I am writing to report a compliance issue regarding Hyundai recall 292 (NHTSA 26v-034). My vehicle has been grounded due to the safety risks outlined in this recall (specifically the failure of side curtain airbags to meet ejection mitigation standards for third-row occupants). Despite the vehicle being rendered unusable for safe transport, Hyundai is refusing to provide or reimburse a rental vehicle. This is a direct contradiction to the reimbursement plan submitted by Hyundai to the NHTSA on March 2, 2026, which states that the manufacturer will provide owners of affected vehicles reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain a remedy for the recall condition. Since a final remedy is currently "not available," the only interim "remedy" to ensure occupant safety is to provide a rental vehicle. By grounding the vehicle but refusing to cover alternate transportation, Hyundai is effectively forcing owners to continue driving an unsafe vehicle or incur significant financial hardship, which undermines the entire purpose of the safety recall. I request that the NHTSA investigate Hyundai’s refusal to honor its reimbursement commitments for grounded vehicles under recall 292 and ensure that all affected owners are provided with safe, manufacturer-covered transportation until a permanent fix is installed.

Seats problem #2

The 3rd row power seats do not always recognize something or someone sitting there and will continue to fold down. After seeing the reports of a little girl passing away we wanted to test our 3rd row power seats. We placed a car seat in the 3rd row and it did recognize that and stopped folding. Next, I sat in the seat and my husband pushed the fold button and it kept trying to fold down on me until I pushed back with a good amount of force, a child would not be able to prevent the chair from stopping. Last, we placed a large stuffed animal and buckled it in and hit the power button and it completely folded down on top of it. I have reached out to my local dealership 4/16 and had a service advisor confirm my car to be impacted by this problem. They did offer a loaner car until there was a remedy in place. This issue does not currently show up on a list of recalls however which is very concerning.

Seats problem #3

I am filing this complaint to formally report that Hyundai’s finalized remedy for the power seat safety recall (recall 296) is entirely inadequate, introduces secondary safety hazards, and constitutes a fundamental breach of express warranty regarding the vehicle’s advertised capabilities. Rather than engineering a physical hardware fix to add the necessary anti-pinch sensors that were omitted during manufacturing, Hyundai deployed a permanent software downgrade that breaks heavily marketed core features. I purchased this vehicle approximately two months ago specifically for its seamless third-row accessibility. The first page of the 2026 Palisade sales brochure explicitly states: "and every Palisade offers a one-touch walk-in feature that lets passengers access the third row without removing a child seat. Best of all, every power seat can also be controlled from the driver’s display – so you can be the ultimate host. " Hyundai’s final software fix permanently destroys both of these guaranteed features. It completely disables the driver's ability to fold or stow the seats from the central touchscreen. Furthermore, it replaces the one-touch access with a continuous press-and-hold requirement, and mandates that the rear liftgate must be open to use the fold-flat functions from the cargo area. This multi-step process introduces a new safety hazard. Forcing passengers to stand outside the vehicle for extended periods holding a button, or requiring a parent to exit the vehicle and open the rear liftgate just to adjust the seats in a busy school drop-off zone or parking lot, puts my family directly in harm's way. By pushing a software downgrade to quickly lift a stop-sale order, Hyundai has permanently degraded the exact functionality they used to sell the vehicle, rather than implementing a true mechanical repair. I urge the NHTSA to reject this software patch as a final remedy and compel Hyundai to develop a proper physical hardware retrofit.

My [xxx] old was sitting in the middle right captain chair in her carseat. My [xxx] daughter was in the third row. My [xxx] daughter accidentally hit the power seat tilt button making the seat my [xxx] old was sitting in push up against the back of the front right passenger seat, crushing my [xxx] olds feet, where she suffered a broken foot where the toes meet the rest of the foot. We had to bring my [xxx] to the emergency room and podiatrist where xrays confirmed the injury. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #5

The issue involves a safety defect affecting the second- and third-row seating system in my 2026 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy. The defect has been identified through an active manufacturer recall indicating a risk of injury to passengers in these seating positions. The vehicle has been out of service and in the dealership’s possession since April 3, 2026, and is available for inspection upon request. This defect poses a direct safety risk, particularly to children. I have two young children, who would regularly occupy these seats. Due to the recall and lack of an effective repair, I am unable to safely use these seating positions, significantly limiting the safe operation and intended use of the vehicle. The issue has been confirmed by the manufacturer through a safety recall and stop sale. The dealership acknowledged the defect and accepted the vehicle for service; however, after attempted repairs, the condition remained unresolved. When I tested the vehicle at the dealership, both I and a technician observed that the seats continued to present a safety hazard. Specifically, the seat mechanism did not stop or resist as expected and continued moving in a manner that could cause injury. The seat did not stop under pressure and could potentially trap or crush an occupant, even with applied resistance. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership following direction from a Hyundai motor America case manager. There has been no involvement from police or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or prior symptoms. The defect was identified through a manufacturer-issued recall on or about March 29, 2026. The defect presents a foreseeable risk of injury during normal use and has not been corrected despite manufacturer awareness and attempted repair.

Seats problem #6

I own a 2026 Hyundai Palisade hybrid calligraphy. A recent over-the-air software update removed the ability to control rear seats through the infotainment system, which was a key feature at the time of purchase. This change was made without meaningful notice or consent and significantly alters how the vehicle is used. In some situations, it now requires physically reaching or repositioning to operate seats, which may create new safety or usability concerns when managing passengers or cargo. I relied on this feature while managing kids in the car. I was accustomed to this feature and it was a large reason we purchased the car. It was not “convenience” but a function that allowed us to manage our kids saftey I am submitting this complaint because a major vehicle function was removed after purchase, and I believe post-sale software changes that reduce functionality should be reviewed.

Seats problem #7

I have reached out multiple times to the dealership to fix my car but it’s been months since the recalls. I have three kids and I all rows in my car are unsafe due to the seatbelts.

Seats problem #8

There is a recall for the displacement of my 3rd row headrest. I have small children and are in the 3rd row daily. Also, although my 3rd row is under recall for mechanical issues, my 3rd row did malfunction and close on items in the 3rd row on 4/5/26. The sensors didn't detect that there were larger items in my vehicle and continued to close down. Also at this time, the right side wouldn't raise back up after me pushing the button multiple times. The seats not returning to an upright position with pressing the button, has happened multiple times. I never received notification that there are safety recalls on my vehicle. The reason I was given by Hyundai was that I didn't receive the notifications was because I didn't purchase my car from a Hyundai dealership. I am extremely concerned for the safety of my children in my vehicle. I tried to get the seatbelt recall repaired on 4/11/26, but the dealership didn't give me a loaner vehicle, as the Hyundai care center had instructed them to do. I called back to the same dealership today, and they were only able to give me a 4 door car ( Hyundai sonata). This vehicle doesn't have enough seats for my children. There were no warning messages prior to the malfunction.

