Unknown. All I know is my son purchased a Genesis coupe used and within less then 48 hours. I watched the vehicle catch fire on the freeway and smoke uncontrollably. As I drove behind him. He was unaware of the first or smoke coming from the car. Finally I got his attention to pull over and now the car won't work. The seller refuses to give him a refund or mechanical assistance for his purchase. It was a sight I wouldn't wish upon no one. To watch your only child drive a car that is on fire and smoking. I wish he saw what I seen. It's unsafe for someone to sale car and someone and allow them to drive away knowing that there safety not at risk. It should be a crime. Illegal misrepresentation of a vehicle safety conditions. It should not matter if it was a dealership or private sales. It's auto fraud and should be punishable by law.

I brought the car in the dealership for the recall (251). The dealership was not able to fix the recall, which affected other parts of the car. The dealership could not fix the other parts. The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer. The dealership did not allow to pick up the car from their parking lot. The manufacturer refuses to pay for the car or other expensives caused by this recall.

This recall is still not fixed. Hyundai is acting irresponsibly in not providing a remedy. It has been at least 5-6 months with no fix available.

While I am driving at around 20 mph, all of sudden engine shuts off, steering wheel is frozen, brake doesn't work, all light remained on dash board. I put it in park and start it. It comes back without any issues. No code are registered so dealer can not see the problem. Also happened in parking a lot about 5 weeks back. This is big safety issue where I might run into somebody without steering wheel and brake control.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated while driving about about 35 mph the sunroof exploded. The contact also stated the temperature was about 54 degrees. The Hyundai was notified of the failure. The manufacturer stated they will send an investigator to review the failure. The dealership was made aware of the failure. The dealership issued a loaner vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 42,525. Bh.

I've seen a lot of these cars and read about a lot of these cars with transmission problems I was sitting on a regular road in park my car slipped into reverse with no warning what so ever while the gear stick was still in drive I think these could have been built stronger or safer to avoid this and that was just one incident out of about 20 but that was by far the worst.

Well it only happens on hot day or in summer. In stop and go traffic. While I'm driving the car all of a sudden gas fumes fill up the inside of my car so bad that I gottta pull over for a while. The other day it happen to me again and I almost passed out while driving. I've taken the car to the dealership several times before and they tell me that theirs nothing wrong with it or they don't know what it is. I've ownd the car since it was new and it's been doing this since then. Now that it almost made me black out while driving was the last srraw for me. It's made me have headaches before but not pass out like the other day. This is why I'm reporting this to you guys hoping you could help me. This only happens when I'm I. Stop and go traffic in the city when it's really hot out.

Stalled twice on the same day - stalled while turning right at the entrance of roundabout at local school. Car lost control due to stall and went cross the opposite lane. All dash lights were on similar to turning car on without turning engine. Fortunately no cars on the opposite side. Quickly shifted to neutral and tried to start the engine. It took 2-3 secs for the engine to start. - stalled again 2 hours later on the same outing when turning right to local restaurant. Car lost control going into parking lot. All dash lights were on. - this is at least the tenth time it happened in our 6 years of ownership with 100k miles on the car. Previous filed odi number 10606872, 10746269, 11221909, 11221913 and 11221917. - weather condition: above 80 degrees. It is possible that the issue has to do with hot weather. Purely speculation here. I also reported may 23rd, 2015 incident to Hyundai customer service back in June 29th, 2015. There were no reply from Hyundai. I will file another compliant to Hyundai again. Stalled twice on the same day - stalled when braking at low speed on a city street prior to a complete stop. Shifted to neutral and tried to start car. Car was trying to start but hesitated. Gave it a hard acceleration, it then ran normal. Second incident on the same trip. - stalled on city street when braking at low speed. Shifted to neutral and started car. Gave it a hard acceleration, it then ran normal. Side note: - could not start after stopped at gas station for refuel (when pushing the start button, it only had the tick, tick, tick noise. ) had to give hard acceleration to get the engine running. Idle was very rough and unstable. Gave hard acceleration to blow out carbon and idle went back to normal. - believe wife took the car to dealer a few days or a week later for diagnostic but no error codes or cause was found. Needed to locate receipt to confirm. - this is at least the eighth time it happened. Previous filed odi number 10606872, 10746269, 11221909 and 11221913. - weather condition: above 75 degrees.

