1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2026

The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, auto merchants inc. In plano texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

While vacationing in myrtle beach with my family the vehicle alarmed and then progressed to critical failure of safety functions while traveling at approximately 55mph on Friday April 3, 2026. The vehicle was brought to myrtle beach Hyundai where it was eventually diagnosed and repaired as an alternator issue that I have found to be common with this specific vehicle. The issues I have experienced with this vehicle go far beyond a typical mechanical concern. Over time, the vehicle has exhibited repeated electrical system malfunctions, including: - false blind spot collision warnings when no vehicles are present - intermittent failure of the crash avoidance system - loss of cruise control functionality tied to system faults - a broader electrical failure event that triggered multiple warning systems simultaneously most concerning, these failures have occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating an unpredictable and potentially hazardous driving condition. The loss and unreliability of critical driver-assist and safety systems directly impacts driver awareness and vehicle control, which raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple attempts to have this diagnosed through the dealership network while under warranty, no definitive root cause was identified, and the issue has persisted. This suggests the possibility of a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated component failure. Additionally, I have found that similar complaints involving electrical system irregularities and cascading warning system failures have been reported by other owners of this model, further supporting the concern that this may represent a known or emerging defect pattern. Given these factors, I do not believe this situation should be categorized as routine. Instead, it warrants review under the lens - vehicle safety risk - potential defect trend - failure of critical driver-assistance systems during operation this vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

When I push on the brake the car starts to tug. Feels like it wants to turn off. Happened several times after I got a recall checked. 2 weeks ago same thing was happening and my car all of a sudden turns off. The lights on the dashboard turned on and the emergency brake engaged. I was able to turn the car back in after 3 tries. 6 days later I was driving 50mph and my car suddenly changes shifts on its own. It changed to neutral and then my car shuts off and again the dashboard lights turn on and the emergency brake engages. Again turned on after 3 times. Now the dealership is telling me that its my injectors. And that I had 10% fluid in my gas tank. That will not cause my car to shift gears and 10% is an excessive amount that would mess my car up.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

A week or so after taking the car in for an oil change, I was on the highway and heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no indicator or warning lights from the dashboard. The car then stopped accelerating. It was on, and the accelerator increased the rpms but the car did not move faster. I safely got home and checked the oil and it had less than a quart. There were no low-oil indicator lights telling me the oil was low. Separately, this week, while driving in the city, the engine again started making rattling sounds and completely shut off forcing me to pull off the road. Again, prior to the shut off there were no indicator lights. I was able to pull to the side of the road safely. I tried to restart the car and it would idle roughly befor the engine shut off again. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked the oil to see if the previous cause was the culprit, but this time the oil was still full. After 45 minutes, I was able to restart the car and drive home. I researched the issue and there are many complaints on reddit about this for this make and model. Since the issue is intermittent and can't be replicated at the dealership, there is no fix offered. I no longer trust or feel safe driving this car, especially on highways.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

While the vehicle was off and in my garage, the vehicle started on its own and was idling at an extremely high rpm. I was the only person home, the keys were out of reach on a key rack and had not been driven yet for the day. I walked into the garage and found my vehicles engine running at a high rpm and all the electrical displays within the vehicle were compleltely off with only the engine running. I retrieved my keys and my only thought was to start the car, which I did which then brought the rpm down to standard idle. I am extremely concerned as a vehicle idling in an eclosed garage poses extremely high risk to carbon monoxide.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the child in the second-row seat became trapped after the seat belt seized. The seat belt was cut to free the child. Additionally, the contact reported that the infotainment system was inoperable, failed to power on, and malfunctioned while driving, preventing the use of hands-free feature. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,000.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2026

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving 40 mph, the vehicle lost power steering assist functionality. Several warning lights were illuminated, and the headlights and turn signals became inoperable. The contact stopped the vehicle and shifted into reverse (r); however, the rear-view camera failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to the residence, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,400.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

