2026 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy, VIN [xxx] , purchased March 6, 2026 with under 2,200 miles at time of incident. Safety incident: while operating under adaptive cruise control at highway speed, the vehicle experienced sudden unintended acceleration followed by severely delayed braking response. At least three trailing vehicles were forced into emergency evasive action to avoid a multi-vehicle collision. Family members were present. This event represents a direct and immediate threat to the safety of vehicle occupants and the public. The root cause has not been definitively identified or resolved. The authorized dealership confirmed can-bus resistance irregularities — 160 ohms versus the designed 120-ohm specification — governing acceleration, braking, and all driver assist systems. Prior symptoms included flickering interior lighting. An initial module replacement failed. Repair has escalated to full wiring harness replacement with no parts availability and no confirmed timeline. The safety event remains undiagnosed and unresolved. The vehicle carries three simultaneous active safety recalls — 293, 296, and 297 — all involving electrical and wiring systems on the calligraphy trim exclusively. None have permanent remedies. The vehicle has been in dealer custody since March 21, 2026 and is available for inspection. Hyundai motor America active case — no. Xxx. This vehicle is not safe to operate. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The headlights are fogging up on the inside of headlight with condensation. This problem will lead to two issues. The ability to see at night and I believe the plastic lens will become damaged over time. My friend who has the same type of vehicle including year has the same issue. His vehicle was in a accident. The part for the headlight was $1500. I looked inside the headlight and their are packages of dri-eaz to absorb the condensation. Since these packages will only absorb for a limited time the issue appears will only get worse and the manufacture must have know of this issue.

All the dash light are on, warning signs flash, steering get heavy, speedo not working, signal indicator not working on dash. Not safe. Dealer drove the car and checked everything, could not get the car to do it again. I picked the car up and within 13 miles the dash was lit up like a christmas tree, lots of error messages, steering very heavy07/21/24. 14,500 miles on car.

This is an update to my previous complaint 11655582. Hyundai replaced the left headlight assembly on 5-5-25. Email I sent to Hyundai this morning: "I drove the car Tuesday evening and noticed the same problem as before the left headlight replacement. Later, at nearly 10:00 pm, I took the car to a dark road with little traffic to get a better look and to take the attached pictures. The outside temperature was 35 degrees with a light drizzle. Here is what I did. 1. I covered the left headlight with the thickness of two towels so only the right headlight shined on the road. I immediately saw the triangular area where there was an absence of light. I walked toward the safety defect to get a good picture. The two dark lines on the left of the picture are the shadows cast by my legs. The leg shadows did not create or impact the safety defect in any way because the safety defect was there when I stood to the side of the car and behind the headlights. 2. I repeated the experiment with the right headlight covered so only the left headlight shined on the road. The result was the same – a dark triangular area where there should be light. 3. When both headlights shine, the two defects blend with one another and project a distracting and unsafe image to the driver. Here are the conclusions that I have drawn from this experiment. 1. There must be a defective component that is used in both the left and right headlights – perhaps a reflector or lens. Perhaps that component is also used in more models than just the Palisade. 2. Since both original headlights and the new replacement left headlight contained this safety defect, the manufacturing dates of the three items might have been weeks or months apart. This makes it unlikely that only my car received three random defects and more likely that this is a widespread problem. 3. The current stock of headlights could be defective and replacing the ones on my Palisade from that stock may not fix the problem. ".
There is a defect in the headlights. As you can see from the attached picture, the right side projects light further up the road than the left side. The left side has a large triangular black-out region which blocks my view of the next lane. I took the vehicle to phil long Hyundai in colorado springs colorado for warranty repair. They refused to drive the car at night because that was outside of their normal business hours. They adjusted the headlights “as high as they could go” according to their invoice. All that did was move the defect further up the road.
Please reference tracking numbers 11655582 and 11659441. This is an update to those reports. On may 13 I spoke with deb from Hyundai national consumer affairs. Here is what she communicated to me. 1) the headlights are designed this way. 2) she believes it is a standard design used by other companies as well. 3) this closes out my complaint with Hyundai. I have entered [xxx] as the incident date because that is the date I purchased the car. This is a serious safety concern that I believe NHTSA should investigate because they continue to make cars with this problem. There is a serious flaw in the low beam headlight display for this vehicle. There are two large shadows directly in the light of sight. I rarely drive this vehicle at night and with the recent change away from daylight savings time, I drove it in the early evening and discovered the headlights created a huge shadow right in the sightline of the road with oncoming vehicles. It is especially worse when turning on a curve and whatever is in the road ahead is almost invisible. I took it to my local Hyundai dealership on 23 Nov 24 and had them look at it. They responded there was nothing wrong with the lights. They took pictures of the vehicle against a white background and it clearly showed two small triangular dark spots in the center of the vision. They said this is normal for Palisades. I asked them to show me the same view on another Palisade and it was identical with large shadows in the background. I asked for copies of the white background photos and they declined to provide them. I now understand from on-line research, that Hyundai is aware of this problem for 2021-2024 model year Palisades. But they will not do anything. Below are photos I have taken while driving in the dark and you can clearly see how there is a shadow that could cause an accident and cost lives. I also have video but this format will not let me upload it. I have also attached some research screen shots from [xxx] and [xxx] that discuss this issue (along with their pictures). I understand there are class action lawsuits ongoing with this issue. As a result, I believe it is time the NHTSA looks at this road safety issue and take action to have Hyundai fix it. I also ask that someone respond to indicate receipt and what action will occur in this. Thank you. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving in the rain with the headlights on the moisture got inside the headlights covering the light output and making harder to see at night specially while it rains. Safety visibility concerns and moisture will decrease the life of the headlamps.
The low beam headlights are a safely issue with the 2024 Palisade. The low beams on mine are downright dangerous. 1. They are dim. They don't illuminate the pavement adequately. 2. The low beam light projection is too short, and the cutoff line is too severe. Coming over a hill or around a curve, the low beams don't illuminate the outside curb nor telephone poles which are located on the outside curbline. I own a late model Subaru outback and a late model BMW. Both of those cars have terrific led headlights that give bright light and effective focus. I otherwise like my 2024 Hyundai, but I would not have bought it if I had known about the deficient headlights. My next car likely won't be a Hyundai if my research reveals the problem has not been properly fixed.
Multiple problems since purchasing brand new 2024 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy edition last November. Within the first 2 weeks we experienced electrical problems and the entire dashboard add monitor had to be replaced. 2nd- recall on the engine and was replaced, recall issued in February and was never notified, only found out in August when taken in for complimentary service oil change. 3rd- engine light came on 1 week later. 4. Paint was damaged and mirror was cracked while at dealership. 5. Condensation in both headlights. 6. 2nd cracked windshield since purchase. 6. The driver side window does not roll up all the way. I absolutely do not feel safe in this car with my children and elderly parents. First and last Hyundai. Nothing but constant problems. The dealership was fraudulent in the mileage the brand new car had- 500. Was not given any purchase paperwork and we paid cash for car.
The low beam headlights have a very short range, followed a severe cutoff line. There is total darkness beyond the cutoff line. These headlights are dangerous, especially on curves,.
Went to leave today, started my car and the dashboard lights (display) was off. Turned off car and restarted, still didn’t come back on after a restart.

