The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle lost motive power, shut off but was able to coast off the highway. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the electronic computer motherboard needed to be replaced. Submitted complaint of unsafe fumes /gas smells emitting from engine and into cabin of car to site on 10/23/2023 for my VIN the complaint I see is under tires this should be under engine I said nothing about tires it's a 2012 Hyundai Genesis bh 4 door sedan battery wasn't holding charge engine idles high and low poor gas mileage and sluggish brake light always on even after repair.
The rear view camera continues to not work properly. The camera screen will either display a black or scrambled view or none at all. This happens periodically from month to month. When the screen becomes scrambled, it creates a major safety issue. If there was an person or object directly behind the car when backing up, you would not be able to see it. There are no warnings or notifications from the car when this happens.
While turning at low speeds, the vehicle will turn off completely. This kills all power steering and brakes. This has occurred on several occasions and is documented on the web and Genesis forums by other Hyundai owners as well, so this is not an isolated case. There was no warning of any kind that the car would be shutting down. The problem has not been reproduced by the dealer and that is the problem. . . . You never know when it's going to happen and is extremely dangerous.
I am reporting an electrical problem w my 2012 Hyundai Genesis. My back driver's side door lock just stopped working in 2021 & a few months later , my front passenger seat door locks also stopped working. I brought it in to the dealer this morning to have both locks checked. I know the back seat door lock is the actuator & im assuming that’s the issue w the front one too. I’m waiting to hear back from the dealer what the problem is, but actuators on the 2012 Genesis are defective or it’s an electrical problem. No accidents happened bc of it, I was just told to report this issue.

Vehicle stalled out completely shutting off locking up and seizing out. Components malfunctioning. Hard brake checks, high rpm rrevving, and idleing all are shown when car was traveling at 45 mph and no change in speed. Failure of fluids cause corrosion and hecu. Engine light indicator and engine oil lamp light flickering with no distinct pattern. Proceeded to bang loud in engine. Rpm rev 2-3k before speed catches. Cd player problems. Engine completely stalled 4 times when coming to a stop at a red light. Dashboard lit up with all the icons like it does when you press start on the car without actually turning it on. Ac and radio stayed on but brake pedal and steering wheel tightened up and loss of function in traffic. Had to put gear in park turn off the car and turn it back on. All 4 times it came back on without any problems and took me home. Common issue that others have described and can kill someone!.
Navigation display failure resulting in no back-up camera, no a/v functions, and hvac control malfunction. Dealer replaced within approximately 8 months of purchase. System has failed again and corporate advised that the part was on backorder and we waited for a replacement part for 8 months. Now corporate has advised that the part, a-v monitor assembly part #965633m851, is unavailable/discontinued. No way to repair or replace the part. Vehicle has 44,000 miles on it. Sunroof failed within first 20,000 miles and was sealed to avoid expensive repair. Most recently the car died without warning while stationary. In for evaluation now. This car has been a chronic problem since we first purchased it and corporate has told us that we are at a dead end regarding the a/v monitor assembly - there is nothing they can do. A/v monitor assembly issue occurred in June of 2020.
When turning steering wheel a number of things can happen, radio turns off, steering locks up. All dash lights come on and power batt light lights up. Has stalled in intersection when turning. Trans shifts hard and slips into gear when on a long drive.
Was driving down the freeway in stop and go traffic and had been driving for about 45 minutes. Had a/c on, radio on, phone charger and seat cooling. Suddenly all electronics stopped on the car, loss of power to brakes, power steering and no acceleration. Had to pull over across two lanes of traffic, thankfully the flashers worked and I was able to get to the side of the road. Put car in park and started car up again. Thankfully it was daylight and good weather.

