Five days after I bought my vehicle, I was driving down the freeway that was very empty. A small rock hit my windshield, I think… I never saw anything. It caused an explosion on the right side of my windshield and glass shattered inside the vehicle. I made a claim with my insurance and pay the $500 deductible and got the windshield replaced. Two days after I replaced the windshield, a small something hit my windshield and made a tiny rock chip. A few days later, I went to get the rock chip repaired, and as soon as the technician put the device and started to fill the rock chip, the wind shield cracked halfway across. I have been driving for almost 40 years and I have replaced one windshield and repaired maybe three rock chips. To have had a car for five weeks (two of which I couldn't drive because the windshield "exploded" crack was too deep), and already have paid two $500 deductibles and made two windshield claims is absolutely unbelievable. There has to be a flaw in the glass. The auto glass professionals said that they have replaced three windshields on Palisades in the past week.
My [xxx] old was sitting in the middle right captain chair in her carseat. My [xxx] daughter was in the third row. My [xxx] daughter accidentally hit the power seat tilt button making the seat my [xxx] old was sitting in push up against the back of the front right passenger seat, crushing my [xxx] olds feet, where she suffered a broken foot where the toes meet the rest of the foot. We had to bring my [xxx] to the emergency room and podiatrist where xrays confirmed the injury. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I am reporting that Hyundai’s recall 296 remedy appears inadequate and that Hyundai closed the recall on my vehicle even though the underlying rear-seat safety hazard remained unresolved. My complaint involves the second- and third-row powered seat system, including the fold/stow and walk-in functions. My core safety complaint is that the second-row seat continued to move under powered operation despite resistance from a properly installed child seat using latch. I also reported that the third-row seat could still collapse under powered operation despite the presence of an object. This is a crush/entrapment hazard, especially for children. I presented the vehicle for this same rear-seat safety concern multiple times. Even after Hyundai and the dealer treated the recalls as completed, the condition remained unresolved and I returned the vehicle again for the same issue. Hyundai and the dealer changed and used inconsistent completion dates while continuing software/update activity and then still failed to acknowledge my real-world safety concerns after the supposed repair. I also reported additional post-update problems including fluctuating cabin air temperature, blower speed fluctuation without input, and reduced ventilated-seat cooling. Hyundai ultimately took the position that those systems were operating normally and instructed the dealer to release the vehicle. My complaint is not merely that Hyundai issued a recall. My complaint is that Hyundai treated recall 296 as completed, changed the vehicle’s seat functionality by disabling or limiting previously available automatic features, used inconsistent completion timing, and still failed to correct or acknowledge the underlying safety defect I continued reporting. I am asking NHTSA to review whether recall 296 is actually correcting the defect in service, or whether affected vehicles remain unsafe after Hyundai marks the recall complete.
Component that malfunctioned - "keep you eye on the road" on a 300 mile trip the alarm went off numerous times even though my eyes were on the road and at times it would disengage the cruise control. At highway speed when a car is following closely the disengage of the cruise control and a rapid reduction in speed could cause an accident. The dealer indicated that this system is controlled by software and a correction would likely come from the manufacturer.
Small rock chip in windshield and the next day it was already a long crack formed that is taking up the entire driver view. How this cracked after sitting in my garage overnight is beyond me. I have now been told by the dealership (northwest Hyundai in houston) that my dealer windshield coverage only covers up to $1,000 and the replacement is almost $1. 900. He said there is no aftermarket options to get it for less. When I bought the car, they said the overage would cover the cost to replace the entire windshield if needed. (I know never buy the dealer add on, but it was a crunch situation to get the car I needed, and I got it for msrp with the dealer add ons anyways so figured hey if something happens at least I dont have to pay for a new windshield. . . . Welp-- didnt expect to deal with a chip during into a long crack over night.
The front grille on my 2026 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy has developed visible deformation that appears consistent with heat damage or melting. The plastic behind and around the grille slats shows wavy, rippled distortion and texture changes. There is no evidence of impact damage, road debris, or external chemical exposure. The vehicle has approximately 2,000 miles and is only about 42 days old. The vehicle is unmodified and has been used under normal driving conditions. This damage appears to be a material or manufacturing defect, as automotive grille plastics should not deform under normal operating temperatures. I took the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai service center. The dealer acknowledged the condition but stated it would not be covered under warranty, claiming there is nothing mechanical wrong and that it is not a defect. No alternative explanation was provided for the heat-related deformation. I am concerned this may be related to excessive heat buildup behind the grille, material failure, or a design issue involving airflow, active grille shutters, or reflective trim. This condition should not occur on a new vehicle and may affect vehicle safety, cooling performance, or long-term durability. Photos of the affected grille areas are attached for reference.
