2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2023

The 2. 0t engine failed and the vehicle is currently at Hyundai service department waiting on my warranty company to do an inspection of the engine. My safety was at risk as the engine failed during normal operation of the vehicle on a busy city street near a blind curve which other vehicles travel at high rates of speed. Hyundai service department has confirmed the engine has failed which it needs to be replaced/rebuilt. Hyundai service department has inspected the vehicle. Waiting on inspection from warranty company. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to the engine failure. Thankfully I was not operating the vehicle on the expressway as I normally do on my way home which could have put me in a much more dangerous scenario when the engine failed. When the engine failed it started to effect other components in the vehicle, as I started to completely lose the ability to maneuver the vehicle putting myself in a dangerous situation.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Genesis coupe. After being parked for three months, the vehicle failed to start. The contact looked under the hood and found rodent excrement, food particles, and noticed that the wiring harness was chewed through. The vehicle was towed to bob baker Hyundai (located at 5285 car country dr, carlsbad, CA 92008, (760) 929-4900) where it was diagnosed that the starter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the mechanic failed to properly diagnose the vehicle. The repair cost $1,300. The contact stated that the check engine and tire pressure monitoring system warning indicators illuminated after the vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact was informed that the engine's wiring harness was soy-based. After the vehicle was repaired, it failed to operate as intended. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,773.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2016

I was driving my vehicle turning on to a main street from a highway. Without warning the car entered limp mode. I did not have any engine response and the car would not do more than about 10 miles an hour. I pulled off the road and restarted the car. I was able to get the car to the dealership. Dealership says car has codes for faulty throttle position sensor and it need to be replaced. I have seen other people with a similar issue.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2014

I have complained at least 2 or 3 times concerning a sudden acceleration from the stop position. The engine revs up and the car takes off without my doing it. I've reported this in 2014, and 2016 - now I see there's a recall for the transmission but my car isn't one of them? really. . .

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2013

Took my car in for servicing and asked them to check my air conditioning unit. No cool air from the system. The technician said a piece of glass and wire resembling part of a tire retread had somehow passed through the grill and damaged the condenser. Thus, freon leaked out over time resulting in lack of cool air. The service clerk said he had heard that this had occurred in the past with other Hyundai Genesis. Interesting how there is no damage to the front end of the car or the grill. Does not sound feasible that a piece of glass (2 inches by 1 inch with quarter inch thickness) and wire (7 inches) could sneak through grill and hit with velocity to damage a condenser with no damage to the grill. Are grill slats too wide or is there a lack of under carriage protection? the dealership kept the glass and wire and suggested that I contact my insurance company as this estimated $1000 item was not covered by the Hyundai 5 year, 60 thousand mile warranty.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2011

While the car is warmed up and at operating temperature, the rpms will "hang" (hover around 2500 rpms) for 3-5 seconds before returning to idle.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2011

Since purchased used from a Hyundai dealer in 2011 with just 11,123 miles & full warranty, this vehicle has had "intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, intermittent ability to remove the vehicle¿¿s shifter from the park position, illumination of the ¿esc (electronic stability control) indicator lamp in the instrument cluster, intermittent interference with operation of the cruise control feature, or intermittent operation of the stop lamps" as cited in campaign 110 released by Hyundai on March 29,2013. I have brought it to the dealers service department on 11 separate occasions, for the above listed issue -to two separate dealers- and while both utilized the Hyundai warranty to the fullest extent, to replace everything from my radio, to transmission modules, to wheel cylinders, none of these issues fixed the problem. When I spoke to Hyundai last week regarding recall campaign 110, I was assigned a case number, but I received a call the next day that my case was being rejected by the regional office. When I brought it to the dealer for the recall repair this weekend, they insisted that they would have to charge me for the visit, despite my complaint being the one listed in the recall. I feel that Hyundai should honor their recall and address this problem in my car at their expense until they rectify the issue cited in the recall, despite the faulty part having been replaced through my factory warranty multiple times, and prior my receiving notice of the recall. Hyundai motor corporation should do what is required to get the car they sold me to be in safe operating condition, and they refuse to do so.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2010

Small pebble went through the front grill while driving my Hyundai Genesis 2010 model and damaged condenser costing me $800. This was not covered for warranty and the sad part is this could happen anytime anywhere again. Hyundai Genesis has no protection on front grill with huge spacing. This is a design defect that needs to be addressed. I still have no air conditioning in my brand new Hyundai Genesis.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2009

This is a recurring hesitation problem. I first noticed this when making a turn into traffic. The hesitation is significant. In some cases there is an acceleration pause of 1-2 seconds. This does not occur every time I accelerate but its lack of predictability is a problem in and of itself. I have come close to being rear ended because the car would just not move when I pressed the accelerator. Also, when the car windows are up and the car sits in the sun for a few hours the central nav and communication system over heats and will not function until it cools off (maybe 20 minutes). In the meantime, back up camera does not work, temperature controls do not work and the bluetooth system does not function.