The sunroof failed to totally open or close after an initial engagement. Further inspection revealed the sunroof wind deflector frame slides and shoes were broken, and cables were loose and out of position. Keep in mind, the sunroof has been used only a handful of times. After doing some research and learning Palisades had a history of exploding sunroofs, I worried that continuing to drive the car in a compromised condition (even a covered film to keep wind and rain out) would trigger the sunroof to do the same, putting my grandchildren in danger. After taking it to the dealer and having them confirm a TSB issued by Hyundai to address this very issue, I also learned it would not be a covered expense. Repair would run $3,000, a hefty consumer expense for a recognized flaw and safety hazard by the manufacturer.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2026

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the steering wheel seized. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently while driving 45-55 mph. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon coming to a complete stop, the steering wheel seized. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact resumed driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 20 mph and was jumping while experiencing electrical failures. The vehicle was driven to the residence and parked; however, the vehicle failed to lock or to detect the key fob. The contact stated that the vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by a dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2025

My sunroof was working perfectly fine a month ago. I opened it while I was driving to get some air 10/28/2025 and heard a cracking noise. I immediately stopped it. The glass was off the track and it would not close. It only opens a little then stops. Took it to Hyundai dealership and they said in their report"the tracks are cracked, glass came off the track and tracks are warped. " this is going to cost me 3k and this was clearly a malfunction of the vehicle!!.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2025

When turning on the child safety locks, the doors repeat a clicking sound for a few minutes sounding as if the doors are locking. After the noise stops, the dashboard shows the message "child safety lock failure". My small child has been winding the window down since I cannot lock the windows and doors properly. I am afraid she will get a body part caught in the window or open the door while driving.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2025

In January 2025, during snowy weather, the windshield wipers on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade failed mid-operation and began making a buzzing noise. After 3–4 uses, they locked up and stopped functioning, causing a serious visibility issue. This occurred while driving, putting my safety at risk. This symptom directly matches NHTSA recall 23v-180 / Hyundai campaign 243, which I was told had already been addressed by the dealership I purchased from (fitzgerald Hyundai in gaithersburg, MD). I bought the vehicle used in April 2023, around the time this recall was active. I brought the vehicle back to that dealership in may 2025. They confirmed the wiper motors appeared to be binding and recommended replacement. However, they claimed the issue was not related to the recall and charged me a diagnostic fee of $209. Their service summary matches the defect described in the recall. I believe the recall fix was either never performed properly or did not actually resolve the underlying issue. This appears to be a recurring safety defect that puts drivers at continued risk.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2024

Child safety lock failure notice - both parked or driving, I will hear a clicking noise coming from the doors. Sometimes I will receive a child safety lock failure error message on the dash. This would sporadically continue to happen while driving and even if my vehicle is parked and off and I happen to do something like open the doors. The vehicle has been serviced numerous times by Hyundai dealership and the door actuators have been replaced but the problem persists.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2024

The hydraulic lifts for the tailgate are failing. They crack open and the pressurized spring can be ejected while driving. Per multiple Palisade forms this seems to be come and most state that their dealer said it was a known problem. Some people have reported multiple failures with the lifts even when the part is replaced. The lift can also collapse when hydraulics break. [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2024

The child lock function malfunctions after engaged. Persistent clicking and doors are able to be opened while in the lock engage position. I travel with children so their safety is at risk with this malfunction. No lamp messages or warning signs are displayed. I’m taking back to the carmax dealer today as I just purchased this car less than 24 hours ago.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

The sunroof on the vehicle has completely broken with minimal use the vehicle is a 2021 and only one owner. This is an ongoing issue with the vehicle type and Hyundai is not covering the cost of repair. It is causing a significant hardship for vehicle use and the cost or repair is in the thousands. I am not the only vehicle owner that is having this issue and Hyundai needs to take accountability for this.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2024

If you have the child locks engaged on the driver side door controls, the back locks will continuously click as if they are trying to lock/unlock. This can happen when opening the locks with the fob, or randomly while driving. There are multiple reports of this issue on online forums such as reddit, Palisadeforum. Com, etc. This should be considered as a known safety issue with the potential to impact the health and wellbeing of children riding in the back of Hyundai models, yet no recall is in place to address it. Multiple owners have reported dealing with Hyundai dealerships on this issue at this time, not sure why Hyundai is dragging their feet in addressing this obvious safety concern???.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2024

