36 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2024

Noise and rough going over bumps in the rear.

37 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

The shocks have failed and are noticably loud and will drop out hard whenever there is any bump which while turning could cause serious safety issues. This has been a common issue from what I have seen.

38 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2024

2020 Palisade with automatic leveling shocks has failed with 37000 miles. As per Hyundai forum it appears that this is a regular occurrence and should be recalled due to premature seals leaking!.

39 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

The rear suspension makes a clunking noise. This is a known issue for the Palisade and because I’m at 80,000 miles on the vehicle they want me to pay $6,000 for the replacement! this is insane.

40 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/29/2024

Self-leveling shocks leaking on both sides.

41 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

Self leveling shocks in the rear of the vehicle are failing (leaking, locking up) very early in their life span. Significant adverse effects to ride and handling.

42 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2023

Rear shock absorbers are not functioning properly after 70,000 miles. I have had no success after no less than 10 attempts to purchase replacements from dealers and online Hyundai parts suppliers. Hyundai is aware of the defective shock absorber issue but has not corrected the replacement issue.

43 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

Rear shock absorbers leaking and need replacement can fail at any time and cause vehicle to swerve while driving yes, inspected by dealer and was told "its a known issue" loud clunking noise coming from rear is how we noticed.

44 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

The rear self leveling shocks pop and rattle and ultimately fail. What used to be a comfortable ride is now a stiff bouncy response in the rear whenever traversing any but a smooth road. The bounce is so bad it affects the driver and at times the ability to maintain a straight course.

45 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2023

Vehicle front and rear suspension has unsafe shock/strut equipment, which causes lack of control while driving, audible noise within the passenger compartment, and rough handling.

46 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2023

2020 Hyundai Palisade limited rear and front shock towers and/or stabilizer links rattle and are not stable at low speeds, and probably at high speeds also but for traffic noise. Causing instability when navigating in traffic and under road conditions.

47 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2023

The self-leveling rear suspension on this vehicle has failed twice at approximately every 20,000 miles. I do not tow anything or haul heavy loads. It is a family transport vehicle that is primarily operated on smooth, flat paved roads in a suburban environment. The service writer at don moore Hyundai in owensboro, ky advised that this is a very common issue due to poor design. The components require complete replacement. My personal research via vehicle interest/information forums seems to support this claim as many others have been experiencing the same issue. There is no warning that failure is imminent. The suspension makes a knocking sound, primarily at low speed. Ride and handling are negatively impacted, and the tires are subject to damage and premature wear. The vehicle is available for inspection and it is serviced at the aforementioned dealership.

48 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

1) back end of the vehicle sways, bounces at any speed when going over slightest bump. Driving with failing shocks or struts has a direct impact on your ability to control vehicle. Research indicates known issue with 2020-2021 Hyundai Palisades - tsb22-ss-001h issued for part of the problem but no recall. Hyundai clearly knows about it but not issuing needed recall because it is a warranty item, hoping customers don't realize it until out of warranty. Mine still in warranty, 48k miles. Rear- self leveling shocks appear to be the issue along with upper insulator piece. . Read more...

49 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

The car started very slightly making a clunking noise and it progressively got worse. We've taken it for every scheduled maintenance and didn't know anything was wrong. We asked for it to be specifically checked at our recent oil change and were told it is a unfortunate common issue that Hyundai is aware of but the warranty ended on that about 6 months ago - something that should've been addressed and resolved, they waited until out of warranty and didn't do anything and now the fix is $1700 (rear struts need to be replaced) car jumps and it will get even worse. Also the wipers turn on when there is no rain but don't turn on when it rains the sensors are messed up.

50 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2022

With about 47,000 miles of use the suspension became rough, mostly in the rear when driving. It is like you are driving with little to no shocks. The smallest bumps in the road you feel it and bounce in the seat. It used to be a very smooth driving car and very enjoyable to drive. This suspension problem is making it less than enjoyable and more difficult to drive. I spend more time looking at the road and avoiding things that could a rough drive. I have had vehicles in the past that had auto leveling systems and air shocks which has caused similar driving, so it may be a design problem. With this low mileage it should not be a ware issue.