On August 4th 2023 we drove from home in cedar rapids to our daughter’s in cottage grove wisconsin for a family event. Nearing madison, somewhere in the area of verona the battery warning symbol came on in the instrument display. It was intermittent and we continued our journey to our daughter’s house in cottage grove. We called aaa and a “tow” truck came. The driver made a visual assessment of the condition of the battery and terminals and serpentine belt and looked at our multimeter readings of battery voltage. The alternator did cut in and the battery voltage went up. He advised that we continue driving it. It made a couple of two-mile trips to and from our hotel in cottage grove, with no display of the battery warning icon on the instrument display. On Sunday August 6 2023 we set off for home. The battery icon was not displayed. About 15 miles from departure while we were on the madison beltline highway the following occurred without warning: •the central navigation display went blank •a number of different warnings came up on the instrument display •power steering was lost •the emergency warning flashers and the direction indicators wouldn’t work •a lot of warning icons were displayed on the instrument display this was absolutely unacceptable and life shorteningly frightening. I won’t use curse words or s**t here but use your imagination. We were able to get to the hard shoulder without crashing. Surprisingly the engine was still running and we were very close to an exit (fish hatchery road) so we were able to limp and wrestle it to a business’ parking area.

Hyndai recalled our vehicle for a tow hitch wiring problem last year. Instead of resolving the issue, they simply pulled the fuse and told us that we cannot tow with lights until they resolve the recall. My understanding is that this recall has been on the books for over a year now. This is extremely frustrating as I am not able to use the tow capability that I paid for when purchasing this vehicle and according to the dealer, no fix has been provided. How do I complain? how do I get something done here? thank you.
My car randomly starts itself if I leave the keys in it. Tge auto lights stopped working one night while driving. Hasn't done it again since. While my son and I were driving it decided to shut off at 50 mph. There was no warning at all. It has not been inspected as it has nit happened again to be seen.
-head lights -when driving in mountains (curves and going up and down hills) at night the head lights produced a shadow effect, which gave the impression it was on the windshield sight line. This shadow effect varied from 1/3 to 2/3 of the windshield which caused a distorted view of the road ahead. There were 4 adults in the car and all agreed that it was making the road dangerous to drive on. We had to slow down well below the actual speed limit which would cause cars coming around a curve behind us to quickly slow down or run into us. - took car to bronco motors in boise id and explained the headlight issue they told us that one other person had come in complaining about this same issue. Their mechanic told us that there is no way to adjust the headlights. -no warnings.
The low beam headlights are too bright causing vehicles in the opposite direction to flash their high beams thinking that my high beams are on. This is a safety factor as I am often blinded by other drivers who flash their high beams and in many cases keep their high beams on. I've visited Palisade chat rooms and have found that other drivers have the same complaint. I have contacted Hyundai headquarters and reported the problem and have taken it to dealers three times to have the low beams lowered. I have been told that the low beam adjustment is correct and nothing can be done to fix my problem. I believe this low beam problem is a design defect and should be corrected. My vehicle is available for examination if necessary.
