"I was subjected to a sudden acceleration last night while driving my 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4. 6. I left a full stop and sighted another car speeding toward a stop sign coming from my left. To avoid being broadsided I swerved to avoid and my accelerator jammed. I sped across the street and into a landscaped area. I hit a tree at that point which brought my vehicle to a stop. The driver side air bag deployed and I was wearing a seat belt. I sustained some impact injuries that appear to be of a minor nature. A lake was located just beyond the tree and I deliberately selected the medium size tree as a target. I was fortunate. I sustained a back injury some years ago and drive with two feet - one for the accelerator and one for the brake. There was therefore no chance that my foot slipped from one pedal to the other. In my opinion there is a defect in 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedan v6 model the suspension behavior changes abruptly when going from driving nicely smooth freeways to more stand surfaced urban streets. The ride on the former is normally smooth, firm but acceptable however on the later the wheels bounce so badly that at times they break contact with the street surface. It literally tosses the rear occupants around and makes it difficult for the driver to control the vehicle. I have tried everything I can do including change the wheels back from the optional 18inch rims to 17inch rims and increasing the tire series from the sporty 55 series to the must compliant series 60 tire recommended by the factory.
Have 2009 Hyundai Genesis and had a big problem with the car pulling to the left and then the right. Has been at the dealership over 5 times, multiple repairs of alignment and can't correct the issue. I even had 3 independent shops evaluate and then confirm issue and now Hyundai states they can no longer confirm problem. They were surprised when I produced the independent opinions. I will not place my family in this vehicle. Hyundai needs some pressure to correct this issue and their behavior has been appalling. I realized this issue the day after I picked up the car and Hyundai has been very resistant to help but I think it is because they can not correct the problem.
