Suspension air block and airbags failing, even after being replaced by dealership 2 months ago. Most recently happened on the interstate at 70 mph. Fixed by dealership only to happen again!! known problem by Hyundai dealership yet keep replacing with same defective part number. Twice have had new parts fail during test drive. Very expensive to repair $10,000 so far and just had the rear airbag go burst. Not safe to drive vehicle!! never know when it will go out again. Last one just lasted two months!! will never get money back from selling the car! just want a safe vehicle and Hyundai needs to provide parts that work and are not a safety hazard!!.

I was driving my 2014 hyundia Equus on the interstate going 65 mph when my from suspension collapsed. The air ride suspension failed as I was driving. The car became unstable as my safety and the safety of those around me could have been catstrophic. By the grace of god, I was unharmed and able to get off the road without harming anyone in the process. The turning ratius was cut to 1/4 of its full capabilities as the entire front of the car has collapsed completely where the tire is rubbing against the top of the wheel well. Hyundia's solution is for me to convert me entire suspension to a third-party coil kit as they no longer make the airbag components to fix my problem. They also want to charge $6,000 for the process. Imagine not being able to find a key safety component for a 9-year-old car forcing the owner to pay $6,000 for a complete conversion that isn't even supported by hyundia?! they literally took zero responsibility for their lack of sound engineering. Another alarming fact is no warning lights or messages appeared before or after, it's like the car didn't even register the problem.

Engine failure/thrown rod in engine while drive. 90k miles.
The air bag suspension in these model cars are a known issue and they been known to fail almost every Equus has this same problem and Hyundai knows about it.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Equus. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently dropped down, causing him to nearly lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear strut assembly, air springs, solenoid module, ecu, and connector assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,899.
Car is equipped with an air bag suspension system. There was a failure with the airbags around 18 months ( in 2016) of the car being put in service. I was driving on a hway at 70 mph w/grandkids in the car when the airgbags failed and the nose of the car immediately went down and the car started to veer. Luckily there was no other cars around me and I was able to slow down and pull off the hway. Coincidentally, I was just a mile from the dealership and immediately took the car to them and they gave me loaner car and took it in to repair under warranty. Approximately 18 months later, the air bags failed again and the car was just past warranty so I paid for the repair but contacted Hyundai and they reimbursed me. Hyundai told me they had problems with the design of the airbags and redesigned it which is what my car was then equipped with. The air bag system has failed twice more since then. The most recent incident caused many problems with the car. The air bag system had a leak and caused the compressor to keep filling them. I don't believe this compressor was built to be in use so much and caused my battery and alternator to fail, then the compressor itself finally failed. All this took place because of the faulty suspension air bag system. I believe Hyundai was negligent in not issuing a recall when the airbags originally failed back in 2016 as it could have led to a bad accident. I went on line and found many chat rooms with people having had the same or similar experiences to me. Hyundai is well aware of the problems with the system yet has chosen to ignore it and hope the problem goes away. Because of all the problems with this suspension, they have since done away with it and gone to a standard suspension system on all the newer cars that are similar to mine ( now genisis). They need to do something for all the older cars still on the road with this old suspension. The date listed below is for the last incident mentioned in this document.

From the desk of lmi's executive director: ronnie e. Alexander I purchased 2012 equss on March 7, 2012 with 108,216 miles. The cars suspension started going bad as of last week. I brought the car back on March 20, 2020 to have a mirror replaced and to discuss the suspension problem. It's been over a week and today them after a 45 minute drive I was told they had the wrong mirror. . . Even though I spoke with the service person (brandon) and he assured me everything was in order and he even scheduled an appointment for them to replace the mirror. While I was there I showed brandon the suspension and I was referred to the sales manager. Talk to the sales manager and he showed no concern. . . The sales manager gave me a look like, so what do you want me to do about it. I stated my concern and that I've only driven this vehicle 590 miles (to work and home) since I purchased it and the suspension should not be acting up already. I could see if I had the vehicle for some months but I had had it roughly for about two weeks. Again, he showed no concern and restated the "as is" policy. I understand the "as is" part and I admit I did sign the document but the vehicle seemed fine at the time of purchase. My concern is the dealerships attitude after the sale. No one should treat customers that way. I understand why they have good reviews. . . It is because most of them come from people who purchased new cars or cars under warranty (my fault for not doing so) however a business should be able to work with or attempt to try help out a customer (it's called maintaining repeat business and developing customer loyalty).