Hello, I would like to report the rental company that rented us the car with 2 open recalls. The name of the company is nu car rental locating at 2900 se 6th Ave, fort lauderdale, FL 33316. It rented us a Hyundai Palisade with the plate number [xxx] from April 5 to April 10th, 2026. They knew that we needed a car for 6 people and that the 3rd row was going to be used. And the 2nd recall relates to the use of 3 row seats. Please see the rental agreement as a proof. I know the same company in orlando was under federal investigation for the same issue. To my knowledge, rental companies are prohibited from renting cars with open recalls by the federal law. Please investigate this company. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #10

In my 2022 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy awd, the third row power fold seats did not stop upon closing while testing it out on water bottles. It completely shut over two gallon jugs of distilled water, as well as a case of water. I believe there are more vehicles that this 3rd row power fold recall should branch over, and is not. So many children and animals are at risk and are not aware.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers: 25v607000 (seat belts) and 26v034000 (air bags). The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts for the recall repairs were on back order. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Seats problem #12

The powered operation of the third row in the 2025 Hyundai Palisade fails to stop if anything or anyone is sitting or placed on the third row seat. There has been a report of a [xxx] death with respect to this operation already in ohio and other injuries across the nation. Hyundai has already placed a stop sell on this vehicle but there are many other vehicles on the road at the moment that can cause additional deaths. There is no requirement to stop driving this vehicle by the NHTSA and it is giving Hyundai 18 months to find and test a remedy. We personally tested the operation with someone in the third row seat and the seat failed to stop closing when the rear compartment button was pressed. As an adult I felt that I would have been crushed if my partner did not reverse the operation. A child in that seat would have been killed. That button can easily be pressed by anything stored in the rear compartment while the vehicle is being driven. We leased our vehicle to carry grandchildren but now cannot use it due to the safety risks. Continuing to drive these vehicle is a serious risk of death and injury and the NHTSA should be protecting the consumers who still have these vehicles on the road. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #13

While loading the rear of the vehicle at the end of a camp trip, my child was seated in the second row seat. When I was loading equipment into the trunk, some of the equipment bumped the button that activates folding the seat in the second row. The seat sensor did not identify my child was in the seat, and it began to close on my child. My child was able to open the door and escape the seat before he was crushed. There is a known recall for this hazard.

Seats problem #14

The seat reclining system. When I clicked to fold the seats, it doesn’t detect if someone is sitting there so it folds in on the person and they get stuck on the person. The seat keeps trying to fold even if a child is in the seat or not. So it folds over and closes in on the child.

Seats problem #15

The third-row seats in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade are closing fully even when there are clear obstructions in the seat path. I tested this multiple times — including with case of water — and the seats did not stop, reverse, or provide any safety resistance. They closed completely each time. I am aware this exact issue has already been identified and recalled in the 2026 Palisade, which raises major concerns about whether the same defect exists in the 2025 model. After repeating the test with several different objects and getting the same dangerous result, I am extremely alarmed. This is a critical safety hazard for anyone seated in the third row. There has already been at least one reported death related to this malfunction, and knowing what I know now, I do not feel safe allowing anyone to sit in that row until this is investigated and resolved. This issue requires immediate attention and action. The risk is serious, foreseeable, and potentially fatal. I am requesting that Hyundai address this as a priority before someone else is injured.

Seats problem #16

My 2025 Hyundai Palisade is currently subject to multiple safety recalls affecting occupant safety. These include a recall involving seat belt buckle assemblies in the front and second row seating positions, as well as a separate recall involving the third-row seating area where the vehicle may not meet federal safety standards for occupant protection and may increase the risk of injury during a rollover crash. At this time, there is no available remedy for the third-row safety recall. Although no crash or injury has occurred, I regularly transport my children in this vehicle and am concerned about operating a vehicle that has been identified as having an increased risk of injury in a rollover crash without any available fix. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I have scheduled a dealership appointment to address the recalls that currently have available remedies. However, the primary safety concern remains unresolved due to the lack of a repair for the third-row issue. This situation raises concerns about occupant safety and the ability to safely transport passengers.

Seats problem #17

Some time around November the third row seat didn’t close, so I opened it back up, didn’t see anything stopping it, hit the button again, and then it closed but I heard a crunching noise - I reopened to discover there was a plastic storage box that ended up getting completely crushed. I didn’t think much about it, not even after the recall, until this week. The same left side of third row was closed. I went to open it to get ready to pack out for spring break and it opened half way and got stuck at a 45 degree open angle. It wouldn’t close or open again. During this same time trying to figure it out, my teenager opened the driver side rear door to get into the rear seat to see if something was getting it stuck. At the same time I opened the driver door and the driver seat automatically started moving backwards like always, but with my teenager being the driver seat and her foot got stuck under the driver seat because that sensor as well in the front seat didn’t stop when she was behind it. I think it is beyond just the serving and third rows and the front toe doesn’t have a proper sensor either. This was Friday at 4:50. I immediately called my dealer to see if they could help us get something fixed so we could leave for spring break as planned the next day and they said managers were already gone for the day and told my Hyundai corp needed to handle and gave me that phone number. Hyundai corp. Opened a ticket for me, but said that this was definitely something the dealer would have to handle in regards to getting me a rental and any matter of recourse. I called my local dealer back who said that no one would be able to talk to me until Monday so we had to delay our spring break trip and we are still in limbo, wondering what is going to happen tomorrow. My husband is absolutely refusing to put our family of four children in the car at this moment because of the safety issues unresolved.

Seats problem #18

I tested the 3rd row in my Palisade calligraphy 2022 after a death of a little girl happened in a 2026 model. I placed a case of water bottles in the seat, where my children have ridden so many times before on trips. Watched the seat go down, not one time did the sensor trigger. The water bottles were crushed. This is terrifying findings. It means its not just Hyundais 2026 problems, this is much bigger of an issue. Please please please look into this.

Seats problem #19

I am concerned that there is no remedy for seat belts in 1/2 row and there is a risk of injury in the event of an accident in third row, I have two young children and feel there are no safe seating arrangements in the event of an accident and remedy identified.

Seats problem #20

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and running with the third-row passenger’s side seat in the cargo position, and the driver’s side third-row seat in the upright position, the [xxx] child pressed the third-row seat button, and the passenger’s side third-row seat opened and pinned the child’s leg between the driver and passenger’s side third-row seats. The contact stated that three different people pressed the third-row seat button, but the seat failed to respond. The contact's father and husband both pushed and pulled in opposite directions, and the contact was able to pull the child's leg out from the seats. The child sustained right leg injuries, and the leg was red and swollen. No medical attention was needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that a remedy had not yet been developed. The failure mileage was 171,403. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #21

Subject: urgent safety complaint – child entrapment due to seat malfunction – Hyundai Palisade calligraphy on [xxx], my wife was picking up our two [xxx] children from school in our recently purchased Hyundai Palisade calligraphy (purchased on [xxx]). Our daughter was properly seated in a booster seat in the second-row passenger seat next to my son. Without warning, the vehicle seat began to automatically fold forward and compress inward onto the child. The seat did not respond to any controls and continued closing despite my wife’s attempts to stop it. The force of the seat crushed the booster seat. My wife had to physically intervene and pull our daughter out while the seat continued to move. The seat ultimately locked in a compressed position and could not be reversed using any available controls. This incident caused extreme distress and posed a serious risk of severe injury or death to our child. A school staff member witnessed my wife’s distress immediately following the incident. Upon contacting Hyundai customer service, we were informed that Hyundai was already aware of this issue and that a recall had recently been issued. We were also told that there has already been at least one death associated with this defect. Despite this knowledge, we were not notified prior to this incident. We only received a recall-related communication after the event occurred. We attempted to bring the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership on March 25, 2026. The dealership had no record of our scheduled appointment, could not provide an immediate inspection, and did not offer a loaner vehicle despite the vehicle being unsafe for transporting children. We are no longer able to safely use this vehicle for our family. This complaint is being filed due •a critical safety defect involving automatic seat movement and child entrapment •failure to adequately warn consumers of a known dangerous condition •exposure of a mino information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #22

