Steering problem #1

While vacationing in myrtle beach with my family the vehicle alarmed and then progressed to critical failure of safety functions while traveling at approximately 55mph on Friday April 3, 2026. The vehicle was brought to myrtle beach Hyundai where it was eventually diagnosed and repaired as an alternator issue that I have found to be common with this specific vehicle. The issues I have experienced with this vehicle go far beyond a typical mechanical concern. Over time, the vehicle has exhibited repeated electrical system malfunctions, including: - false blind spot collision warnings when no vehicles are present - intermittent failure of the crash avoidance system - loss of cruise control functionality tied to system faults - a broader electrical failure event that triggered multiple warning systems simultaneously most concerning, these failures have occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating an unpredictable and potentially hazardous driving condition. The loss and unreliability of critical driver-assist and safety systems directly impacts driver awareness and vehicle control, which raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple attempts to have this diagnosed through the dealership network while under warranty, no definitive root cause was identified, and the issue has persisted. This suggests the possibility of a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated component failure. Additionally, I have found that similar complaints involving electrical system irregularities and cascading warning system failures have been reported by other owners of this model, further supporting the concern that this may represent a known or emerging defect pattern. Given these factors, I do not believe this situation should be categorized as routine. Instead, it warrants review under the lens - vehicle safety risk - potential defect trend - failure of critical driver-assistance systems during operation this vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.

Steering problem #2

When moving forward at very slow speed, the steering wheel bounces as if it had been hit by something and we hear a loud "thunk". The whole front end of the car vibrates. This has also happened once while completely stopped at a traffic signal. This has been happening for several months, and we know that others have reported the same problem, but the dealer is unresponsive. We are worried that the steering could fail at speed, and are losing confidence in the car.

Steering problem #3

1/28/2026 son was driving in a parking lot when all of a sudden, with no prior warning signs, the steering wheel locked up and he could not turn. Fortunately he was able to stop the vehicle; otherwise, it would have hit into other cars and he could have been injured. And fortunately this did not take place on a freeway. Hyundai service center located dcts: c168806, c168886, and c240162. Replaced mpds motor and ecu.

Steering problem #4

The vehicle engine shuts off out of nowhere, unable to change/switch between gears for 2-3 minutes after stopping at a red light, stop sign, or during heavy traffic, with no activation of the idle-stop-system before the incident. During the incident, the vehicle's steering was not able to turn. I have to keep my foot on the brake pedal for a while. After the second incident, I managed to drive the vehicle carefully and slowly to the dealership, but I was told there was no problem with the vehicle. So, I requested to take a drive with a mechanic, and the engine shut off in the middle of the street while slowing down for the third time. The dashboard reads "auto stop is off. " shift to p or n and start engine manually. Vehicle still at the dealership for 5 days.

Steering problem #5

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the steering wheel seized. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently while driving 45-55 mph. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon coming to a complete stop, the steering wheel seized. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact resumed driving; however, the vehicle failed to exceed 20 mph and was jumping while experiencing electrical failures. The vehicle was driven to the residence and parked; however, the vehicle failed to lock or to detect the key fob. The contact stated that the vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by a dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

Steering problem #6

At low speed, and today for the first time completed stopped at a stop sign, we here and feel a very loud "thunk" through the steering wheel and coming from under the front end of the vehicle. It's very loud and jerks the steering wheel when it happens, and can be felt through the car seats as well. The whole vehicle seems to shake. This has happened so far approximately ten times, and we are losing confidence in the car's safety. The dealer told us that he had not heard of this problem, but we know that to be untrue, because a simple google search reveals that it is a known issue.

Steering problem #7

The first incident, my SUV failed to start, per roadside assistance, I replaced the battery. No diagnostic testing done. On 12/26/25 my SUV stopped cold while driving. Red battery light and other warning indicators on dashboard lit up. Radio went dead; loss of steering assist; loss of vehicle power; dashboard went black and SUV shut down. It would not start again. Towed to Hyundai for diagnostic test. I leave my home at 4:30 a. M. Every morning driving 30 miles on the beltway to work. Imagine the danger, stopping cold on the beltway, in the dark alone with no power for emergency lights to warn approaching traffic of the danger. I travel with my family in my SUV on the beltway daily. I no longer trust this vehicle, and I’ve requested to be reimbursed; my vehicle is my livelihood and it’s my life and the lives of my family each day that I get into this SUV. SUV is paid off. Rockville Hyundai’s finding was a faulty alternator and battery. The original battery was in the SUV with the first incident, still I’m terrified to drive this SUV. I researched possible causes for my SUV performing in this manner and my research yielded, and I quote:  “electronic troubles with the 2022 Palisade calligraphy often involve dashboard warning lights, driver-assist malfunctions, instrument cluster failures, and even engine shutdowns, frequently linked to issues like a faulty alternator, low battery voltage, or problems with the instrument cluster itself (recalls), with some owners reporting dangerous situations like loss of steering assist or vehicle power loss on the highway. ” on 1/6/26 on the beltway, the battery light and other warning indicators lit up; radio went dead, all warning indicators on the dashboard lit up; experienced loss of steering assist; and the dashboard went black instantly. I reached home, and parked; lights on the dashboard came back on, and I turned the engine off. On 1/7/26 I drove to Hyundai for another diagnostic test. 1/21/26 SUV still in service.

