I was on the freeway and my car suddenly shut off completely. . Engine, dashboard, lights everything. . It was off for maybe 2 seconds and then the car powered itself back up the car did not stop abruptly, so I was thankful for that. I didn’t panic or pull the wheel. I just continue straight and then thankfully it cut back on and then I got off the freeway as I was driving down the street not going more than 1015 miles my car cut off on me again it did the same exact thing everything just went off and then it cut back on mid drive and I have a four year-old toddler and I have been scared out of my life. Something is clearly wrong I need help please , no one can tell me what the problem is.
While driving the vehicle with approximately 113,200 miles on it, as the original owner, the car engine started to operate erratically. Then the check engine light came on and then the check oil light came on and, after a short period of driving, the car stalled out and would not start up. This stalling out happened in a left turn lane of a very busy road. Two men in a vehicle that stopped behind me got out and pushed me off of the roadway about a block away from a dealer. The car was manually pushed into the dealership. The mechanic checked and the oil was full. The car is available, in my garage, for inspection upon request. The number 1 cylinder valve spring was broken and the engine jumped the timing on both sides with $2792. 53 to $7,086. 78 for parts plus labor to repair. At 86,283 miles, while driving in my village the number 3 intake valve spring broke and was repaired. At 51,574 miles, while driving on the interstate, the number 7 exhaust valve spring broke and was repaired. All three times the vehicle operated erratically. The car was in traffic each time this occurred and my safety and the safety of others were put at risk. I have all the receipts from all three breakdowns including the diagnosis. The engine is apart now and I have the parts list and labor costs from the dealership for the work that needs to be done. Initially I was told by the dealer that I needed to have all 32 valve springs and rocker arm assemblies replaced according to a technical service bulletin. When I protested that they did not do that during the previous repairs the dealer said they would only replace the one that was damaged. That is why there are two parts estimates. I have them both. The check engine light came on just after the engine started to operate erratically and the check oil light came on shortly thereafter. I contacted the manufacturer and they said they could do nothing.
Car randomly turns off while driving. Sometimes my car will go off. Most of the time it turns back on but that is dangerous.

Was driving car to meet my husband and when I turned the corner, he was frantically waving me to get out of the car because it was on fire, in the front under the driver's side bumper. I got out and saw flames shooting from under the bumper. With the fire department on the way, we made several attempts to put the fire out w/water to no avail. A nearby store owner came out with a fire extinguisher and was able to put the fire out. Once fire department arrived, he indicated that it appeared to be an electrical fire. Once they moved the car, my husband attempted to start it and it started billowing out smoke. At that point, the fire department ordered him to turn it off and have the car towed and to not drive the vehicle again.
The car had recently gotten a major service at the dealership in early August. The car had not been driven much since that service as the primary driver was unable to drive the car from mid August through the time of the incident. This is a car that was well maintained through dealership servicing. The car was being driven on the freeway at night at the approximate speed of 65 mph. Suddenly, a loud metallic clank, clank clank came from underneath the car. It sounded as if we had run over something on the freeway. Directly following this, the car lost all power and we noticed the smell of electrical burning. We were unable to accelerate and the headlights began to dim. Luckily, we were able to steer the car off the next off ramp & bring the car to a stop but the power steering and power braking were gone. Had this not occurred on a Sunday night, the results could have been very different. Once safely to the side of , we smelled a strong electrical burning smell in the passenger compartment. We did not witness evidence of fire or smoke. Initially, the lights went out completely. They slowly powered back on but each time keyless start button was pushed, the lights would begin to dim again. The car was towed to the dealership. The dealership called the following day to let us know that the engine had a hole in the block. From their assessment, this was not caused by an external force but from the failure of an internal component. We filed a claim with Hyundai corporate who deemed that the problem was not caused by a manufacturer's defect.