I am the owner of a 2026 Hyundai Palisade, purchased new less than 60 days ago. This vehicle is currently subject to a safety recall involving the 2nd and 3rd row power seat assemblies, which reportedly lack sufficient anti-pinch protection during certain seat adjustment functions, including automatic power-folding (stow) and the one-touch tilt-and-slide (“walk-in”) feature. We experienced this defect firsthand in our vehicle. During operation of the second-row seat adjustment feature, the seat continued moving without adequate resistance detection or automatic stop, indicating a failure of the anti-pinch protection system. This created a hazardous condition where an occupant could become trapped or injured by the moving seat mechanism. This issue is especially concerning because these seat functions are located in areas of the vehicle intended for passengers and children. We have an infant who will be occupying these seating areas, and this defect presents a direct safety risk. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have also become aware that this defect has been linked to multiple injuries and the death of a young child. Additionally, Hyundai has issued a stop-sale on affected vehicles, yet current owners are still expected to operate them without a confirmed repair available. At this time, no remedy has been completed on my vehicle, and I do not believe it is safe to operate given the nature of the defect and its location within the passenger seating area. I was told to ask the dealership for a loaner, which the dealership does not have. Additionally, Hyundai said they would cover $60/day in rental fees. A similarly-sized SUV in our area rents at $210/day - a payment discrepancy we cannot afford.

Seats problem #23

While sitting in the third row and attempting to grab something, my husband accidentally pushed the fold buttons and seats began to close on me. It continued to close until my husband was able to push the button to reverse it. It did not register there was a person in the way and I could’ve been seriously injured if he was not there.

Seats problem #24

It requires significant force to cause the seat detection to stop folding. I’m concerned for the safety of passengers if this was accidentally engaged since easily accessible in the 3rd row.

Seats problem #25

The third-row power seat fails to detect obstructions and continues closing under resistance, even when encountering large objects such as a fully loaded backpack. The seat does not stop or reverse, indicating a failure of the obstruction detection / anti-pinch safety feature. This creates a crushing hazard to passengers, including children. A fatal incident involving a similar seat malfunction in the same make and model has been reported. The problem persists whenever the seat is operated, and the malfunction has been documented on video. Although the vehicle has not been inspected by a dealership, Hyundai consumer affairs has been provided with video evidence. They have suggested further inspection, but no engineering-level evaluation of this safety issue has been completed. The seat continues to close under resistance and does not stop or reverse. The failure of the seat’s obstruction detection system creates a significant crushing hazard. Although no injury has occurred in my vehicle, the reported fatal incident involving the same defect shows the potential for serious injury or death. Video evidence demonstrating the seat malfunction is available. All correspondence with Hyundai consumer affairs documenting attempts to resolve this issue can be provided upon request.

Seats problem #26

My [xxx] daughter and I were sitting in a parking lot while we waiting for my other child in an appointment. She was walking back and forth between the front of the car and the back of the car. Then all of a sudden I heard screaming and I looked back and she was completely folded in half in the 3rd row seats that were collapsed on her. I jumped back to try and get her out, which I couldn’t, and it took me several seconds to figure out which buttons to push to open the seats back up. I took her to the doctor and they said that really lucky based on how she folded in the seat. I knew there was a recall, but I did not realize that a [xxx] girl died from this on Friday. There have been several incidents where the seats started to close by themselves on our car seats (and the car seats didn’t prevent them from closing), but luckily I was there right when it happened and was able to push a buttons to stop it (again, not intuitive on which buttons to push). None of the buttons are intuitive on how they function. The seats have also closed in on my older children before, but they were able to stop them or jump out of the seats in time. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #27

There have been 2 safety recalls and I find that unacceptable for my family. What are my options for a buy back?.

Seats problem #28

On Saturday, March 14, 2026 we received a text message from Hyundai indicating there was a recall for the car. The message contained info stating to use caution when using the power seats. There were no instructions regarding what to do and no info regarding the need to contact the dealer. “use caution” was the message given. A second message was received on March 16 at 8:56 pm with the same information but also stated there was “no remedy”. Again it was stated to “use caution”. (what is that exactly??). Please note the following incidents: on Monday, March 16 at 4 pm my husband was securing our [xxx] grandchild into the 3rd row seat to his carseat. He was in the backseat to strap him in when the 2nd row seat began to move backward and ultimately trap him. He was unable to get out. I was in the trunk area so I pushed the switch in the cargo area to push the seat forward. There was no response and the seat kept closing in on him. He was being crushed by the seat and his legs were pinned. He recently had a hip replacement. Our grandchild was being crushed with my husband on top of him. We were eventually able to move the seat forward off of my husband. Another grandchild was in a car seat in the second row. The second row seat started to fold down on top of her and I was unable to stop it. The rear facing carseat wedged her between the seats. She was trapped as well. Her legs were pushed up to her shoulders and she was crying. She weighs about 20 pounds. We were unable to move the seat off of her. The carseat remained wedged between the 1st and 2nd rows. We were able to pull her out of the carseat but were unable to get the seat to unfold. See photos that evening we watched the news and noted the story involving the death of a toddler who experienced a malfunction of the seats. Note when we first got the car on 12/22/25 the seats crushed a garbage can(photo) we now realize why that happened. We contacted the dealer on 3/17, returned car 3/18. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of informa.

Seats problem #29

The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number (awaiting1), manufacturer recall number: 296 (seats); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the 2nd and 3rd row power seats failed to adjust as needed. The contact was concerned that small children may be injured due to the seats not operating properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Seats problem #30

On March 15, 2026, a life-threatening incident occurred involving my [xxx] infant in the second row of my 2026 Hyundai Palisade hybrid caligraphy. While the 2nd-row power seat was being adjusted via the 'one-touch' tilt-and-slide feature, the seat failed to detect my child's presence. It continued to move, creating an immediate and terrifying crushing hazard. I had to frantically intervene and physically pull my infant out of the seat's path just seconds before a potential tragedy. The anti-pinch protection in the 2nd and 3rd row power seat assemblies is critically insufficient. As demonstrated by this 'near-miss' event, the sensors fail to stop the motor during automatic folding or walk-in features. This defect is identical to the one involved in the recent reported fatality. I have immediately grounded the vehicle as it is a death trap for families with small children. I am reporting this to prevent another fatal accident. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #31

I brought my car in to get the recall fixed for the seat belts and the emissions issue. When it was returned to me, the passenger seat was not bolted down in the front (the bolts were rolling around on the floor) and the back bolts were loose. The vehicle was returned to me with the passenger seat completely unattached at the front. When I braked, the seat slammed into my [xxx] ’s car seat. This is no longer a 'service issue'; this is a liability and safety failure involving a federal recall. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #32

Within months of purchase, I reported to james wood Hyundai in decatur that my children were repeatedly becoming unbuckled in the rear bucket seats. I was told the seatbelts were fine yet I continued raising this concern at multiple service visits because the issue persisted. This was an ongoing safety problem not an isolated complaint. Years later, Hyundai issued a recall for this exact defect. I promptly contacted the nearest dealership to schedule repairs and explained that this concern has been documented since shortly after purchase. I was informed repairs would be delayed several weeks because enterprise fleet vehicles were being prioritized and was told I am the “only person” experiencing this issue a statement that conflicts with a formal safety recall. Enterprise cannot legally rent vehicles with open safety recalls due to safety concerns, yet I am expected to transport my children in a vehicle with known defective rear seatbelts. Now there is another recall regarding passenger safety in the third row with no remedy so my children have no safe seat to use in my car. When I asked who’s responsible if my kids are injured in the second or third row of my car they will not respond.

