1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2026

Electrical component with car has been malfunctioning. Adas system malfunctioning (all the lights on the dash have been coming on in and out at different times) despite turning the car on and off. Video and picture evidence has been collected on different days and times this issue has been happening. Blinkers do not work when this is happening. Concerned for safety while driving. Hyundai dealership is not helping and blowing me off.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2025

Horn is inoperable due to internal fault. Horn receives power when button is depressed, relay actuates, but horn does not sound. There is no warning system in place for this fault.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2025

This is the 7th time my vehicle has been parked and over night killed a battery. It’s been replaced 3 times and this battery lasted 8 months and now my vehicle is dead again. Also you can’t lock your vehicle if the battery is completely dead.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

Low pressure oil light did not come on until the oil drain plug had completely fallen out. Once the light came on, the vehicle was slowed and came to a stop on the side of the highway within 2 minutes. The car completely shut off as if the battery were dead. It had to be jumped in order to put the car into neutral for the tow truck. The safety issue is that the hwy we were traveling on is 70mph. At no time, did we receive a warning until it was almost too late. The car is currently at an auto repair shop as the engine is most likely catastrophic and due to the car having no power, they want to replace not only the engine but also the 12 volt battery and it's module. The low pressure oil warning should have come on way before the plug completely fell out and the battery should not be dead. The mechanics can't even fathom why an engine would fail quickly and drain the battery as well.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2025

I am reporting a recurring issue with my 2023 Hyundai Elantra where the low oil pressure warning light illuminates consistently during strong acceleration. This is accompanied by a distinct smoky odor from the vehicle. Based on my research into recall 23v-859, which addresses fire risks from a faulty electronic controller for the oil pump in the idle stop & go system, I believe my vehicle is experiencing a related or identical failure. The symptoms strongly suggest that the defective oil pump controller is malfunctioning under load, potentially leading to dangerous overheating and a short circuit.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2025

The horn has failed four times on my vehicle, and I have owned and maintained it since November 2022. While Hyundai has replaced it under warranty at no charge, I foresee this being a continuing issue.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2025

The issue involves the hybrid electric powertrain or electrical control system in my 2023 Hyundai Elantra limited hybrid. The vehicle has shut off multiple times while driving, with complete loss of power and propulsion. This poses a serious safety risk, as it happens without warning in the middle of the road. Restarting the car requires shifting into park and trying multiple times to turn it off, but the vacuole turns back on the first try. I have experienced this issue several times, including twice during a 300-mile highway trip. After each shutdown, the dashboard displays multiple warning lights, including the check engine light, battery light, oil pressure light, and hybrid system warning (orange car icon). I took a photo immediately after the most recent failure to document these warnings. The vehicle has been inspected three times by two different Hyundai dealerships. Both confirmed the vehicle is under warranty but have not repaired or diagnosed the issue, citing that they cannot replicate it. They have driven it ~200 miles without success. However, they have not pulled ecu data or freeze-frame codes, even though warning lights were active at the time of failure. There are no symptoms or warning messages before the failure — the vehicle shuts off suddenly. The car is available for inspection, and I am in the process of opening a formal case with Hyundai. This is a significant and recurring safety hazard that must be addressed. This issue has an occurred a various speeds including during acceleration and braking. The picture attached is the dashboard after the I indent has occurred and have shifted to park after stopping to try and restart the car to get out of the middle of the road.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2025

While driving in a parking lot. The car wouldn't accelerate. Kept pressing on the gas pedal but the car wouldn't move. After about 5 seconds the car shut down. I had to place the car on p then press the start button, pressed the brake pedal and then the start button again and the car turned back on.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2024

For the second time in two years, my horn suddenly stopped working. About 6 months after purchasing the car, the horn began to sound high pitched. Then about three weeks later the horn stopped working, requiring the replacement of the horn. A month later, the horn sounded high pitched again. Hyundai advised me the horn is a "two-horn system" in which a high pitch and low pitch horn produce the horn noise. The low pitch keeps failing. About 4 months after the horn was only sounding a high pitched sound, the horn stopped when I hit the horn to avoid an oncoming driver.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2024

The transmission is slipping to the point that I have almost gotten in several accidents due to impatient drives and the car not engaging in gear like it should. Vehicle also has several electrical faults reverse braking system engages at random with nothing in its way,the key not in vehicle warning will sound randomly while key is in vehicle, horn stopped working out of nowhere, while washing vehicle with keys in pocket vehicles key warning system will sound about every 30-60 seconds only when washing vehicle, random front collision warning system with nothing in front of vehicle, seat height adjustment randomly stops working but the rest of the electric seat adjustment works then seat will start working again at random. When taken to dealership for diagnoses the dealer refused to diagnose electrical issues unless I paid out of pocket even though vehicle is under full warranty and all systems listed are warrantied.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2024