The child safety door lock system is malfunctioning. While driving or approaching the vehicle with the keyfob, all door locks will cycle repeatedly and randomly. After a minute or so of cycling, the dash will illuminate that the child safety door lock system has failed. The light on the child lock button on the door will remain illuminated; however, the rear doors can be opened, including while driving. This is a significant safety issue for those with children in the back seat. Dealer hasn't been helpful. Issue can be repeated by cycling the child lock button on the door.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2024

Car door locks will begin clicking randomly on all doors when either approaching the car with the key fob or when driving. Clicking will continue for a good minute before a child safety lock failure message appears on the dash. Message only stays up for two seconds before going away. Searching forums, this seems to be a common issue and should be a recall. Dealership hasn’t been able to help but forums say the issue can be recreated by quickly cycling the child door safety lock switch.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

2021 Hyundai Palisade 30, 000 miles while driving started having a random clicking noise coming from the doors and a relay clicking noise coming from under the glove box followed by a child safety lock failure error message on the instrument cluster. This would sporadically continue to happen while driving as well as upon approaching vehicle. I have two small toddlers that I am truly concerned about. So far Hyundai has replaced 2 door latches and the child safety lock switch to no avail because the issue is still ongoing.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2024

The passenger side rear view mirror stop auto tilting when in reverse, even with the switch in left or right position. I also cannot manually adjust said mirror up or down, only left and right. At one point said mirror tilted downwards when reverse selected and never came back up. At first the issue seem intermittent, but now it doesn’t work at all.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2023

When locking the doors upon exiting my Palisade, the alarm starts going off. This occurs when I use the door lock (internal and external), as well as the lock button on the key fob. When this occurs, two alerts come to my phone through bluelink simultaneously. One is showing a rear occupancy alert and the other shows a panic alert. My vehicle has been to the dealership 3 times in the past month, and the most recent time, it was there for 6 days. They have replaced sensors, issued updates, changed the key fob batteries, reprogrammed the fobs, checked all connections under the seats, etc. I have made sure all items are removed from the seats and even removed an air freshener that was hanging from my mirror, as I was told this could be causing the issue. The car is always vacant when this occurs, and service department members of the Hyundai dealership have also witnessed the occurrence as the alarm and notifications occurred when I dropped it off for service. I am fearful that the electrical issues may progress if the root cause is not identified.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2023

After driving, the rear driver and passenger side doors will lock and unlock, eventually causing the child safety lock failure message to be shown. Child safety lock was on in the car. I brought car to dealership and no problem was found on inspection.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2023

After driving for 15 minutes, the rear driver and passenger side doors will lock and unlock, eventually causing the child safety lock failure message to be shown. Child safety lock was on in the car.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2023

Child safety locks for doors is not working properly. Clicking sound constantly when the button is pressed. A “child safety lock failure” message comes up.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2023

I've had several instances where the car didn't turn over and all technology screens began glitching, clicking and stating the key wasn't in the car.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2023

On August 4th 2023 we drove from home in cedar rapids to our daughter’s in cottage grove wisconsin for a family event. Nearing madison, somewhere in the area of verona the battery warning symbol came on in the instrument display. It was intermittent and we continued our journey to our daughter’s house in cottage grove. We called aaa and a “tow” truck came. The driver made a visual assessment of the condition of the battery and terminals and serpentine belt and looked at our multimeter readings of battery voltage. The alternator did cut in and the battery voltage went up. He advised that we continue driving it. It made a couple of two-mile trips to and from our hotel in cottage grove, with no display of the battery warning icon on the instrument display. On Sunday August 6 2023 we set off for home. The battery icon was not displayed. About 15 miles from departure while we were on the madison beltline highway the following occurred without warning: •the central navigation display went blank •a number of different warnings came up on the instrument display •power steering was lost •the emergency warning flashers and the direction indicators wouldn’t work •a lot of warning icons were displayed on the instrument display this was absolutely unacceptable and life shorteningly frightening. I won’t use curse words or s**t here but use your imagination. We were able to get to the hard shoulder without crashing. Surprisingly the engine was still running and we were very close to an exit (fish hatchery road) so we were able to limp and wrestle it to a business’ parking area.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2023