Seats problem #33

The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while checking all the vehicle features, the second-row passenger seat independently started to fold. The contact believed it was operator’s error since the vehicle was recently purchased. The contact received notification of nthsa campaign number: 26v160000 (seats). The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the remedy was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,744.

Seats problem #34

Incident description: while assisting a child seated in the third row, my wife leaned between the second-row seatback and the vehicle’s side pillar to unbuckle the child’s seatbelt. During this time, the second-row “3rd-row access” button was accidentally pressed, which triggered the automatic powered seat movement. The second-row seat began reclining and moving without warning, and my wife’s head became trapped between the seatback and the side pillar as the seat continued to move. The powered seat did not immediately stop when resistance was encountered, creating a dangerous entrapment situation involving the head and neck area. The seat had to be manually stopped to free her. Fortunately, serious injury was avoided, but the situation posed a significant risk of head, neck, or crushing injury, especially in a family vehicle frequently used to access the third row. Safety concern: the second-row automatic seat movement can be triggered accidentally and does not appear to have adequate obstruction detection or pinch protection. When someone is leaning into the third row (which is common when assisting children), the seat movement can create a severe head or body entrapment hazard. This appears to be a serious safety defect involving powered seat movement and inadequate obstruction detection.

Seats problem #35

The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while parked in the driveway, the seat adjustment feature on the second-row passenger side captain's seat failed to detect the presence of a minor occupant. As a result, the seat continued to move, causing compression of the child, who was ultimately able to slide out. The seat adjustment feature became inoperable. The contact stated that the minor occupant sustained a sore back. No medical treatment was obtained. No other injuries were sustained. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact is relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number 26v160000 (seats). The failure occurred at 5,897 miles.

Seats problem #36

The vehicle is a 2026 Hyundai Palisade equipped with second- and third-row power seats subject to recall #296. The power seat system may fail to detect contact with an occupant or object during operation, including folding and tilt functions. This creates a safety risk because the seat can continue moving despite contact with a person, increasing the risk of injury, particularly to children in the rear seating area. This defect has been associated with a reported child fatality. The issue is known and confirmed by the manufacturer through the recall. I became aware of the condition in early March 2026. There were no prior warning messages or indicators before learning of the defect. At this time, no repair or remedy is available and no timeline for correction has been provided. The vehicle remains in service with this unresolved safety defect. Hyundai has been engaged in delay tactics rather than customer service. The condition has not been independently repaired or corrected. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

Seats problem #37

I own a 2026 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy hybrid, VIN [xxx] ]. My vehicle is included in two safety recalls: 1. Second- and third-row power-folding seats may fail to detect a person or object, creating a risk of trapping or crushing a child. 2. [second recall issue—e. G. , seat sensor/seatbelt defect] may prevent proper seat operation or restraint, further endangering passengers. I transport a toddler daily, and have another little one on the way. While these recalls are unresolved, I cannot safely use the vehicle. No accident or injury has occurred, but the defects pose a significant risk of child injury or death. I am filing this complaint to document these serious safety risks and request that the NHTSA ensure Hyundai addresses both defects promptly. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Brandon Hyundai sold me this vehicle with an active stop sale. On February 20, 2026, I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Palisade from the dealership. After taking delivery of the vehicle, I discovered that the VIN associated with the vehicle was subject to an active manufacturer stop-sale related to a safety recall for which no remedy was available at the time of delivery. This critical information was not disclosed to me during the sales process and was not reflected in any documentation provided at closing, including the buyer’s order or “we owe” form. As a consumer, I relied on the dealership to comply with applicable safety requirements and to be transparent about the condition and status of the vehicle being sold. Upon discovering the stop-sale status, I returned to the dealership the very next day, on Saturday February 21, 2026, to address the issue. During that visit, I spoke with both the sales manager and the finance manager. At that time, I was told that there was nothing that could be done because I had already signed the contract and “the ink was dry. ” the seriousness of the concern I raised was initially dismissed. As I am sure you know, the contract should be void when selling a vehicle in violation of the law. Both of these managers promised me that the vehicle had undergone a safety check prior to delivery, which is not true, as later discussed. It was not until the following Monday morning, February 23, 2026, after escalating the issue again and speaking with another manager, that the dealership agreed to reverse the transaction. On that second attempt, the deal was unwound and my trade-in vehicle and down payment were returned to me. While I acknowledge that the dealership ultimately corrected the situation, the fact remains that the vehicle should never have been delivered to a consumer while under an active stop-sale condition. The initial refusal to address the issue when it was first raised with management was deeply concerning.

Rear drivers side third row seat did not stop closing when child was sitting in the seat (button was accidentally pressed by child). Thankfully we were loading the trunk and were able to move the child out of the way while another one of us hit the button to lift the seat back up. Child was [xxx] lbs/ [xxx] old. My car has been at the dealership since Feb 2, 2026 and there has been no repair. When I inquire I am told there is a back order for parts. No one updates me unless I reach out. There is no help for a vehicle to drive or date when recall will be fixed.

Seats problem #42

On Friday, 1/30/26, my daughter, granddaughter and grandson were heading out of town and tried to lower the 3rd row seat on the driver's side to put our luggage in the back. My [xxx] granddaughter was buckled in the second row seat. The 2nd row seat button was pushed. My granddaughter started screaming about the seat coming down on her. We kept trying to stop it, it finally stopped (we were lucky). I ran to my granddaughter and she was completely squashed in the seat and could not get out. She is tiny, roughly 40 lbs, the opening was roughly 6" to 8". It was not easy but I was able to pull her out. We did not touch the button or try to move the seat until I arrived back home on Saturday night, 1/31/26. My husband pushed the button and was able to place the 2nd row seat back into place. This was really scarry and with all the sensors the Palisade has, I am not sure how this happened. Prior to purchasing this car, we did our research on the safety and reliability of 2026 SUV's. What is the length of time Hyundai has to recall and repair? this is really a liability to everyone. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I was vacuuming out my car with my children. I was on the passenger side and had the second row seat folded down so I could vacuum behind it. I hit a button on the side of the seat. As I was bent over the seat vacuuming still I didn’t realize it was autocorrecting to the full upright position. It did not detect me there and before I knew it I was being sandwiched between the seat back and side of the car. Thankfully because I am an adult and taller I rose up on my tip toes quickly as I was screaming for my children to help. But I didn’t have enough time to get out completely. My head was pinched between the second row seat head rest and the side of the car. I was panicking to find the button as my daughter came running over to find a button to free myself. My ears were red and sore and the side of my head was sore for a while. I’m terrified to think that if that was one of my children as they were helping me vacuum that they would not have been able to raise up tall enough to keep from having severe head trauma or that if the seat had gone back just a little further how seriously injured I may have been. I was traumatized for several days. Understanding that a child died now is just heartbreaking and scares me even more!.

