Was driving the car and steering wheel locked on a highway on my way to work. Was able to pull it over cut the car off. Started it back up and was find. Then on the way back home happened again when tried to exit off the highway and ended up in a ditch.
2012 Genesis sedan consistently stalls under medium to low speeds while braking or making a turn. All warning lights come on and loss of steering and braking occurs. Car is difficult to control safely without use of emergency brake due to the loss of steering/braking. This incident now occurs with each car trip while traveling on all kinds or roads and at various speeds but not more than 40 miles an hour. I am worried for the safety of my wife and 3 year old child since I take them everywhere with me. Car has been at Hyundai dealership for 4 days and they can not diagnose the problem because there are no fault codes to look up.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and shut off. In addition, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was placed in park and restarted. The contact called the safford Hyundai of springfield dealer at 703-776-9040 (located at 7615 loisdale rd a, springfield, va 22150) and was informed that the failure could be the brakes. The vehicle was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was provided by the manufacturer's consumer affairs division. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Car turned off by itself while driving. Steering and braking were affected and not working.
While making a right turn onto ramp engine falls cuts off and I have no control over steering, breaks or anything. Finally got it on to the side of road and put it in park and it cracked right up. This is very scary. What if I had been going fast down the road and could not stop the car. Someone could be killed like this. I decided to look it up on google and found out that lots of other have had the same identical problems and no mechanic or anyone can find anything. Hyundai needs to be held accountable for this and fix there miss up but of course it will take people being killed first.
Engine shutdown and lost steering and brake control when making a right turn. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Details: on both the times, when I was trying to make a right turn at a slow speed the engine shut down and I lost control of steering was well as brakes. I had to put the car in park, in the middle of the intersection and push button to start the car again. Luckily there was nothing in the way (car or a pedestrian), or else there would have been an accident. This could be an even dangerous issue if this happens when making a left turn or when on a freeway. Please issue a recall for this, and have Hyundai fix this problem.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Genesis. While driving 20 mph and attempting to make a right turn, the vehicle lost power and the instrument cluster indicators illuminated. In addition, the steering wheel seized and caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and run over the median. The contact was able to depress the brake pedal and stop the vehicle. Once at a complete stop, the driver turned off and restarted the vehicle on the first attempt and drove home. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (capitol Hyundai montgomery, 2820 eastern blvd, montgomery, al, 36116), but could not be repaired until two and a half weeks later. Due to the delay, the contact declined to proceed with scheduling diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 65,760.
Driving home on the 405 fwy last night my Genesis r-spec 5. 0 lost all power, electrical and steering. Fortunately, I was on the right lane and was able to maneuver the vehicle off the fwy. I had no lights, no emergency flashers, complete shutdown of power. It was about 9pm and dark luckily it was not in a lane or this could have been fatal as I could not turn on any lights! extremely dangerous and have reported my incident to Hyundai customer care. Vehicle was towed to dealership pending diagnostics.
The car just completely shut down. Fortunately, I had just turned for home on a 25 mph street so I was going slow enough that I could manage to at least get the car to the side of the road. Do not know what would have happened 15 minutes earlier if it had shut down on the busy interstate I was on. It did start back up again, but now am afraid to drive it anywhere. Have contacted Hyundai, but if there follow-up is anything like it has been in the past, it will be a waste of my time. They will just say that they cannot reproduce the problem and send us a coffee mug hoping that will resolve the issue. We have had numerous previous electrical issues: such as car starting back up by itself after being shut off, the radio literally popping on and off, the radio locking on a station (you could change channels, but the same station kept playing), the nav turning on and off by itself. The car had been doing okay this year until this most recent incident where it just flat shut off. Do not trust Hyundai to solve the issue and it is to scary to drive. And I don't believe that there is a lemon law in this state. No matter what, I can assure you that this will be my last Hyundai.
This ihas happened 4-5 times. I was driving on a street, thank god, I was not on hwyway, engine just stalled and streering wheel locked. I was hard but, somehow managed to get on the curbe and avoid a crash. If this would have happened on freeway, it would have been fatal. I think, Hyundai sure know this problem exist in Genesis too. It is same problem ( symptoms) as described in Hyundai's sonata recall. I don't know what is hyundia waiting for. It is a serious problem with a $50,000 car . I have no trust on this car anymore. This would be my last Hyundai. I know, if I take car to dealership , I would hear response that , no issue found. Genesis has a serious engine problem with stalling.
Car's steering tracking to the right consistently at highway speed (within 5 seconds). Two dealers both claim this to be normal after multiple visits. Technician claim their sop only test at 45mph for 7 seconds. Corporate office also refused to help.
Tire wear uneven, right front passenger worst. Constant severe pull to the right able to change lanes to right without hands on steering wheel. And very minimal pull to left at times while driving on highway (most notable) and city streets. While driving feels like car bottoms out over bumps/holes or on city streets/highways with rough road since purchased in 2012. Cannot adjust alignment on right side, right camber always negative and told no fix for this and cause for excessive wear on tire and pulling to right. Paint chipping underneath driver side door on body. Bottoming out and tire pulling to right first looked at on 11/21/2012.