51 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2022

Having noise from the rear suspension while hitting a bump or turning. Dealer says its in the shock or the mounting assembly. I am concerned if its in the mounting of the shock, and the shocks are loose it could be a safety issue. Its been months now and it is getting worse. The dealer is not communicating with me on fixing the problem. It was fixed once on. 11/9/2022 invoice [xxx] and on 8/22/2024 invoice [xxx] it started again larry miller Hyundai peoria az. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

52 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

I have only had this car for 1. 5 years and about 6months ago I keep hearing a thump from rear suspension then the alignment started going off pulling to the right. Take it to tire kingdom to be aligned and they told me the shocks are leaking. Go to dealer and they took one week to say one shock is bad but part will take another week to get here I tried to get them to change both as the TSB I found 22-ss-001h but they refuse and will only change one. How can I get them to follow this TSB? as at the moment the car dose not feel safe to drive and I shoul not be responsible for this issue of changing both shocks properly. Dealers should not be able to fight things like this as they avoiusly know thers issues but they won't honor it. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I may have to get lawyers involved. Thank you for you time.

53 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2022

About a year after purchase (new) a loud popping noise emanating from the rear suspension was reported to my Hyundai dealer. At first I was told it was a normal characteristic of the car. After escalating the complaint I was told it had a bad rear shock, which was replaced under warranty but the noise continued. They told me that a Hyundai tech specialist would contact me for resolution. That was 5 months ago. The noise persists.

54 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2022

The vehicle continues to feel very bumpy when we drive. Even if I stand in the 2nd row and press up and down, it makes a squeaky, sometimes loud rattling / knocking sound. I have taken this to the dealer multiple times and they tired to tighten shock absorbers and the padding around it but the problem hasn't gone. They ask me to leave the car with them without getting a loaner which is hard to do as we need the car. They have made it hard to get the problem solved, not taking ownership and have denied any issue with the suspension despite multiple complaints by consumers in online forums and what I have personally experienced.

55 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2021

At 30k miles, the car started to make loud noises when driving over speed bumps, the smallest of road variations. Dealer detected the issue until Hyundai executives were contacted. Then, the dealer changed their story and confirmed the shocks on the car need to be redesigned in reinstalled and it's becoimg a national/ International problem. They are talking about the rear shocks only and not including the front . The issue with the shocks are wide spread and being discussed on the multiple forums. Very concerned about potential and major damage to the tires/car that can cause major accidents. .

56 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

Suspension has made a thumping/creaking noise from both side of rear since new. Brought it to two dealers and they could not fix. The problem has been only getting worse over time. I worry the rear shocks are another component is going to fail and the ride quality / road holding ability has also been getting worse. I have entered details for when the problem first started (essentially when new) but it continues to this date.

57 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2020

Vibration at speeds of 64/65mph and up. Not sure if driveshaft or transmission. Hyundai has issued a TSB but will not honor it. I have asked 2x for dealer service dept. To evaluate this problem. They said they do not have to honor this TSB. I have seen on forums others are having same problem with cars made in December 2019. It is painful to drive on the highway and I do not know if it is the driveshaft, will it break? will the transmission fail? this is a brand new car purchased new and it is unsafe to drive on the highway and I cannot get Hyundai to look at the problem and they have sent emails saying tough luck. This is anytime you are driving on interstates or highways with speed limits of 70mph. . At around 64/65 car steering wheel, seat, floor vibrates unless you go below 63mph. Happens every time. First time was driving home from dealer on highway--been reaching out to Hyundai USA since July been to dealer in July, August. . . But always told appointment will be two weeks to 6 weeks away.

58 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2020

My vehicle has what appears to be a major alignment issue. When driving on almost any straight stretch of road the vehicle pulls/veers to the right. Dealer says this is as designed from Hyundai and that they have checked "everything". I am baffled that any car can be "designed" to not drive straight. They claim all Hyundai vehicles are "designed" to pull to the right. One the test drive with the service manager, driving 50 - 60 mph, my vehicle drifted 1 and a half lanes to the right on its own. Under acceleration it veered 3 lanes to the right. This was in a matter of 6 or 7 seconds. This happens on almost all roads and interstates, not just some. The dealer says there is nothing to repair and this is "normal" and to take it up with the manufacturer. I can provide video of the issue.

59 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2019

Since purchasing my Palisade, ive felt constant vibrating coming from the gas pedal while driving. It seems to have gotten progressively worse and now feeling vibrating in the steering wheel and brake pedal. There is no vibrating while stationary.