Vehicle is a 2025 Hyundai Palisade subject to Hyundai recall 292, concerning improper deployment of the third-row side curtain air bags in a crash, in noncompliance with fmvss 226 (ejection mitigation). Per Hyundai's recall notice, the remedy is still under development and no repair is currently available. The manufacturer has advised owners to continue driving while awaiting the remedy. The safety concern is significant because an infant is regularly transported in the third row of this vehicle. In a side-impact crash, improper side curtain air bag deployment increases the risk of injury or occupant ejection — a risk that falls directly on the person seated in the affected row. With no remedy available, owners have no means to mitigate this risk other than ceasing to use the third row entirely, which is not a reasonable long-term solution for a three-row SUV purchased specifically to accommodate additional family members. Regarding the specific guideline questions: the defect is a manufacturer-identified noncompliance and has not been (and cannot be) reproduced or inspected by a dealer, because no diagnostic or repair procedure exists. There are no warning lamps or pre-failure symptoms, as the defect would only manifest in the event of a crash. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance, as no crash has occurred. I am filing this complaint to formally document the safety risk while a remedy remains unavailable, and to request that NHTSA prioritize expedited development and deployment of the fix.

My 9 year old daughter was sitting in middle row, as her sisters were getting in as well, the recliner button was pressed and she was being pinned against the front row seat. She wiggled her way out but suffers from spina bifida and wears afo braces for her feet. Her foot braces were caught and they snapped but luckily she was able to wiggle out.

2026 Hyundai Palisade caligraphy walk-in auto cycle crushed my adult daughter's legs between second row seat and the driver's seat. This occurred after my daughter took her seat (in the 2nd row) and our [xxx] grandson (sitting behinder her in the 3rd row seat) inadvertently pressed the "walk-in" button on the back of his mother's seat. Once the auto-cycle started, she did not know how to stop it. This is a completely unacceptable design as the vehicle will move seats in auto-cycle despite the fact that there is a person sitting in the seat. I reported this problem to the dealer and to Hyundai corporation as a safety issue. I insisted that the vehicle design should be immediately changed and that they treat this as a safety issue. Hyundai engaged with a third party inspector (eaa bosch) to review the vehicle and the design. Hyundai's final disposition on this to me (sent on Feb. 27, 2026 stated: ". . . There is no evidence of a defect or malfunction contributing to the reported condition with the seat, at this time. Therefore, while we sympathize with you about the incident, in the absence of a finding of a defect, Hyundai will not be accepting any liability or offering any financial assistance. " we asked Hyundai to fix this problem before someone got hurt. Yesterday, (March 16, 2026) we learned that a [xxx] girl was killed by one of these power seats with what appears to be the identical issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #49

I’m frustrated with the seatbelt recall. The dealership has been amazing at assisting us, but it’s Hyundai that’s dropping the ball with only release 2 seatbelt buckles per week, per dealership. I have 2 seatbelts in my vehicle that are randomly coming unbuckled. I’ve had a few appointments trying to get it fixed, but they can’t get the parts in. Then to receive a letter in the mail about the third row seat. This isn’t just my daily driver, I haul 4 kids in this vehicle with 2 seatbelts coming unbuckled! this should be a priority in fixing, all of it.

Seats problem #50

A passenger got into the passenger side middle row seat and the seat fold up button was accidentally bumped while the person was trying to get situated and buckled. The seat began moving and folding forward, pinning the passenger between the seat they were in and the back of the front seat. This incident hurt the passenger who had the force of the seat against her and it frightened her very badly. If the door had been locked, the passenger would not have been able to be helped out and could have sustained worse injuries. I have not had the dealer look at this yet as we live almost 3 hours away from the nearest one.

The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while his mother was exiting the vehicle, her ankle was crushed by the seats, and medical attention was provided. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received the recall notification letter for NHTSA campaign number: awaiting1 (seats). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 1,500.

I have attached a letter detailing the issues and the problems with the vehicle in pdf format.

Seats problem #53

The 2nd and 3rd row power-folding seats in my 2026 Hyundai Palisade do not detect the presence of a person or object when automatically folding. The seats continue to fold even if someone is sitting on the seat, creating a serious entrapment and injury risk and even death, especially for children. I reported this safety concern multiple times to the selling dealer (Hyundai of kirkland), but they stated they could not disable the auto-fold function or provide a fix. Hyundai has now issued recall 296 related to this defect after a reported child fatality, which confirms the safety risk I previously raised. I purchased this vehicle to transport my newborn child and this defect creates a severe safety hazard. I am filing this complaint to document the issue and the lack of a timely remedy.

Seats problem #54

While on/idol, the 3rd row seat (left/drivers side) folded down on my 9 year old niece. Myself, mother, 6 year old daughter, sister in law, brother and 12 year old niece all witnessed this happen as we were loading into the car after playing at the park (I had the car turned on). Her head got pinned to the headrest of the 2nd row captain seat. The buttons did not respond as they usually/supposed to do to stop and reverse the folding action. The seat continued to press against her skull. After realizing the buttons in the cargo were not going to work, I had an idea and ran to the 2nd row door and pressed the captain seat button to slide it forward (my child was in that captain seat in a rear facing carseat). It wasn't able to move much but enough that the trapped girl was able to force her head out and her mom pulled her the rest of the way out to release her. It was very traumatizing. That 3rd row seat remained in that almost closed position as the buttons still would not function so we drove home. Eventually I tried the buttons in the again and it unfolded the seat. I have tested these buttons over and over since then to figure out what happened. Every time I test them, each button allows me to either release it and the action stops, or press the button again and the action stops. I do not know why it wouldn't respond to doing that same that day. Prior to that incident, sometime between getting the car on 7/31 and mid-November, I had an empty unbuckled backless booster car seat in the third row right/passenger side as a backup for daughters friends to use, and without remembering it was there, I pressed the button to fold down the 3rd row right side chair and it kept stopping and auto reversing, several times before I realized OH ya, the booster is back there. So when the innocent happened with my niece, it came as a big surprise because that booster weighs nothing compared to a 9 year old. It has not happened again.

Seats problem #55

Power folding seats do not stop when met with an obstruction. Occupant exiting the 3rd row of the vehicle was squished between the 2nd row seat and door frame of vehicle while trying to exit and it was very painful. When tested at the dealership, they confirmed that, even if excessive force is applied to the seat back while it’s folding or sliding, it will not stop folding or sliding, which could cause physical injury. Dealership stated that there is no sensor to stop the seats from folding, even if there is an obstruction in the way and that you must press the button again to stop it. This is a safety concern for any passengers on the 2nd and 3rd rows, especially children.