While driving when I go to stop or slow down the brake pedal goes to the floor. It's real hard to stop the car, I brought it to the dealer and I was told that it's the hecu a 3,000 $ fix. I know that other Genesis owners have complained of the same problem. It's very dangerous for me and other vehicles around me. I know that Hyundai has recalled other vehicles for this problem due to faulty brake fluid that distroys the hecu. It sure seems to be what happened to mine.

Most times my car will start when I press the "engine start stop" button my foot is on the brake. Most times it will shut down when the button is pressed. Sometimes it will not. I never know when and if I will have this problem. I took the car to the Hyundai dealer in toms river, NJ. They said it was a faulty start-stop button. I paid them to diagnose the problem. They charged me a diagnostic fee and for a new start-stop button. I drove the car home thinking my problem was solved. The problem was eliminated for two days only to return again. When I advised them of this, I received no assistance. I can not return to this dealer. I simply don't trust them.

The area in my dashboard where my airbag is is starting to split. I have contacted Hyundai and let them know as I feel that this is a safety issue. It is coming open and I am concerned that the airbag will either deploy or not operate correctly if needed. I have seen where this is a common occurance is this vehicle and I feel that it wanrrants a recall.

When stopped at the traffic lights on a city street, the engine stalled for no reason. All lights came on. I had to put the gear in neutral and start the car again. This is at least the fifth time it happened. Previous filed odi number 10606872 and 10746269. Weather condition: above 75 degrees.

My car literally just shut off while I was driving. I tried to turn once and just shuts off. So I took it back to he dealership and they said it was the emc and it did drive good for a couple months. However, when I had to accelerate fast to get by a car and the rpm were up higher than I normally drive it , I went home and it sat for 20 mins top. I get back in and it just shuts off again! I called Hyundai near me and they gave me the run around. Told me I would have to pay for rental car. I said I uber warranty and this shouldn't be happening!! worst experience ever with this car and the dealerships. They seem to know about this problem and know there is no real cute. I don't expect this car to really ever be fixed as I lol be getting something different as soon as I can .

Purchased car new with dunlop sp sport 5000m tire size 225/55/17 95h. At 40mph and higher, start hearing a wobble/deep growling noise. Took to dealer and was told the tires are cupped / not worn evenly. The tires have been rotated with each oil change and the car has not been in a accident. Was told I needed new tires, of course there are not under any warranty.

In the morning around 9am going to work on 405 north. All the sudden I started to lose power, engine was still running but didn't accelerate at all, I came to stop end up blocking on of right lane and noticed engine sound was unusual and started shacking a lot. I called Hyundai roadside assistance and my car was picked up and dropped to a kirkland Hyundai dealer but they didn't find anything unusual. Service shop personal claim that car started right up and didn't find anything from diagnostics test. This incident makes me very nervous to drive this car.

Bought my 2013 Genesis 3. 8 with technology & premium options on March 1, 2013. I have had two problems from around the 2nd month after my purchase. They are: 1) the driver seat and the back not getting much airflow even at the switch setting at max position; 2) the seat leather cover is not snug tight - kind of loose and wavy in the middle area. Have been to the dealer seven times starting August 2013. The dealer has replaced the fan and filter, found blower motor weakened, seized. Removed and replaced blower, swapped seat with another car in stock/loaner, found driver seat bottom deformed; removed and replaced driver seat bottom, and have, without Hyundai's approval, inserted a "hose" tube under the seat to improve airflow. I have also had two different field service reps spend a day, month apart, with the car - testing and measuring voltage and current to the motor. The first field service rep agreed that there is a problem and requested "documentation" from Hyundai-korea, but never received any. That rep was transferred out, and the new field rep did not find any problem. After this, the dealership service director tried to help me by installing a small "hose" tube just over the air-intake opening, but that still did not improve anything. Right now, at max setting of the switch, I still feel no air coming from any of the vented holes - on the seat and on the back! I have filed the defect notification form with the Hyundai at their consumer connect center address in California, and sent a copy to the florida attorney general's office for the lemon law administration. I did do a google search some time back and found lots of people in this forum have complaints about this driver seat cooling problem and some had very creative solutions. It has been very frustrating for almost 10 months, 7 trips and Hyundai not doing a better job in its warranty coverage.