Malfunction of suspension and no dealership can reset. We been to meridian and hattiesburg dealership and either the equipment was not working or have the proper tools to correct the issue. Always tried to sell us another vehicle. You.
The struts went out while I was driving. After it went out the, tires would touch the fender of the car. It damaged the passenger side and driver side of my front fender. It also rubbed the tread away from the tire due to rubbing against the fender. It was not safe to drive because it was so low to the ground that I almost tore the front fender off.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Equus. The contact stated that on multiple occasions, the front end of the vehicle would lower to the ground without warning. Each time the failure occurred, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer where it was repaired; however, the failure would return soon after repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Similar complaint as NHTSA id number: 11058378. The front end dropped to the ground and the esc indicator illuminated. Noted that the front air-struts were to be replaced. Replaced them in October 2018. However in March 2019, the total car has dropped lower than earlier. This while sitting. Tried to restart car to see if all systems would reset, but to no avail. Too dangerous to drive around.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Equus. While driving unknown speeds, the front end frame dropped to the ground and the stability indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to homer skelton Hyundai (8145 craft rd, olive branch, ms 38654) where it was diagnosed that the suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to barnes crossing Hyundai (3988 north gloster st, tupelo, ms 38804) where it was diagnosed that the air suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 165,000.
I have 2011 Hyundai equss that started having vsm issue that would keep Smart cruise from working>it was resolved to be a brake switch!>during the trips to (2) different Hyundai equss dealerships first in lexington@ glenn's Hyundai & finally after issue was not resolved friendship Hyundai, it was determined to have caster and camber issue on right front wheel>I has the friendship dealership do a (4) wheel alignment and all toe in came good and steer ahead. The remaining issue was right front still was quite a bit out in upper red on both caster and camber. I was told to take to frame shop and I did, they could find no wrong measurements and they are regional multi line car repair facility that does all major insurance company body & frame issues, the engine and both front struts were replaced during it's 100600 mile life but after contacting the Hyundai Equus customer care they referred m back to dealer and he told me help desk gives no answers???how do I resolve and why have they not made a kit like genesis to address the issue??>very disappointed and upset!.
After several failed attempts to find a service center or authorized dealer to adjust my alignment, I felt it was necessary to file a complaint regarding my concerns about my vehicle's front tire alignment. My most recent experience occurred on December 14, 2016 after getting a new set of tires for my car. Included in the tire fitting service was a wheel alignment check and adjustment. However, this is not the first time I have encountered issues with a service center saying they are unable to adjust my front camber and castor adjustments because the "manufacturer does not specify" what these alignments should be. Perhaps the strangest part about this is the fact that there are specifications for the rear wheels. I have even contacted several Hyundai authorized dealerships here in indianapolis and they too indicate they are unable to make the proper adjustments. My last resort was to contact Hyundai USA technical service to see if they could offer advice and they're only feedback was that I needed to visit a local authorized dealer for support . . . . . Fortunately, I have not been in a life-threatening safety situation due to this defect but without the ability to properly adjust the alignment my tires will never wear proportionately. This is incredibly concerning because the tread life on any tires I have installed on my car continues I lessen. I felt inclined to report this issue to the department of transportation because I can only imagine this is an issue that's impacting all Hyundai Equus owners. It is also concerning that no one seems to have the right answer on how to correct the problem. Attached you will find paperwork from my most recent attempt to get the wheels aligned . I am hopeful you can help bring light to this issue and help correct and future problems for all Equus owners.
My vehicle sways like a boat side to side no matter my speed, but on the highway it almost feels like I'm losing control. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and after having it for 4 weeks they returned my vehicle back to me not repaired and no answers to why the issue started. I was told they were requesting an Hyundai field engineer to come out to inspect the vehicle but I have not heard from them in almost 2 months.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Equus. The contact stated that the front shocks were previously replaced under an unknown recall. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced rear suspension failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the rear springs were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, where the rear springs were replaced a second time; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving on an uneven road surface, the vehicle was bouncing, and felt like the wheels were rubbing the front and rear wheel wells. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Test drive before purchasing was stopped after a 1/4 of mile because of heavy front end shaking. Dealership changed tires saying that would fix the problem. Since then it has also fixed front end alignment twice, changed the driveshaft and two rear axles. Vehicle still shakes. Vehicle is perilous to drive on bumpy surfaces when driver has difficulty controlling front end.

While we were driving the car, the car's front suspension suddenly failed, the front collapsed and the body of the car nearly touched the ground on flat grounds and dragged against the ground on inclines and declines. The wheels rubbed against the body of the car on turns and the car became very unstable and started to shake. This episode has occurred thrice despite manufacturer's repairs. This second episode resulted in mild whiplash.

This was the date of the first incident, another incident happened three months later. We were just driving along and the air suspension system failed and the whole car, mostly the front dropped a number of inches, we could barely drive home and had to have vehicle towed, seems to be a very unsafe item. The first time it was the passenger side, second time it was the driver side. I contacted Hyundai, and wanted them to buy back the vehicle, as I have had numerous other small issues go wrong, but this suspension problem feels very unsafe and actually makes me concerned when I drive, they refused to buy it back.
