On November 2014, purchased Hyundai Equus from bob king Hyundai located in winston-salem, nc. Within a month, our headlights flashed on and off for a brief second. Occurred more often after that and the dealer checked the car to resolve problem. Nothing found. Months later, problem got more severe and once again dealer tried to fix and could not find a problem. Two or three times car went back to dealer and also a Hyundai dealer in hickory, nc and once again, nothing was found defective. Over the past year, car has experience longer periods of light going off. Recorded on dash-cam at 1:00am on interstate 77 lost of lights for 5 seconds at 70mph. I can supply a copy of that event if needed. I would say that I traveled over 300-500 feet without lights at that speed which could have been fatal. No warming lights or messages about the fault. I wrote the president of Hyundai motor company on December 3, 2022 with certified mail and return receipt and have not heard or been contacted by the company. I think this is a possible accident waiting to happen and injuries being incurred. Please help me with this issue as the safety of me and my family are at stake. Thank you for your attention into this matter. Cordially, fred crump 4958 river bend road claremont, nc 28610 cell: 828-244-5555 hom: 828-459-7080.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Equus. The contact stated that the powder coating from each wheel detached and lodged between the brake pads and rotors causing the braking system to malfunction and the braking distance to be extended. The failure occurred to all four wheels. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer - brandon Hyundai located at 9915 e adamo dr, tampa, FL 33619, where the debris was removed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed by a powder coating expert that the cause of the failure was due to a faulty powder coating application process. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100.
After several failed attempts to find a service center or authorized dealer to adjust my alignment, I felt it was necessary to file a complaint regarding my concerns about my vehicle's front tire alignment. My most recent experience occurred on December 14, 2016 after getting a new set of tires for my car. Included in the tire fitting service was a wheel alignment check and adjustment. However, this is not the first time I have encountered issues with a service center saying they are unable to adjust my front camber and castor adjustments because the "manufacturer does not specify" what these alignments should be. Perhaps the strangest part about this is the fact that there are specifications for the rear wheels. I have even contacted several Hyundai authorized dealerships here in indianapolis and they too indicate they are unable to make the proper adjustments. My last resort was to contact Hyundai USA technical service to see if they could offer advice and they're only feedback was that I needed to visit a local authorized dealer for support . . . . . Fortunately, I have not been in a life-threatening safety situation due to this defect but without the ability to properly adjust the alignment my tires will never wear proportionately. This is incredibly concerning because the tread life on any tires I have installed on my car continues I lessen. I felt inclined to report this issue to the department of transportation because I can only imagine this is an issue that's impacting all Hyundai Equus owners. It is also concerning that no one seems to have the right answer on how to correct the problem. Attached you will find paperwork from my most recent attempt to get the wheels aligned . I am hopeful you can help bring light to this issue and help correct and future problems for all Equus owners.
I was driving on a two lane rod in laurel, maryland. My car hit a pothole and I got out to look and discover that I had two flat tires on the passenger side. The roadside assistant showed me that the front rim was split and the back tire had a hole on the side. This is the second incident concerning the front wheel of the car. I believe this is a defect.
. We have had 3 blowouts ,on three different occasions. The tires are continental ,275/40/19. The first one was in,new jersey, driving at approx 35-40mph,approx with10k wear onthe tire. Tire was replaced at brad benson rte 1,NJ. The second blowout was in may 2015 with about 20k onthe tire in miami,FL,speed 35mph. . Tire was relaced at del ray Hyundai rte 1fl. The third blowout was in maryland on i95 ,sept 18,2015,with 23k wear on the tire. Approx speed 70-75mph. Tire was replaced,at bel air Hyundai MD. The mgr malcolm duncan, tel. No. 410-838-0222 at bel air has taken photos of the damage to the tire. He would welcome an inquiryas to why this tire failed. In order to replace the tire they had to cut the tire by hand off the wheel. On each occasion we did not hit any debris. I have contacted Hyundai, equus,on each occasion, about these incidents ,so that they might reconsider using these tires on their cars. I I have also contacted continental tire ,informing them of the incidents. I was met by total complacency, about the incidents. On each occasion they offered me mileage adjustment towards a new tire. I am having the fourth tire replaced on sept30,as I no longer trust these tires. I think that their should be some investigation as to why these tires failed,at various times and speeds. These tires were all original tires from Hyundai.
While we were driving the car, the car's front suspension suddenly failed, the front collapsed and the body of the car nearly touched the ground on flat grounds and dragged against the ground on inclines and declines. The wheels rubbed against the body of the car on turns and the car became very unstable and started to shake. This episode has occurred thrice despite manufacturer's repairs. This second episode resulted in mild whiplash.