The car has been making clicking noise when braking or acceleration for about a year. I had all recalls software updated. I have brought it in multiple times. First saying a wheel bearing needed replacement, then a lose bolt. It helped for a while and then the clicking started again. Then the system failure occured recently and all the lights came on. The dealer currently cannot figure out what the issue is. The abs light is on and the brakes don't seem to be working properly. I can't safely drive the vehicle and have no car to drive now. I have had the car a little over two years so lemon law most likely does not apply to this situation.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2024

I experienced an issue where I was driving the vehicle, and then a "hybrid system fault" message appeared on the driver information display followed by the complete loss of power. This made me have to pull over to the side of the road with no ability to accelerate out of the way of traffic to come to a stop. Once I was stopped I tuned off the vehicle and tried to turn it back on, but the vehicle would not respond so I attempted pressing the 12 volt battery reset button to the left of the steering wheel to see if this would allow me to turn the vehicle on and the car came back to life with no warning lights or messages and drove normally. This happened three more times over the course of ~1. 5 hrs on my way home on the highway. I understand that things happen, I just wish there was more warning before all power was cut and the vehicle went into limp mode as this left me in a dangerous situation. The vehicle has been dropped off at the dealer and is awaiting a new hybrid battery replacement under warranty.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2024

While driving in a straight line my brakes and brake pedal were activated without any pressure being applied and maintaining about 45 mph. I pulled over to check the car and see if there was anything stuck in the wheel well and saw nothing. I got back in my car and proceeded to drive 2 blocks where I then went to park and upon turning left to pull into a parking spot my car immediately stopped and indicated that the emergency brake had been activated. I had not touched the brakes or the hand brake whatsoever and using the handbrake to turn on and off the emergency brake did not fix this I had to just wait until it was released. Upon researching this other drivers of the same model and year have experienced this problem in more dangerous situations on the freeways and at high speeds. I believe the problem has to do with the emergency brake being activated due to an electrical problem.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2024

Hi horn and low horn stopped working after 1 1/2 years of driving and only 7000 miles. This is a safety recall because it will fail west virginia state inspection without the horn working. Also, it puts myself at risk while driving because I can't alert oncoming traffic if they are heading towards me. This could cause an accident. Hyundai service center will be inspecting the issue on 05/07/24.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2024

Vehicles electronic key fobs and bluelink become deactivated every 12 hours after vehicle is parked. Had vehicle since June 2023 and this has happened 163 times. Dealerships cannot recreate the issue and vehicle battery tests reflect no issues. To start the vehicle, car has to be manually unlocked and 12v battery reset. The vehicles security features become deactivated during the lapse in battery/electronic functions.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2024

On multiple accounts did I find my 2023 Hyundai Elantra sel rear camera not working. Now it displays a green screen and I’ve tested it but with someone directly right behind me while in reverse (not moving) the sensors aren’t going off. This is a huge safety concern for a lot of people who own Elantras.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

The horn constantly fails and needs to be replaced. This is not only an issue with the Elantra, as I've seen it as a common issue among a range of Hyundai vehicles. Even my local dealership has many horns on hand, as it is so common for them to be replaced, as they stated. I've gone through 2 horns in less than a year. This is complete negligence on Hyundai's part, as the horn is a critical safety feature of any highway vehicle. They replace it knowing it's going to fail, completely disregarding the safety of both the operator and nearby car and foot traffic.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

Auto would not go into reverse or drive gears at startup in regular parking space. Received a bluetooth message that drive train would not function. Towed to dealership where problem confirmed. Electric engine ordered along with high voltage wires. Upon installation of these parts it was discovered that the assay harness was severely crimped during construction of vehicle at the factory and had crimped (cut) wires. Parts ordered and repaired. Hyundai refused to install new electric motor, only replaced harness and wires. Please note this appears to be a defective auto as built at the factory.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2023

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. The contact had received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v589000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control) and had the recall work completed by a dealer. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 mph and using the cruise control, she had momentarily disengaged the cruise control to slow for traffic. The contact stated when she reengaged the cruise control the vehicle independently accelerated to nearly 100 mph. The contact was able to slow the vehicle by tapping the brakes. The contact stated the failure became a recurring failure. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had contacted the local dealer where the recall work had been completed but was advised that she would have to wait until December 16, 2023 to take the vehicle in for service. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2023

Animal chewed the wiring harness causing an airbag malfunction warning and transmission failure. My safety was put at risk because the airbag wouldn't work and the transmission failed while I was driving. The vehicle is being repaired right now with a new harness. Talking with the insurance adjuster. I was informed this was a common issue with this vehicle due to the materials the manufacturer uses. The harness is not properly designed with the proper materials for the environment it is used in.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

I have contacted the dealer. I am almost ready to get a lawyer. This is the 4th lemon I’ve been sold. Seat belt is installed wrong. Software updates are available and screaming at me but the dealership will not call me back. Two days now. Hyundai finance has treated me disrespectfully. I have error messages when I enter the car. The hood looks aftermarket and about to pop up. The NHTSA website says this car has recalls but not mine?? what ?? it smells like something is burning from the console. The brake collision is calibrated off. I would have a wreck. It’s not safe. Period.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2023

