1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2025

About 2 weeks ago I tried to start my car and the dash board starting flickering and glitch. Roadside assistance said all I needed was a battery. I got a battery and everything seemed fine until today. My car is starting to do the same thing. When I looked up recalls my VIN doesnt match for a recall I think my car should be under. The battery charge sysytem is failing I believe. I have videos.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

Over the last 2 1/2 months the car has shut off approximately 5 times while driving, without warning. Most instances have been while pulling into a parking lot, but one time (so far) it shut off while trying to back into my driveway. I'm fearful it will happen while on the freeway. I took it to the dealer, but there wasn't a fault code so they refused to look at it unless I left the car with them to drive, and wanted to charge me $45/day for a rental so I could get back & forth to work until it happened again while they were driving it.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2025

Hyundia has had my car in for the same recall 4 to 5 times . 6 total weeks this time around. The ""refill inverter coolant" light kept coming back on . The last time I got it home it had more issues than when I took it in and wouldn't even catch a charge . (ev) they fried my compassitor trying to fix the inverter coolant recall . I then took had to pay 450 for a diagnostic ' (kerry Hyundai alexandria) they said electric motor is bad and will cost 8000 to 9000. Got a 2nd diagnostic (jeff wyler Hyundai cincinnati) completely different result- zero mention of motor ' said ac compasitor failed. (had no issues prior to them working on the original recall ) the light for the recall is still on by the way and they want me to pay 3500 for new ac capacitor . (600 diagnostic included in that price ) " the dealership’s failure to properly perform the inverter coolant refill recall directly caused the ac compressor failure in my 2021 Hyundai Kona ev. Before taking the vehicle in for the recall, the ac system was fully functional, delivering cold air without any issues, and the car experienced no charging problems, indicating the battery and cooling systems were operating normally. The recall, intended to flush the inverter cooling system and replace the crystallizing bsc-1 coolant with bsc-2, was not completed correctly, as evidenced by the dealership’s admission that they couldn’t fix it. This botched service likely left air or debris in the cooling system, which, in Kona evs with a heat pump, could overwork the ac compressor used for battery cooling during charging. The compressor’s failure shortly after the recall service, despite no prior issues, strongly suggests that the improper coolant flush caused undue stress on the compressor, leading to its $3,000 failure, which should be covered under warranty or as a goodwill repair due to the dealership’s error". 4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2025

The hvac drainage system in my 2021 Hyundai Kona failed due to a clogged ac drain line, which led to water leaking into the cabin and mold growth. The dealer reported the drain was blocked by a spiderweb and that moisture had collected under the driver and passenger carpets. They unclogged the line, but did not inspect beneath the carpet or inside the hvac system. Soon after, I experienced musty odors, asthma flare-ups, and headaches while driving. At-home mold tests under the passenger seat and footwell came back positive. White mold was also visibly growing under the carpet. A similar issue occurred in my fiancé’s Hyundai elantra, also purchased from the same dealer. His ac drain was clogged and mold tested positive in the cabin, though his car had no smell. Our vehicles are stored in different environments, which rules out external environmental causes and points to a broader design flaw. There are Hyundai forums online confirming this same issue is not isolated to us. Even if spiderwebs were involved, a single web should not disable a critical drainage function and cause health risks. Hvac systems should be designed to resist common environmental factors like debris or insects. I am a cancer survivor (diagnosed in 2024) and must avoid environmental toxins like mold. Despite repeated outreach to Hyundai and the dealer, I was told no inspection or remediation would be provided beyond detailing, which is not sufficient for mold. Component that failed: ac evaporator drain tube confirmed by dealer: yes manufacturer inspection: no – Hyundai declined to investigate safety concern: yes – mold has triggered respiratory symptoms and makes the vehicle unsafe for passengers.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2025

The car was unable to charge using level 3 DC fast chargers, necessitating the use of a level 2 charger for an extended length of time in order to be able to return home. A Hyundai dealer replaced the charging inlet lock actuator (invoice attached).