Steering problem #8

2023 Hyundai Palisade VIN [xxx] vehicle rear shock absorbers failed. Steering and drivability adversely impacted. Many many many complaints online document these defective parts and Hyundai's failure to resolve problems and supply properly functioning parts. Hyundai customer service is useless and claims no information on replacement part availability or time. Now that Hyundai has their newest problem of killing babies in their defective third row seats, I would have thought Hyundai would resolve outstanding issues. Nhtsa needs to intervene now. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Steering problem #9

When turning the wheel at low speeds the steering wheel suddenly hits something like a steel wall and sometimes huts the wrist of the driver. It feels like a piece of steel blocking the rotation of the steering wheel. This happens now on a regular basis. Dealership can't remedy the situation and refuses to contact corporate technical dept for a remedy.

Steering problem #10

I was driving slowly, about 5 mph, and was pulling over on a residential street to park on the street, and my Hyundai started shaking…the steering wheel and car were shaking and the brakes weren’t working. I nearly rear ended a car full of people. It did eventually a stop and the whole thing lasted maybe 10 seconds but it was terrifying. I had it towed to the dealership and they can’t seem to duplicate it.

Steering problem #11

We were almost in a major accident with 6 passengers in our 2023 Hyundai Palisade. On Wednesday, oct 1, 2025 we were driving our Palisade to mcdonalds off highway 98 (navarre parkway). Please see pics. When we left mcdonalds we went on a side road to enter highway 98. Now on this side road (see pictures) there is some type of metal grate in between the road. . . Well when we went over the grate approaching the stop sign the Palisade went into an immediate violent shudder and there was no control of the vehicle as it felt it was shut down even though I could tell it was on by the interior lights on the gauges. I had absolutely no control of the vehicle. Yes, I was the one driving. I could not brake and the Palisade continue to roll past the stop sign onto highway 98 with on coming traffic. I couldn't even steer the car because its as though the car had no power. It was totally dead. With my foot pressed hard on the brakes that still did not work I tried to start the car and then it came on. My wife has told me that she experienced this issue at least six times passing this same road and others similar to it. This was the first time I experienced it and we were lucky we were not hit by oncoming traffic. Again, no brakes, no steering control. We were traveling at a slow speed as we were approaching the stop sign on that road with the metal grate, maybe 5 mph or less, but as soon as we went over the grates. . . All control of the Palisade was lost. Please advise us what to do. . . As I said we almost had a major accident with 6 passengers because the Palisade did not function as it was designed to do.

Steering problem #12

I went to stop at an intersection, and the car started vibrating, the antilock blocks engaged, but it would not slow the car down, depressing the brakes further would not cause the car to slow down, and I had to swerve off the road to keep from hitting the car in front of me. The power steering seem to be affected because the steering wheel was vibrating, and it was hard to steer it off the road to prevent a collision. The road was smooth, and there did not seem to be any apparent reason for whatever malfunction was going on.

Steering problem #13

I have a 2024 Palisade, and any small bump, pothole, or lane bump causes my steering wheel to shake uncontrollably. If I go over a speed bump or come down an incline, the brakes make a rumbling sound, and if I try to brake, the brakes stutter and just shake. I’ve almost hit a car in front of me a few times because it didn’t want to stop. This is a very expensive SUV to be having these issues, and it’s a major safety concern.

Steering problem #14

Braking on a low speeds when the road changes from smooth to slightly rough or bumpy the car acts as if abs is kicking on. The stuttering brakes can be felt on the brake pedal and the steering shakes vigorously.

Steering problem #15

The vehicle shakes violently when applying the brakes over any bump or pothole at slow speeds. This also extends the stopping distance for the car. It has no warning lights. This is a brand new car with only 1200 miles. The problem was able to be confirmed by the dealer but no fix yet.

Steering problem #16

Vechicle pulls to the right. This issue was noticed after the right side passenger tire was worn on the outside which normally indicates an alignment issue. Owner replaced all four tires and has a fron end alignment done at the same time. This issue continues and the Hyundai dealer is stating that there is not fix for this issue. Information available online indicates that there is a possible issue where the steering torque needs to be set to zero. This is a safety concern as the vechicle will go off the road.