While in route to the dealer for one issue, my Smart cruise light came on. I reported this to the dealer upon arrival and they ignored. They repaired one item under warranty in which I though took care of both. By time I left, allowed the car to warm up; the Smart cruise light came back on. I contacted the dealership & asked them what happened to this 2nd issue. They scheduled an appointment and I was informed by that time and visit; the warranty had expired and I will have to pay $4200 to repair the problem that they now see. I had also been complaining about my abs/esc/auto hold lights were constantly flashing, now they remain solid. It causes the vehicle to jerk when in reverse. I have read about several recalls regarding issue. The situation has gotten worse and I was told it is now leaking brake fluid. The dealership has now given me a price totaling $7000 to repair or purchase a new vehicle. This is money I cannot pay and I know my vehicle was still covered when the problems/ recalls started. These incidents occurred on several dates.
Passenger airbag light is always illuminated, with or without someone in the seat. Called the dealer and they told me that they put a seatbelt label on, and that I can pay $145 for the diagnosis.
Car turned off by itself while driving. Steering and braking were affected and not working.
Every time my car is idle, whether at carport, street light or heavy traffic, the engine runs really rough sounds/feels like it is going to turn off (stop running)also when ac/heater & radio are on it gets worse! it's scary to think I may get stuck in middle of freeway/street every time car is at idle. I've taken it to Hyundai dealer from day one for the issue and even let them know it's still happening every time I take it for engine oil change or other scheduled maintenance and told every time they can't find issue!! I do not remember specific dates, nor did I save all the paper work since I bought the car in 2012! shouldn't dealer have records in their computers? it's been on going since I bought the car in 2012!!.

Drivers side window motor shorted out at 68k miles. It would only intermittently roll up or down, and would get stuck in either condition, allowing rain, snow and dirt to enter the vehicle. Hyundai quoted $680 to repair.
I purchased the car in January 2017 after 2 months of having the car the windows would not go up. I would have to wait hours for it to start back working. The suspension was low for a few weeks then it would slowly come back up. Basically my whole car has electrical problems back up camera goes black, the odometer has dead pixels, car extremely sluggish, the car shakes and kills alot. Also when I turn the heated seats on it turns off within 2 minutes. It is so much the car is doing to say this car has a clean carfax.

Driving home on the 405 fwy last night my Genesis r-spec 5. 0 lost all power, electrical and steering. Fortunately, I was on the right lane and was able to maneuver the vehicle off the fwy. I had no lights, no emergency flashers, complete shutdown of power. It was about 9pm and dark luckily it was not in a lane or this could have been fatal as I could not turn on any lights! extremely dangerous and have reported my incident to Hyundai customer care. Vehicle was towed to dealership pending diagnostics.
What is likely a faulty turn signal stalk causes the vehicle's headlights to either flicker, shut off or flash the high beams regardless if it is stationary or in motion. It manifests itself in various ways; the most recent being on a 5 hour interstate trip. When signaling to change lanes, the high beams would flash which would in turn disturb drivers in front of me. Other times, the lights have flickered and/or turned off entirely for a brief period of time hindering night time visibility. . Read more...
This ihas happened 4-5 times. I was driving on a street, thank god, I was not on hwyway, engine just stalled and streering wheel locked. I was hard but, somehow managed to get on the curbe and avoid a crash. If this would have happened on freeway, it would have been fatal. I think, Hyundai sure know this problem exist in Genesis too. It is same problem ( symptoms) as described in Hyundai's sonata recall. I don't know what is hyundia waiting for. It is a serious problem with a $50,000 car . I have no trust on this car anymore. This would be my last Hyundai. I know, if I take car to dealership , I would hear response that , no issue found. Genesis has a serious engine problem with stalling.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. When the vehicle was started, the front windows were lowered and the driver side window switch became inoperable for approximately five minutes. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
The car stalled and engine shut off while moving. I was driving on a surface street when the car shut off, all indicator lights were on, temp gauge was normal, fuel tank was more that 3/4 full. The car started up again and drove away normally.
There has been numerous occasions when my headlights are on and I engage a turn signal, both headlights turn-off for a period of about 1 to 2 seconds. This can be deadly when traveling at a significant speed during hours of darkness.