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2023

The contact stated that she was an insurance company claim adjuster who was calling on behalf of an insured consumer, who owned a 2021 Hyundai Kona. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied, the vehicle caught on fire. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated prior to the incident. The fire department extinguished the fire and filed a report. The contact stated that the insurance company sent an inspector, who determined that the fire originated in the engine compartment. The contact stated that the entire vehicle burned and only the frame remained. There was no injury sustained. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard, where it was totaled. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 21v301000 (engine); however, the VIN was not included. The contact did not know whether the dealer and the manufacturer were contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2023

My car has approximately 14,000 miles on it and was purchased brand new. It still has 1,000 miles to go before the next servicing. Saturday I when driving approximately 40 miles an hour, the engine suddenly cut off and the car stopped in the middle of the road. I was able to start the car and drive for approximately 15 minutes before it slowed to 3mph and shut off again. I called the dealership where I purchased it and explained what happened. Initially they said they had not serviced the car in a year. I let the car sit for a day then checked all the fluids. The coolant level was fine and so was the oil. Monday, it cut off twice on my way to work. I drove to the nearest dealership and left it there. I had to rent a car as no loaners are available. It has been at the dealership for 5 days. They thought they fixed but when they test drove it, the car cut out again. Later that day, I received an email from Hyundai blue link with an automatic dtc notification that a possible condition has been detected with my engine control system.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2023

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Kona. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly lost motive power and stalled. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as designed. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on four occasions while driving. The vehicle was serviced at the local dealer, but the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,400.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2022

The bcw tends to go on every time the vehicle is driven on a rural two way road to town, approx. Less than 20 miles. Been to dealership for the problem with the bcw ,paid for diagnostic and scanned for codes ,none apparent. The dealership did minimal calibration without realalinig the sensor. The vehicle will automatically downshift causing the vehicle lurch which is totally unsafe. This began at 6000 miles. No obstructions to sensors as per dealer inspection. A brand new SUV awd never been offroad ,or any collision whatsoever. Reading forums leads me to believe it occures quite often to this particular vehicle. I called the local global representative and have a case number of 21601680, I thank you for your prompt response to this issue.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2022

Driving 60mph on I-5 in may 2021. Dry roads, no wind. Vehicle suddenly surged (as if we ran over a speed bump at 60mph) despite there being no debris nor damage on the road surface. The surge felt like the abs system triggered a single pulse, and then car completely turned off: no engine power, no radio power, no cabin lightning power, no dash lighting nor warning lights. Toggling the ignition to accessory didn't help. I had steering authority and brake authority. With no engine power, I pulled over to the side of the road. I inspected the exterior of the vehicle and there was no damage. I entered the vehicle and I was able to restart the vehicle normally. I drove it to a dealership and described the problem, they didn't know what it could be and were 30 days out on booking appointments, so I gave up.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2022

I’ve had this car since end of September 2021. The blind spot monitor on the right side of the vehicle lights up and beeps at random times, even when there is nothing in the blind spot itself. Happens mostly while driving on the highway.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2022

When slowing down to a stop and im not completely stopped and then step on the gas the vehicle makes a winding noise and has no transmission engagement for several seconds so if im in s turning lane or even going forward when a street light turn green, there's been dozens of times where this happened and I need to let off the gas pedal slowing me down while e everyone else is gaining speed making them to jam on their breaks. I let the dealership know and their answer was just come to a complete stop, I was like during a green light? the other thing everyday I drive it the blind spot warning lights keep turning on even when theres no one around me and now I had the low tire pressure light turning on then off when the tires are completely inflated.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

While driving on cruise control set for 45mph the vehicle accelerated to 53 mph. Noticed this multiple times. Also steering wheel making noise and at times hard to turn. All fluids at good level. Then burning smell coming and vehicle revs up when at stop light. And then hard to start. Have had multiple issues with this vehicle. Dealer states all is good. Hyundai is no help. This is a 2021, a new vehicle that should not be acting like this.
