Sep 22, 2023 manufacturer recall number251 NHTSA recall number23v651000 recall status: recall incomplete, remedy not yet available June, 2024 it has been 10 months since an alert from Hyundai to park this vehicle outside due to chance of fire. I need this car repaired or repurchased by Hyundai. 10 moinths is far too long for a repair.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2023

Vehicle shuts off at red lights or when making very low speed turns. Indicator on dash shows 'key' symbol and sometimes battery symbol. I then have to shift to park or neutral to push button restart vehicle. Other times I'm parked with vehicle idling and it simply shuts off. This issue puts me at risk because it shuts off while driving on public roads with other vehicles. The repair shop can't find out why this is happening and the vehicle flashes no check engine light and there are no stored codes. This began a couple months after I had a new battery installed in the vehicle and put a new battery in the key fob. Vehicle now, no longer recognizes key fob. I have to manually insert key fob into a key fob slot inside vehicle in order to crank it. This seems to be an issue with the 2012 model Genesis, as I have read on several online forums of other owners experiencing the same problem.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2021

Brake system failure. Brake pedal and goes all the way to the floor. Hyundai dealership explained that the hecu has failed. In 2014 there was a recall on this car for this issue, Hyundai recall 114. This recall was for "genesis sedan hecu inspection and brake fluid replacement". The known issue is that the part breaks down over time and just changing the brake fluid doesn’t stop the corrosion process. The hecu part should have been replaced and not allowed to degrade further as it has now done on my vehicle.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2021

My vechile stalls while driving at various times. This could cause a serious accident in which lives could be lost . This eems to be problem with the Genesis from 2012 to 2016 from my research. I am not the only owner with this problem . The dealers cant find the problem or why it is occuring . The dealers give you numerous reasons as to what might be the cause of this problem, but they are not sure . This could cost a consumer $1000 of dollars just to find out what the problem is . This occurs when just driving down a street, on curves or going straight. I have not had an accident yet! im trying to avoid this . This occurs when my gas tank gets low , that is what I have noticed .

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

Navigation display failure resulting in no back-up camera, no a/v functions, and hvac control malfunction. Dealer replaced within approximately 8 months of purchase. System has failed again and corporate advised that the part was on backorder and we waited for a replacement part for 8 months. Now corporate has advised that the part, a-v monitor assembly part #965633m851, is unavailable/discontinued. No way to repair or replace the part. Vehicle has 44,000 miles on it. Sunroof failed within first 20,000 miles and was sealed to avoid expensive repair. Most recently the car died without warning while stationary. In for evaluation now. This car has been a chronic problem since we first purchased it and corporate has told us that we are at a dead end regarding the a/v monitor assembly - there is nothing they can do. A/v monitor assembly issue occurred in June of 2020.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

My wife and I have a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3. 8 sedan. My wife is the primary driver. She came home one evening and told me that the car failed to stop and went into the intersection as she attempted to stop for a red traffic signal. I immediately drove the car down the street and observed that you had to pump the brakes to stop and the pedal went to the floor. I added some brake fluid and pumped the brakes. I drove the care the next few days and noticed that over time the same thing happened with the pedal going to the floor. I took the car to my mechanic and had all the brakes changed. That cost me over $320. 00. The mechanic advised me that the car had a faulty master cylinder. To shorten the story. Due to the dealer cost of from $275. 00 to $365. 00 for a master cylinder. I bought 2 online and 1 at oreilly auto parts. I spent $105. 00, $81, and $79. 00 for each respectively. Each time the mechanic advised me that the were not compatible. He was so conflicted by the process advised me to take the care to the dealer and told me that with only 91000 miles and a well maintained 4 year old car, it is unheard of for a master cylinder to be faulty. I contacted Hyundai and was told there was no recall nor was my vehicle covered by my factory warrantee. I am a retired auto theft officer so I decided to check with NHTSA for complaints and recalls. I am positive that this recall applies to my car. I have had the same process happen to me regarding the windshield wiper motor. Hyundai would not help so I found a motor at a junk yard. I paid to have it installed. However it only works at one speed. I would like it replaced and a refund for the cost incurred to find and replace it. I also would like the braking system repaired and compensation. Hyundai's recall number is 114. I would like to invoke the lemon law. .

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2015

When driving on freeway at 65mph the engine missed then stalled. I lost power steering and power brakes. Multiple warning lights on. Dealer is not finding anything using computer diagnostics. Loss of steering and brakes at high speeds is not good!!!!.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2013

2012 Genesis r-spec: bluetooth "unpairs" or disconnects from my cellphone and refuses to allow me to reconnect. This takes my attention off the road while I fiddle with it to no avail. The agency will reconnect it to my phone but the connection disappears within 2 days. I'm concerned for my safety and that of others while I try to reconnected or "pair" my cellphone.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2012

The first time it happened I was driving on a 2 lane road when the car just stopped, no warning. After about 15 minutes the car started up again. I brought it to the dealer service department and they kept the car for 2 weeks and told me the car is fine now. The second time it happened my husband was driving the car and was getting off one major road and getting on to another and the car just stopped again. Waited again and the car started up again after about 15 minutes. The third time my husband was driving from my home to the front of my development and the car stopped again no warning. The forth time was just this past week when driving the car on a very busy road and it happened again, this time someone had to push us off the main road so that we do not get hit. I took the car to the dealership again and they have the car right now and I am driving a loaner car. I call Hyundai and started a case and they told me that it is up to the dealership to decide what to do about my car if they can not find the problem. I am refusing to drive the car because I do not know when this is going to happen again and I am afraid. We have been very lucky up to now that we have not had an accident or even worse. Please tell me what I need to do now. By the way this is a leased car.