Seats problem #56

1. The 2nd row powered seats do not (or the system failed) have a force feedback sensor or anyway to tell if something or someone is in the way from it moving the seat back. 2. If someone is climbing into the 3rd row seat and the button to move a 2nd row seat is pressed the person can be crushed, potentially pinning them in place and or choking their neck 3. The incident happened at a dealership with a at the time unsold car that had just arrived. I was personally able to reproduce the problem by pressing the button on the seat that moves it back into place while I was sitting behind it, the seat attempted to recline back pinning me in place till I pressed the button again. 4. No 5. No.

Seats problem #57

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade with fewer than 5,000 miles. Hyundai has now issued recall 296 stating that the second and third row power seats may not respond properly when contacting an occupant or object. Prior to receiving the recall notice, I had already taken the vehicle to the dealership three separate times regarding problems with the rear seats and unexplained battery failures. Each time I was told nothing was wrong with the seats. The first incident occurred when my child was seated in the rear seat. I attempted to move the seat backward to create more space, but instead of opening properly the seat continued moving in a way that began closing toward my child and would not stop. I was able to quickly remove my child before the seat fully closed. The seat then continued moving on its own. The second incident involved the vehicle battery completely dying without warning. When aaa came to jump start the vehicle, I heard the rear seat motors operating mechanically even though no one was using the seats. The third incident occurred when the battery died again and aaa was called a second time. During the jump start I again heard mechanical movement from the rear seat motors. I had to pay to replace the battery even though the vehicle was nearly new. I informed the dealership multiple times that I believed the issue was related to the seat system, but they told me they could not find anything wrong. Given that Hyundai has now issued recall 296 regarding malfunctioning power seats, I am extremely concerned that this defect presents a serious safety hazard, particularly to children in the rear seats. I believe the seat system may also be draining the battery due to unintended motor operation.

Seats problem #58

I am reporting Hyundai motor America’s failure to remedy two active safety recalls on my 2025 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [xxx] ) within a reasonable timeframe, despite multiple attempts to have the vehicle repaired. My vehicle has two open safety recalls involving critical occupant protection systems, including seat belt buckle assemblies that may fail to latch properly and a third-row occupant safety defect that increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash or rollover. On October 23, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership specifically to have the recall defects repaired. At the time of drop-off, I clearly informed the dealership that the purpose of the visit was for recall repairs. However, the dealership labeled the visit as a “maintenance appointment” instead of properly documenting it as a recall repair visit. The recall defects were not repaired. I returned to the Hyundai dealership again on February 18, 2026, after being promised that the recall repairs would be completed. Once again, Hyundai failed to repair the safety defects, and the recalls remain unresolved. It is now February 20, 2026, more than four months since I first presented the vehicle for recall repair, and Hyundai has failed to remedy these critical safety defects or provide a clear timeline for repair. These defects involve essential safety systems, including seat belts and third-row occupant protection. I have four children who regularly occupy the rear seating areas, and I am deeply concerned about their safety. Hyundai’s failure to repair these safety recalls has placed my family at risk. Because Hyundai has failed to repair the vehicle within a reasonable timeframe, I am requesting NHTSA investigation and assistance. I am also requesting that Hyundai provide trade assistance, replacement, or buyback so that I can obtain a safe vehicle for my family, at no cost to me, due to Hyundai’s inability to remedy these safety defects. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #59

I’m writing to report a serious safety concern with my 2024 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [xxx] ). The second-row seat belt on the passenger side does not retract or stay secure properly. It often remains loose or gets stuck when pulled, and sometimes won’t tighten back automatically. I brought my vehicle to the dealership, but they said they couldn’t replicate the issue. I recorded a video clearly showing the problem, which I am attaching to this message. This is extremely concerning to me because I have young children who sit in the second row, and I’m worried the seat belt could fail to protect them in an accident. It’s very scary as a parent to see a safety feature not working correctly in such a new vehicle. Additionally, the rear charger port doesn’t work properly — the dealer said it’s due to using a non-Hyundai phone charger, but the issue happens with multiple certified chargers and different devices. After checking online, I learned that Hyundai has an active seat belt recall (#283) for Palisade models (2020-2025), and my vehicle seems to fall within the affected range. I am requesting a case number and for this issue to be investigated under that recall and warranty coverage. Please confirm receipt of this message and let me know how to send or upload the video evidence for your review. I’d also like a follow-up from a regional case manager, as this is a potential safety defect involving children. Thank you for your attention and for helping ensure my family’s safety. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #60

Rear passenger captain chairs and third row bench do not respond to occupancy when folding. I have dogs who I put in the cargo area with the third row down. My dogs are prone to move and bump buttons which has caused one or both captains chairs to move forward when loading them into the vehicle. Hyundai is aware of the problem and a temporary remedy is pending. There were no warning lights or messages prior. From a complete stop acceleration is intermittently jerky until a speed over 30mph is achieved. This is likely to do with the engine but I’m unsure if that’s the only component involved. Safety has not been at risk yet because it still accelerates but in a very jerky manner. Definitely has caused anxiety wondering if/when it will get worse. There have been no warning lights or notifications prior to this happening.

Component/system: second- and third-row power seat assemblies (recall 26v160000) and third-row driver-side seat belt buckle wiring (recall 26v169000). Both components are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: the power seat system may fail to detect an occupant during folding operation, creating a crushing hazard. This defect is linked to the death of a [xxx] child in [xxx] on March 7, 2026, and multiple reported injuries. The seat belt defect may cause a false latch indicator, leaving a rear passenger unrestrained without the driver's knowledge. Confirmed by dealer/manufacturer: yes. Hyundai motor America has formally acknowledged both defects via official safety recalls. Hyundai issued a stop-sale order on all unsold 2026 Palisade calligraphy vehicles. Inspected by manufacturer: yes. Hyundai has issued an interim over-the-air software update under recall 26v160000, which it acknowledges is not a permanent fix. No permanent remedy exists for either recall as of April 2, 2026. Warning symptoms: owners received in-vehicle dashboard alerts via bluelink and direct communications from Hyundai. We purchased this vehicle September 15, 2025 with 33 miles on the odometer. We have submitted a formal written buyback demand to Hyundai motor America and are simultaneously filing complaints with the missouri attorney general's consumer protection division. We are requesting NHTSA investigate whether owners are entitled to a buyback under federal law. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #62

The driver seat will move without any input from the driver, it will move forward and also tilt as far forward as possible smashing the driver in the seat. It will do this when parked after starting the vehicle and it has also done it while driving which impedded my ability to control the vehicle. This situation is incredibly dangerous but when I've taken it to the dealer they refuse to troubleshoot the issue because they didn't see it happen. This happens probably 5-10 times per week.

