While driving up an incline the vehicle began to make a grinding noise. Shortly thereafter the car began shaking, with the check engine and esc lights both coming on, then a sudden stoppage of acceleration, and then engine shut down while the vehicle was still in motion. This caused the immediate loss of steering and the brakes to go soft. The vehicle sat for 10 minutes before re-starting; however, after driving approximately 100 feet, the car once again made the grinding noise, engine and esc light illumination, shaking, and then shut down. This is the third time since purchasing this vehicle in March of 2008, that the engine has stopped working while driving. The dealership has replaced a throttle sensor twice, the last time being October 18, 2009, and it is currently in the shop again for the same problem. This is just one of several ongoing problems and concerns with this vehicle. Most notably outside of the sudden loss of power and engine shut off described, the brakes have been checked on several occasions for noises, violent shaking, and loss of function to which the dealership states that they are not worn or warped or this is normal for this vehicle. The tires have no grip and spin on both dry and went road conditions making sudden acceleration impossible and dangerous. The vehicle has also been checked for the lack of gas mileage approximately 13 mpg city and 16 mpg highway, well less then the 19/21 on the sticker.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Entourage. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off and the electronic stability control and tire pressure monitoring system indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to capitol Hyundai(2820 eastern blvd, montgomery, al) for repairs, but the failure recurred. No diagnosis information was available. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the transmission, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000. The VIN was invalid.

1. Driver side sliding door has not worked properly since purchase. Also happens on occasion with passenger side sliding door. Herculean effort needed to open them. Very risky in emergency situation. 2. Tire pressure monitoring system failure. In replacing all 4 tires at 47,000 miles (10-25-08) , the valve stems containing the tire pressure monitoring system were not removable without tremendous effort. Once reinserted, the valves proceeded to flatten one of our new tires and seriously reduce inflation in another. Result: need another new tire and replacement of valve stems.
My 2007 Entourage limited has several quality deficiency issues and recurring maintenance issues. The rear sliding doors (both) have been worked on several times, yet they continue to malfunction, I. E come undone/re-open, not fully latch, and consistently beep as a notice of failure. This is where my babies sit, both of them. The dvd screen has been replaced because it quit functioning properly. The van shimmies or rattles at speed around 70 mph. It causes the center console to shake vigorously. The wheels were balanced on a special wheel balancer but this only reduced the problem. The tire pressure monitoring system has had malfunctions multiple times. There is a whine from the steering column when the wheel is turned, the alternator is creating a whine over the stereo system intermittently(really annoying), the side mirrors have both had problems with the reverse/angle function where the mirrors' motor fails to return the mirror to its user preset setting when transmission is placed out of reverse(drivers side) or fails to tilt the specified degree in reverse(passenger side). The roof leaked when the van was completely shut and had to be resealed by a specialist to correct an existing deficiency, the seal around the glass for the sunroof is degrading and cracking. The sliding rear door on the drivers side has a crimped window channel seal. This shop also stated that they "had not seen one of these [entourage] vans with so many problems". The door handles and rear high mount stop light had to be replaced due to the packing/shipping poly wrap ruining the chrome and plastic lens. The gasket for the high mount stop light had to be replaced later due to workmanship or material quality. The windshield cracked/failed (1/2" chunk of the windshield) when my wife adjusted the rear view mirror. The idler pulley has been replaced because the bearing failed. Stripping around the sliding doors are fading already and yellowing. More not enough space.
