. They replace it knowing it's going to fail, completely disregarding the safety of both the operator and nearby car and foot traffic.

Equipment problem #23

On two occasion vehicle abruptly shuts down leaving me with no control of vehicle. 1st incident , I was turning corner when car made a loud screeching noise and completely shut down ,I had no control over breaks or steering. Car sat for several hours before I could start it up, I did attempt to drive it down the street. I called to have vehicle looked at by dealership. They were unable to duplicate what happened . I received car back drove it for 2 weeks and then same thing happened, this time I was on a busy road when it shut down making loud screeching noise . I let vehicle roll while I struggled to pull over . I had no control over vehicle something is triggering vehicle to shut down . I am very concerned this will continue happening and it could result in a serious injury or fatality . Dealership as of today has no resolution to this problem , they still have my vehicle in their shop .

Equipment problem #24

Dealership says there is no recall tied to this vehicle. But Hyundai recall website, says yes my VIN/vehicle has an incomplete recall.

Equipment problem #25

My vehicle usually would turn on the warning light stating that the engine oil level is low when I accelerate. The last time I had an oil change, it would turn on when I accelerate my vehicle to merge on the highway. I have had my engine oil level sensor changed out in my vehicle by a Hyundai tech. Immediately after my sensor was changed and I merged on to the nearest highway, it went on again when I increased speed. My vehicle has been inspected by a Hyundai dealer but it could not be fixed. This does not happen when you are at a consistent speed but rather when the car needs to accelerate.

Equipment problem #26

When I try to accelerate its like it isn't getting gas or there's something preventing it from going. Once it stops struggling it takes off all at once. When it struggles you can feel the vehicle hesitate. It has less than 5000 miles on it. There shouldn't be a single problem with jt n?.

Equipment problem #27

Your board ordered Hyundai to do a recall on 50,000 2023 vehicles due to a chance of oil pump fire. In the news brief it was mentioned that Hyundai wouldn’t start sending out recall letters till the end of September so therefore no info exists for my VIN number. My efforts through Hyundai to find out if my vehicle has been affected have been fruitless although they did open a case number. Your warning suggested not parking vehicles near residences. Impossible to follow where I live. I reside in a part of California regarded as extreme fire risk and this recall has made me quite nervous. I asked Hyundai to provide me with a rental car until they were ready for repair and replacement and this too was fruitless. Does your board have have any suggestions or can you offer assistance? if you need the case number I can provide that. I cannot quite understand why they can’t provide the affected VIN numbers if they know the total number of vehicles affected. Regards, rochelle.

Equipment problem #28

On my way home waiting for the green light the car would not respond to the accelerator. . The engine would rev up on the tachometer but would not move. Finally the engine responded and the car took off reaching 83mph in a matter of seconds. After release of the accelerator I was able to get the car under control. At the next traffic light even with my foot on the brake the vehicle lunged forward nearly striking the car in front. I put the car in neutral and was able to use neutral and low gear to get it back home. . . The car was towed to the dealership the next morning.

Equipment problem #29

When on a test drive before the purchase of my vehicle, I and my family smelt a burning smell in the cabin. On return from the test drive, we informed our sales person who told us this was characteristic of a hybrid vehicle, and the smell will go away. It has been almost two months and 1,400 miles; the smell is still there. I don't know how and why it comes, but it definitely is smelt from time to time. I cannot duplicate it at will. I did take it to the dealership's service department, they kept it overnight and could not find any issues. When the technician took me for a test drive, it was there when I started the vehicle, but he said he did not smell burning smell, instead he said it was leather smell. I have had several people in my vehicle smell the burning smell, the problem is I cannot duplicate it on demand.

Equipment problem #30

In the 4 corners of the moonroof where the metal roof meets the moonroof, there is a visible dent/metal tension in each corner. After receiving professional opinions for local body shops, they've all come to the same conclusion: the moonroof was improperly or poorly installed at the factory, which is leading to the moonroof dragging down on the metal corners of the roof leading to visible tension/dents in these spots. Furthermore, the issue is continuing to worsen as time goes on.

Equipment problem #31

The right back and front windows on this car does not work. There are times when all 4 windows do not work and all 4 doors will lock up and cannot be open from inside nor outside. This is a huge safety hazard. I took the car back to the dealer a total of 6 times. They worked on the car 4 of those six times trying to fix the issue which still exist. They finally told me there is nothing more they can do at this point. I said ok then, so it's clear the car is a lemon, so I would like a manufacturers buy back. They have ignored me. This has been going on since March 5th of this year. I took the car to another dealer for a second opinion and was advised the car is a lemon so I should contact corporate. I was provided the contact information for corporate and so I called and made a complaint. Corporate advised they would have reached back out on June 14th of this year, and to this day I have hear nothing back. I am extremely terrified of driving this car because, what is there is a fire or something, and I can't get out of the car? this car is a real safety issue and all I have gotten from the dealer is disrespect over and over and over. At one point I went back to them letting know again I do not want the car and u was asked by one of their sales person if this is about money. How insensitive. I am paying for a car that I can't even drive. I have parked this car since June 25th of this year and have to now be relying on uber or begging persons a ride. Most time it's very inconvenient. I have tried to speak with the dealer numerous amount of times, but to no avail. I don't know what else to do. Please advise accordingly. Anticipating your favorable response.

Equipment problem #32

Sunroof exploded while driving.