See attached document for complaint.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2023

On my new car my backup camera has gone out in less than 7000 miles, and from what I have seen is a known defect that the Hyundai line of vehicles have and I want to make it more know of the defunct camera they are selling.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2023

I turned on cruise control at 60 mph and it immediately set itself to 20 mph, braking fast to slow down quickly. This caused the car behind me to slam on his brakes so he would not rear end me. I tried increasing cruise control speed to no avail. I had to turn it off. Once I did not have any cars behind me, I tried once again so I could take a video and of course, it worked as it should. Not five minutes later, my radio turned the volume down to zero, all by itself. 20 minutes later, when I slowed to turn into a parking lot, my car lagged and acted as if it didn't have gas enough to go up a small incline. Pressing on the gas pedal didn't do very much but I made it up the incline and was able to park. I will be calling Hyundai dealership tomorrow where I purchased the vehicle last year. I do not have any type of pictures or recordings as it just happened and it was a pretty scary event considering I was almost rear ended.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2023

My 2023 Hyundai Elantra vehicle displays a low oil pressure message when accelerating. Is this related to the recent recall for the electric oil pump assembly that may overheat and increase the risk of a fire?.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2023

When on a test drive before the purchase of my vehicle, I and my family smelt a burning smell in the cabin. On return from the test drive, we informed our sales person who told us this was characteristic of a hybrid vehicle, and the smell will go away. It has been almost two months and 1,400 miles; the smell is still there. I don't know how and why it comes, but it definitely is smelt from time to time. I cannot duplicate it at will. I did take it to the dealership's service department, they kept it overnight and could not find any issues. When the technician took me for a test drive, it was there when I started the vehicle, but he said he did not smell burning smell, instead he said it was leather smell. I have had several people in my vehicle smell the burning smell, the problem is I cannot duplicate it on demand.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the rear cross track warning light was illuminated, and applied the brakes independently, causing the vehicle to independently steer to the right. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated he had experienced the failure a total of 5 times. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated he continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer and to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2023

I was rear ended and the air bags didn't deploy. The police and body shop said they should have. The car is unmodified and dealer serviced.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2023

I purchased a car on December 24th 2022 and from the day I left off the lot there were electrical signals showing that the car was malfunctioning. I told alex (the dealer) what was taking place and the dealership never called me or tried to assist with any problems. For months the signals were coming on and off and my last straw was when my windshield wipers stopped working in the middle of a rain storm after I had just made an in person complaint for the 3rd time about my electrical issues on the car while at the dealership on may 13th 2023. I had just been told there was nothing they could do and I called them upon leaving to tell them I could not see while driving because my wipers were not working. They told me to just go home. Travis nash (new car sales manager) hung up on me 5/17/2023 after telling me I am making assumptions when I was shown proof that the car had issues by the service department when they finally serviced my car about my complaints on 5/16/2023. He told me he was never made aware when I emailed the service manager all of my proof the day prior. I called 5 times before I could actually reach travis who would have been alex's supervisor. They even hung up on me prior to speaking to him. I am completely disgusted & I do not feel safe in this car. Travis did not want to give me anything in writing that he was saying over the phone. He would not even send me an email. I don't feel valued I feel used. At this point I don't even know or have faith in this company. I am so hurt and as I told him if I were to die because of the issues then maybe he would have took accountability instead of blaming service or anyone else. I even contacted Hyundai corporate and they said there is nothing they can do because the dealership is a family run private Hyundai dealership. I have proof of all records and I will be attaching it. Attached shows different milage dates, of incidents, official text and emails that were unanswered.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2023

The right back and front windows on this car does not work. There are times when all 4 windows do not work and all 4 doors will lock up and cannot be open from inside nor outside. This is a huge safety hazard. I took the car back to the dealer a total of 6 times. They worked on the car 4 of those six times trying to fix the issue which still exist. They finally told me there is nothing more they can do at this point. I said ok then, so it's clear the car is a lemon, so I would like a manufacturers buy back. They have ignored me. This has been going on since March 5th of this year. I took the car to another dealer for a second opinion and was advised the car is a lemon so I should contact corporate. I was provided the contact information for corporate and so I called and made a complaint. Corporate advised they would have reached back out on June 14th of this year, and to this day I have hear nothing back. I am extremely terrified of driving this car because, what is there is a fire or something, and I can't get out of the car? this car is a real safety issue and all I have gotten from the dealer is disrespect over and over and over. At one point I went back to them letting know again I do not want the car and u was asked by one of their sales person if this is about money. How insensitive. I am paying for a car that I can't even drive. I have parked this car since June 25th of this year and have to now be relying on uber or begging persons a ride. Most time it's very inconvenient. I have tried to speak with the dealer numerous amount of times, but to no avail. I don't know what else to do. Please advise accordingly. Anticipating your favorable response.