While on/idol, the 3rd row seat (left/drivers side) folded down on my 9 year old niece. Myself, mother, 6 year old daughter, sister in law, brother and 12 year old niece all witnessed this happen as we were loading into the car after playing at the park (I had the car turned on). Her head got pinned to the headrest of the 2nd row captain seat. The buttons did not respond as they usually/supposed to do to stop and reverse the folding action. The seat continued to press against her skull. After realizing the buttons in the cargo were not going to work, I had an idea and ran to the 2nd row door and pressed the captain seat button to slide it forward (my child was in that captain seat in a rear facing carseat). It wasn't able to move much but enough that the trapped girl was able to force her head out and her mom pulled her the rest of the way out to release her. It was very traumatizing. That 3rd row seat remained in that almost closed position as the buttons still would not function so we drove home. Eventually I tried the buttons in the again and it unfolded the seat. I have tested these buttons over and over since then to figure out what happened. Every time I test them, each button allows me to either release it and the action stops, or press the button again and the action stops. I do not know why it wouldn't respond to doing that same that day. Prior to that incident, sometime between getting the car on 7/31 and mid-November, I had an empty unbuckled backless booster car seat in the third row right/passenger side as a backup for daughters friends to use, and without remembering it was there, I pressed the button to fold down the 3rd row right side chair and it kept stopping and auto reversing, several times before I realized OH ya, the booster is back there. So when the innocent happened with my niece, it came as a big surprise because that booster weighs nothing compared to a 9 year old. It has not happened again.
Nhtsa safety defect report vehicle: 2026 Hyundai Palisade hybrid mileage at failure: approximately 3 weeks from new location: colorado description of failure while driving under completely normal conditions on a local road with no overpasses, no debris, and no external hazards, the sunroof glass suddenly exploded upward without warning. There was: no rock impact no falling object no roadway debris no weather event the glass failure originated from within the sunroof structure and shattered outward/upward. Out-of-control shipping period because this vehicle was purchased new, it spent a period of time in manufacturer and dealership custody during shipping and storage prior to delivery. During that time: the vehicle was not in owner control any manufacturing defect, stress fracture, or transit-related glass damage could only have originated before delivery danger created sudden explosive glass failure while driving, no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure or after the failure. Risk of facial injury risk of shattered glass entering vehicle cabin risk of loss of vehicle control extreme startle response at speed this could easily have caused a serious accident or injury. Manufacturer response Hyundai dealership and Hyundai consumer affairs reviewed photographs submitted by the dealer and wrongfully denied warranty coverage, claiming outside damage without any physical proof. Important note this appears to be a tempered glass manufacturing or transit defect, consistent with internal stress fractures that cause spontaneous sunroof explosions.
New Hyundai Palisade hybrid calligraphy awd speedometer and critical information screen and heads up display while driving goes blank. This has happened to me twice. I have been directly in contact with Hyundai USA and my local dealership to resolve this critical safety issue. Hyundai engineers have been working the issue with suggestions to my dealership to identify and resolve the problem. Hyundai engineers are shotgunning the solution with no success. With this safety issue in mind, I request that you contact Hyundai to request they have a product recall on this vehicle. This problem puts just not me but all other drivers at a significant safety risk on our highways. I request feeds back on this issue.
I am a 77 year old senior and was driving my 2025 Hyundai tucson highbrid at approx. 70 mph on the highway, then suddenly there was significant shuddering through the tucson with noticeable loss of power. The tucson dropped to 30 mph. After that it would accelerate with significant shuddering. This would repeat several times while driving. In addition there were no malfunctioning indicators, or warning lights. We were never so scared in our lives. This occurred on Thursday , October 2 nd. 2025 at around 1:00 p. M. On highway 355 and 53 traveling northbound.
Batteries in the brand new 2026 Hyundai Palisade are failing by dying unexpectedly with under 500 miles on the vehicle. I have documented over 20 instances with new owners online. This is a safety concern because it can leave people stranded in cold weather. It appears to be an issue with the digital key. I contacted Hyundai and they are not concerned. They just test the battery and say they can't find anything wrong.