Subject: safety concern – 2024 Hyundai Palisade headrest design component affected: seats / headrest vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Palisade VIN: [xxx] incident date: [xxx] mileage at time of incident: 15,000 dealer: braman Hyundai miami, 2001 ne 2nd Ave, miami, FL 33137 | (786) 623-4261 dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a safety concern involving the headrest design in my 2024 Hyundai Palisade. On [xxx], my [xxx] son briefly removed and reinserted the middle-row headrest while unsupervised. The headrest locked into place in a reversed orientation and could not be removed or corrected without disassembly by the dealership. I was charged $680 for the repair. This incident raises the following concerns: •the headrest should not be capable of locking in an incorrect and potentially unsafe position. •there are no warnings, labels, or mechanical safeguards to prevent reverse installation. •the owner's manual provides no guidance on this possibility. •this design flaw is particularly troubling in a family-oriented vehicle. •Hyundai has not acknowledged fault or offered support despite the safety implications. I believe this represents a design defect with implications under fmvss 202a and related passenger safety standards. I am therefore requesting the following: 1. Full reimbursement of the $680 repair cost, which I believe resulted from a manufacturer design oversight. 2. Written acknowledgment of whether Hyundai has previously received similar reports, and whether a technical service bulletin (TSB) or other corrective measure is planned. 3. Confirmation that this report will be reviewed by Hyundai’s safety or compliance team. Attached is a copy of the dealer invoice (no. [xxx) documenting the repair. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am available for further questions or to provide additional documentation if needed. Seats problem #64

The seatbelts in the driver, front passenger and second row passenger come unlatched by themselves, unprompted and at times, do not want to buckle until multiple times of forces them in. The driver seat with the lower seat adjustment will move unexpectedly without prompting. This is not the first time this has happened. It has occurred multiple times this past year, starting around 36,000 miles.

Seats problem #65

About 1 year ago, my child was in a forward-facing car seat in the third row. The power seat button was activated, and the seat started to fold down with my child in a car seat. It did not stop. I was panicked but luckily was able to act quickly and get the seat to stop without him being seriously injured. This was reported to Hyundai at the time and Hyundai disregarded my claim. I am now seeing a recall for this functionality in the 2026 Palisade. This is a problem dating back to the 2021 Palisade as I experienced it over a year ago.

Seats problem #66

1. Left-side captain chair: upon braking or movement slightly --the seat will come unsecured and jolt forward - causing whomever passenger who sits in it to move forward. 2. Tailgate locking lever: trunk no longer opens upon pressing the button on the exterior. Trunk only opens upon utilizing the safely unlocking feature inside the vehicle - for emergencies only. Should not fail after 4 years. 3. Engine burning oil: July 2024 refilled oil change - December 2024 - four (4 ) quarts of oil lost - vehicle is burning oil at unreasonable rates.

Seats problem #67

The second row captains chairs are able to be buckled when any booster or car seats are in the seat. The seat belt buckle is too far flush into the seat, so when any car seat/booster seat is in the seat, the buckle is inaccessible and blocked and the seat belt is not able to be used. We had to purchase seat belt extenders so the seat belt could be buckled. We spoke to Hyundai corporate and the local service center and they confirmed nothing could be done.

Seats problem #68

Front driver seat won't move forward or backwards. Rear suspension clunking noise at slow speed.

Seats problem #69

2020 Hyundai Palisade , burning through quarts of oil at an unusual rate. No oil leaks can be found. SUV is only driven around town. No long mileage trips, no out of state trips exc. This is an extreme problem that should be looked into for this year make a model. I thought Hyundai was going to be my forever go to. Unfortunately after all the issues I’m experiencing, never again will I get a vehicle that’s a Hyundai brand.

Seats problem #70

When the child safety lock is engaged and the vehicle is in a driving or no-driving state, all the doors start to make a clicking noise. I am not sure if the child lock is engaged at this point, which creates safety issues, especially when driving with kids.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while backing out of the garage in reverse, the powered front driver's seat suddenly began to erroneously move backwards, and the contact was unable to reach the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The powered seat then began to erroneously move forward, causing the seat belt to tighten around the waist area of the driver. The contact was able to put the vehicle in the park position and stop the vehicle. During the failure, no injuries were reported. Also, the contact indicated that previously, while driving, the warning message erroneously displayed, indicating that the vehicle was driving the wrong way. The contact indicated that the incident occurred while driving down a dark and unfamiliar road. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 10,000.

Seats problem #72

Vehicle has been to the dealership twice for an issue with the right-side seat bolster not correctly inflating on the driver's seat. Both times they are claiming the vehicle operates to the standards of a new vehicle on the lot but cannot give information on why the right and left sides operated differently or prove with a service manual on why. Hyundai claim's a 22-way seat, but without the right side moving, this is a 21-way seat. Would like information directly from hyundia on the correct operations of the seat and also a replacement.

Seats problem #73

2023 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy is on it's 2nd trip into the shop to fix the driver-side righthand upright bolster. It fails to inflate properly both with manual adjustment and after 80mph as it's designed to do.

Seats problem #74

I bought a 2023 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy and I found out the seat controls do not work and the air condition doesn’t work but they were fixed but the most important thing is the blue link button where the rear view mirror is inside the car that I need in case of an emergency doesn’t work at all and doesn’t connect to Hyundai blue link . I called Hyundai manufacturer and I called Hyundai blue link several times and their stupid engineers couldn’t fix the problem and I went to the dealership and their service dept and they couldn’t fix the issue . This is a brand new car that the blue link inside it doesn’t work at all and I paid for 3 years service . I push the blue link butto then it connects then it ends with no ring tone and no one on the other side . It keeps disconnecting and fails to connect me to blue link . This is a major defect in the Hyundai Palisade calligraphy and needs to be addressed seriously and professionally by Hyundai and get it fixed immediately. I am attaching photos and videos and on my car screen it shown that blue link ended on 12/31/2023 but that is wrong because I have blue link until 1/26/2026 three more years but my car screen has it as expired on 12/31/2023 and that is wrong.

Seats problem #75

I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my 2020 Hyundai Palisade due to severe and ongoing engine oil consumption that presents a safety risk, combined with an active federal airbag safety recall. For approximately one year, my vehicle has been consuming excessive engine oil. Approximately 1,500–2,000 miles after an oil change, the vehicle becomes dangerously low on oil. On January 19, 2026, at 171,650 miles, the dealership initiated Hyundai’s official oil consumption test. At intake, the engine oil level was so low that nothing was visible on the dipstick. The dealership confirmed no external oil leaks were present and began the manufacturer’s oil consumption protocol. After driving approximately 1,000 miles, I returned on February 2, 2026, at 172,657 miles. The inspection showed the engine was 2. 6 quarts low. The dealership stated combustion chamber cleaning was needed; however, Hyundai denied the repair based solely on mileage and the vehicle being out of warranty. This level of oil consumption presents a serious safety concern. Driving with critically low oil can cause sudden engine failure, stalling, or loss of power while traveling at highway speeds. This could create a crash hazard without warning. Additionally, my vehicle is subject to NHTSA recall #26v034000 (recall #292 – ejection mitigation), involving potential failure of the side curtain airbags for third-row passengers to deploy properly in certain crash scenarios. The remedy is not yet available. The combination of excessive oil consumption and an unresolved federal safety recall raises significant concerns regarding the overall safety and reliability of this vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate the engine oil consumption issue in the 2020 Hyundai Palisade, as excessive oil burning may indicate a broader manufacturing defect affecting engine integrity and driver safety. Ms. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seats problem #76

Drivers power seat will not adjust back only forward. Function only moves back based on preset settings manual lever not working.

Seats problem #77

Seat belts in second row will engage/click into place securely and then intermittently release causing the seatbelt to come disconnected during vehicle operation. I have 3 children who during an accident could be ejected from the vehicle or seriously injured if the seatbelt mechanism were to fail.

Seats problem #78

The tract that the front seat move back or forth on are dangerous while cleaning or removing mats as the end of tracts are very sharp and can slice your hand when pulling mat out or just cleaning.