Hyndai recalled our vehicle for a tow hitch wiring problem last year. Instead of resolving the issue, they simply pulled the fuse and told us that we cannot tow with lights until they resolve the recall. My understanding is that this recall has been on the books for over a year now. This is extremely frustrating as I am not able to use the tow capability that I paid for when purchasing this vehicle and according to the dealer, no fix has been provided. How do I complain? how do I get something done here? thank you.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2023

Child locks constantly click, car can be on or off. Dash displays child lock failure.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2023

I was driving in the highway in fairly heavy rain. My lane departure system went offline first. Next my forward collision went offline. Shortly after that my check engine light came on and the vehicle started shaking. I stopped under a bridge and waited for the rain to slow. I turned the car off and on, but the issues remained. I was forced to drive 10 miles, at 30 mph, on the highway, with hazards on, to a hotel. This caused an unnecessary unsafe situation. The next day, I took to the dealer. The car ran fine. They reset the codes and said it was likely water getting into the cylinders causing 4 and 6 to fail. I really dont feel a car should do this from driving in the rain. This also caused me an unnecessary hotel stay.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2023

Second row window seat seat belt doesn't latch properly, will latch and come unlatched. Backup parking sensor goes off, back up camera stopped working.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2023

The child safety locks keep failing. When engaged, the child safety locks continue to click as if they are locking the doors again and again. Then sometimes, but not every time, the child safety lock failure error message is displayed. This is extremely dangerous because if the child locks do not work my children can open the doors while I am driving, putting everyone at risk. This is also in credibly annoying and distracting while driving. Making it unsafe to drive while the locks are engaged. The car has been to the dealer for inspection and they can not seem to replicate it, though we are still working with them to try and figure this out. The issue started around 11,000 miles.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2022

I started my car using my key fob so the car wouldn’t be as hot when my baby and I got in. I walked to the back passenger side, unlocked the car and put my baby into the car. I then walked around to the driver’s side door and somehow the car was locked even though I had just unlocked it. I had my keys in my hand so I pressed the unlock button. My car would not unlock. I tried all of the doors and tried to lock and unlock my vehicle multiple times. I was about to break a window since my 7 month old was locked inside when I realized maybe the trunk would open. It did and I had to climb through my trunk to get into my vehicle to unlock it. This is exceptionally dangerous as I live in a very hot climate and a child can die in a hot car in minutes. Even though the car was running if you do not get into your car in 10 minutes the car automatically turns off. If someone does not remain calm in that situation they may not think to try the trunk. I have not yet notified the dealer or had the vehicle inspected. I was able to recreate the incident without my child inside. If anyone would like to inspect my vehicle that is fine. This is a deadly accident waiting to happen.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2022

Hyundai issued a safety recall notice on the tow harness. The harness may catch fire during use or when the car is off and parked. Don’t park the car in a garage until the fuse is pulled. We found out in August 2022 during visit to dealership. The interim fix is to remove the fuse for the tow harness. We are still waiting on a fix. We bought the car to tow a utility trailer and we can’t. We received written notice later that year. Calls to Hyundai customer care have no answer, the dealer has no answer and we have a car we cannot use. What recourse do we have?.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2022

The is no incident yet I am writing to file a complaint as to the extend time that we owners of said vehicle got recall notices and follow up notices, but yet no fix appears to be had in the immediate future. So I have to remove and replace a trailer harness fuse everytime I need to use my hitch to avoid a fire and potentially losing my house since my garage is attached. When paying $50k on a car you should not have to part outside away from you house for this long extended period because the manufacturer can't figure out what the fix is. Also the wiper motor recall-would think this would be an easier fix-yet nothing resolved on that either after several months of notices and waiting. Someone needs to press Hyundai to get on it!!!!!.
