1 Seat Belt problem of the 2016 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 03/01/2026

My 2016 Hyundai Genesis started flashing a code stating “check psb” only a week after buying the car. Psb means pre-active seat belt. The seat belts somehow interlink with the fuel pump. My car has a faulty fuel pump module, causing the psb warning to flash, even when the vehicle is in motion. It also causes a loud humming coming from the rear of my car, as I accelerate. I’ve done research, and it says many owners of the same vehicle report the faulty fuel pump module as the culprit, causing the check psb. As well as many owners online stating their vehicle has done the same as mine. There is active recalls on the newer years for this issue, such as the 2023. When the same issue is reported multiple times on the 2016s too, there should be a recall. This is a common issue, & quite frankly a dangerous one. If the fuel pump module is miscommunicating with the seat belts, that could cause them to not react in a collision. I have my vehicle scheduled to be serviced in a few days.

2 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 07/28/2023

Brought my Hyundai to red mccombs superior Hyundai to 9am appt on Friday, July 28th to have my drivers side seatbelts untangled which I thought was a safety issue. They refused to even get the vehicle into the shop for they were “too busy”. I surmise it wasn’t worth their time to remedy…too many overpriced oil changes to perform. Ridiculous and service is severely lacking at red mccombs Hyundai.

7 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

While traveling at 65mph the car was cut off and the abs did not work, the rear fishtailed and lost control, slamming into a guardrail at 65mph, the right passenger side front and back were severely impacted, and no air bags were deployed at time of crash. Seat belts did not hold and passengers were hurt. Air bag, failure and seatbelt failure are the major problems with this vehicle.

8 Seat Belt problem of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 11/10/2013

My vehicle was hit in the rear while exiting a highway on the exit ramp approaching a state hwy. ,traveling at approximately 25-30 mph at the time. The impact deployed the headrests but the seat belts did not restrain the driver or the person in the passenger seat causing head trauma to the driver. As a result of hitting the steering wheel. The driver was taken , by ambulance,to the hospital for medical treatment. That day I contacted my dealer and requested that the vehicle be inspected ( seat belts and head rest) at a local dealer the next day and the head rests be re-set. Hyundai refused to allow the dealer to touch the vehicle and hired a 3rd party engineering firm to inspect the vehicle. The inspection was perform at my local dealer and I was present during the inspection ( measurements only were taken). Hyundai contacted me and said that seat belts and head rests were found to be operating according to design. They also directed me to safecar. Gov website for my requested crash test date which they did not supply. I checked the website and only found rollover, frontal and side crash data. I would like to have the NHTSA review test data for rear end collisions with both vehicles moving at speeds between 25-30 mphfor 1st vehicle and 40 mph for the 2nd vehicle. I believe that the headrests will deploy but the seat belts will not restrain the driver and the passenger. This is a safety issue that cannot be known to the Genesis owners until it is too late. I do not have the resources to have the engineering done to prove my position but NHTSA has the data or can conduct the appropriate tests to save another unknowing owner from possible severe injury. Hyundai 's response was that the vehicle met all the federal motor vehicle safety standards.

9 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 12/13/2011

Rear left and center inboard female seat belt buckles are reversed. This prevents use of the center belt when the left outboard seat belt is buckled as the belt covers the inboard center buckle. Need dealer recall to fix problem and have Hyundai recognize their problem.

10 Seat Belt problem of the 2012 Hyundai Genesis

Failure Date: 10/04/2011

The rear center seat belt anchor and the left seat belt anchor are reversed. When one passenger fastens their seat belt it covers the anchor point for the other passenger. The only way to connect both is to twist the seat belts across each other. In the event of an accident, the applied forces would not be in line with the seat belt anchor points and would most likely not conform to the intended designs parameters. This also causes the seat belts to go across my grand childrens necks when they are in the back seat in their booster seats which would cause them serious harm in a accident. The Hyundai dealer has looked at the problem and agrees that the anchor points are backwards but they said that it cannot be reversed due to the way the car is designed.