Seats problem #79

After pressing side button on seat for auto folding function the seat will no longer lock into its track. I took the vehicle to the dealership for a repair and was advised it will be a month before the part arrives on my 2 day old vehicle. I'm completely disgusted at the thought my child could be killed by a seat that just slides back and forth with nothing stopping forward or rear movement other than my drivers seat or the rear 3rd row seat. I'm pretty sure in an event of an accident forward motion to that degree would probably cause severe if not deadly injures. I currently have no use of my LS middle seat or my third row due to a ratchet strap holding the seat from plunging into my back when I brake. (using the child restraint tether points on the back of the seats). Vehicle is avaliable for inspection if needed.

This Palisade continues to have poor air quality because of an odor coming from the headrests. I have had all 7 replaced in October 2022. The odor was less for a while but has returned, I think, worse than before. This causes respiratory issues including headaches.

Seats problem #81

Just purchased this vehicle yesterday. Took it for a test drive two days earlier and noticed very strong interior odor, such a carpet cleaner or disinfectant, which we assumed was from dealership trying to clean, but other cars we test drove did not have this smell. Both my us and and I came home that afternoon with a strong headache that lasted all night. We assumed it was from stress and car shopping's. We still decided to purchase the car, assuming it was still just a disinfectant and would go away. Brought home, opened all doors and windows and back hatch to air out. Sprayed with natural air freshener all over carpets and floors. After one night of sitting closed inside the garage, opened up the doors to find the smell is getting stronger and more intense. Opened the windows to let air out and sprayed carpets again. Today, an article was released that thousands of other Hyundai Palisade owners are complaining of the same issue, and is tied to the higher end models and nappa leather seat, which we have. We now have learned that Hyundai has been made aware of this issue and are not responding. We are sad to find out that our 1 day old car (to us) has such a widespread problem that we were not aware of and cannot stand. We are concerned about the materials and products used to build this high end vehicle and it's affects on our health. I am very sensitive to smell amd have complained of this awful scent since we first sat in the car. Now that we know this may not be something that will just air out and may be an inherent problem directly from Hyundai, we want action. This may be the real reason why the previous owner turned it in. It is awful and I don't feel comfortable sitting myself or my family in our newly purchased vehicle. We feel Hyundai should replace or repair this problem with a recall!.

This is health concern and I have felt that my bronchial tubes are getting hot and eyes/throat/nose pain after 15 minute driving, then the pain keeps going on for while even after driving. I suspect toxic degassing from seats or interior materials in vehicle, or comes from engine room. This degassing might have been gradually decreased since purchasing this Palisade in April, 2021, however, I am still suffering from respiratory pain when I drive this vehicle. Hyundai service center inspected this Palisade and they told me toxic gas comes from headrests, and offered me to replace headrests. They said a thousands of people complained about this issue already. However, I don't think the toxic gas is from only headrest, but also from the others. They cleaned the headrests, but nothing changed. I conducted inspections personally as follows. 1. Tested indoor air quality in the vehicle by using a sensor from winix 5500-2 air purifier without running engine and with closed all doors/windows/vent. 2. Tested indoor air quality in the vehicle for 10 minutes by using gray wolf advancedsense pro with multiple directsense probes and with closed all doors/windows/vent and running a fan (indoor air circulation) the result from a sensor of winix 5500-2 air purifier showed "bad air quality" at the test number 1 regardless headrests (without headrests). The result from gray wolf advancedsense pro showed hcn 120. 0 micron g/m3, tvoc 1200 ppb, and so2 0. 2 ppm. I believe those values would be increased if measurement time increase. There is no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the issue when they first appear. Every day, I drive this Palisade and I feel pain and hot on my respiratory, even it keeps going on by next day morning. My primary doctor recommended me to report this case to epa or NHTSA.

The middle row bucket seatbelts are installed too low into the recess of the seat making bucking extremely hard, and at times, preventing the seatbelt from clicking into place at all.

Toxic gaseous contaminants,. Dealer under the direct guidance of the Hyundai corporate technical department. Dealer and Hyundai corporation has made numerous attempts to repair the gaseous toxic smell from this vehicle and solutions are not correcting the problem. I must say I am disappointed Hyundai corporation and stivers Hyundai owner and representatives failed to inform us of the ongoing gaseous odor dilemma of the Palisade limited purchased /del dat 11aug2020 'sick house syndrome', nausea, or fatigue from exposure to vocs. Some vocs may even cause cancer with a high exposure concentration. After the vehicle had been closed up for over 24hours we opened the Palisade and received a gaseous chemical odor emanating from all four doors and the rear hatch which was both debilitating and frightening. My wife immediately had an asthmatic attack and caused a headache with both events requiring medication . I personally was choked by the odor and almost vomited . I immediately open all doors and stupidly tried to locate which area of the vehicle the terrible odor came from . It was too strong an odor to detect any one area and it permeated from all the doors and rear hatch. "what I did achieve was enough of the gaseous chemical compound in my mouth's mucous membrane and my airway that my taste and breath had the residual odor for over four hours. This was a frightening experience that we cannot withstand again. My wife certainly cannot withstand life threatening asthmatic attacks caused by our brand new Hyundai vehicle, the Palisade I have is unsafe because Hyundai motor America cannot disclose to me what contaminants are causing this toxic odor. What is it and what level of whatever it is would be poisonous ? technical service bulletin 20-bd-018h is non scientific and non engineered cover up of hazardous health issue to all consumers.

Seats smell absolutely atrocious like garlic breathe, smell irradiates from the seats nappa leather.

Seats problem #87

Noxious smell inside vehicle of garlic or off-gassing of chemicals. The smell is overwhelming and makes it impossible to use the Palisade until you have aired it out completely. Many complaints on this topic on message boards and no resolution for over 6 months. Hyundai won't permit us to return the vehicle and this smell could be connected to poisonous chemicals used in the production of the leather seating. An investigation must be completed as it presents a health and safety hazard.

Wind noise from all windows at speeds above 30mph. Noticed the wind noise on pickup of new car from dealership. Sent in for 2 'fixes' but problem persists. 'walk-in' seat function in 2nd row works but no longer slides forward. All wheel hubs have excessive rust. Mileage when first noticed the rust was about 4000 miles. Rust leaks through the wheel caps.

I purchased a new 2020 Hyundai Palisade sel from quirk Hyundai in bangor maine on 3/06/2020, upon getting it home and using it with my children, we discovered that the walk through shoulder button, if pressed, will still cause the seat to fold and slide forward even with a passenger, and if the vehicle is in motion this function is still enabled. I had my 8 year old triplets in the vehicle on 3/07/2020, and we were driving in town to the local restaurant. Children, being inquisitive, were inspecting every feature of the vehicle within their reach. One pressed the button and we heard the electronic release, unsure of what the sound was at the time, I did an inspection later and realized it was the walk through latch. I then ran a few circumstantial experiments with my adult son to test my concern that this feature might cause harm if activated at the wrong time. My concerns were confirmed with this test. My adult son in the seat, pressed the button while I was driving 5 miles per hour, and then I applied the brakes. In once instance, his seat went full forward and he was forcefully projected into the seat in front of him . I was able to document this and have forwarded the video to Hyundai USA, it is available for viewing on youtube only through the link at https://youtu. Be/a4-msqzb-74.
