general problems of the 2014 Hyundai Genesis

Went to drive 18 minutes away from where I originally parked to get something to eat. When I came back to my original parking spot, I went into work. Thirty minutes later, my car was on fire and completely gone.

It's termed as a "dead pedal" with the accelerator pedal sensor as to when the accelerator pedal is applied to move the car, the signal to apply gas to the engine to move it , doe's not happen, and the car will not move, momentarily causing a very unsafe situation in traffic. This problem is sporadic and you never know when it will happen. To my knowledge this is happening in the 2009 to 2015 models Hyundai Genesis cars with the 3. 8 and 4. 6 and 5. 0 engines. Any car with the drive by wire is effected with this problem, and should be looked into and repaired. I have not gone to the dealer with this problem and there is no check engine light on when it happens.

My VIN# does not appear in the recall listing of Hyundai vehicles that are at risk for fires, but 2014 models should be. The original engine was replaced on 12/9/2020, as something melted inside, causing it to seize up. It was replaced with a used engine, with only 51,000 miles. My engine compartment caught on fire, on 10/3/2021, while my son was driving the vehicle on the highway. This model also needs to be placed on the recall list for fire risk!.

Car engine shuts off/stops running, without warning, while driving. Has happened 3 times in the past 12 months. At slower speed, in town, coming to a stop or slowing for a turn. Car starts back up right away, and won't stop again for a long time. Also can't make it stop on purpose.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while driving about 45 mph, the engine shut down without warning. The vehicle was pulled to the side and restarted. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the peacock Hyundai hilton head dealer (843-208-1234, hardeeville, south carolina 29927) where it was diagnosed that the charcoal filter was overloaded and shut down the engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and recommended that the charcoal filter be replaced. The filter was replaced, but the contact did not feel that the vehicle was safe to drive.