Steering problem #17

Steering worm gear shaft making noise, through research found this to be an ongoing issue with the Hyundai Palisades. If this fail's it can lead to complete loss of steering control.

Steering problem #18

All the dash light are on, warning signs flash, steering get heavy, speedo not working, signal indicator not working on dash. Not safe. Dealer drove the car and checked everything, could not get the car to do it again. I picked the car up and within 13 miles the dash was lit up like a christmas tree, lots of error messages, steering very heavy07/21/24. 14,500 miles on car.

Steering problem #19

We purchased this car new around June 2023 from a local Hyundai dealer. The car has been regularly maintained (at the dealer) and only has 20,000 miles approximately. In April of this year, my wife was drive on a very busy highway and suddenly all of the warning lights came on the dashboard and the car shuddered to a very rapid stop. She was lucky to pull off the road or it would have been serious. We got it into the dealer and they called a few days later to say it was fixed. Unfortunately, it was not. It happened again on June 20th this year. We had it towed back to the dealer. It has been there since (today is August 5th). They claim they cannot locate the issue and have been working with Hyundai motor to troubleshoot. I filed a complaint with Hyundai (and really no assistance offered). Last week, they told us it was repaired and to come get it. My wife barely made it out of the lot before it did the same and came to a sudden stop. Not sure if this is happening to other Hyundai vehicles but this is certainly a dangerous situation. . . And the fact that they cannot determine the cause or how to fix, we are very concerned.

Steering problem #20

The vehicle pulls to the right at all times, but most significantly at higher speeds. This causes veering and constant correction resulting in driver fatigue. The right sided pull is present with and without lane keeping assistance. This issue has been confirmed by dealership and two alignments have been performed by independent shops without resolution. The vehicle passed certified preowned inspection prior to sale and there are no prior records of pulling right other than abnormal tire wear at ~25,000 with all 4 tires replaced prior to purchase 4/23/25.

Steering problem #21

I was driving not even 5 miles per hour because I was coming to a turn I was making there was bumps in the road I ran over and lost control of the car no steering at all I couldn't stop it felt like I had a blow out and then I stomped on the brake hard and it stopped before it hit the curb with no codes or anything to tell me what happened.

Steering problem #22

When traveling slowly and braking, if you hit a bump the car steering begins to shake wildly that makes you feel you will lose control. You have to bump the brakes to make it stop. Seems like the anti lock brakes kick in when it shouldn’t and because it is the front tires make the car violently shake. Happens intermittently and difficult to reproduce at will. Has happened numerous times. Brought to dealership and because it can’t be reproduced at will they will not investigate the issue. Seems to be only a matter of time this will cause an accident.

Steering problem #23

As the vehicle drove over railroad tracks the steering wheel began to shake violently and I attempted to push the brake pedal with my full body weight but the brakes would not work and the car lunged forward, striking the vehicle in front of me. The failure of the brake system on my 2024 Hyundai Palisade prevented me from stopping the vehicle and thus I impacted the vehicle in front of me putting not only my life in jeopardy but also the driver of the car in front of me. I sustained a neck injury and headaches and have required ongoing medical care as a result. This vibrating steering wheel and braking issue has happened in the past several times and was reported to wiesner Hyundai on several occasions; however, the dealership was not able to recreate the problem. The vehicle has been inspected by the service department at wiesner Hyundai. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problems prior to the failure.

Steering problem #24

SUV pulls to the right in a unsafe manner, dealership did a alignment but the SUV is still pulling to the right , I’ve been in twice and will back to the dealer after starting a claim to hyunida corporate as from my research it’s a common issue hyunida is denying.

Steering problem #25

The steering on the vehicle will stop responding when turning at low speeds. The vehicle will feel like it hits the “bump stop” and then will come back to center. You can then turn past that point. This has almost cause accidents because you cannot effectively steer to avoid obstacles and cannot maneuver effectively at low speeds. It occurred randomly. Was troubleshot at dealership without resolution because they could not replicate the issue. There are no hazard lights indicating an error.

Steering problem #26

The steering wheel locks briefly when the idle stop and go (isg) system restarts the vehicle. This happens intermittently, about 50% of the time. It has affected the ability to steer the vehicle properly when turning at a traffic light after the isg system has initiated an engine shutdown and subsequent restart. This issue has been reported to our local dealership, but the technicians were not able to reproduce the issue. We have also experienced a complete loss of electrical power in the vehicle with the isg system a few times. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently deactivate the isg system; the auto stop button must be pressed every time the vehicle is used to deactivate it for that trip.

Steering problem #27

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel vibrated and was shaking erratically. In addition, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The contact stated that the brake pedal needed to be depressed extremely hard to stop the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred mostly on bumpy roads, regardless of the speed at which the vehicle was being driven. Additionally, the traction control was independently activated. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was returned to the contact; however, the contact stated that the vehicle was a death trap. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe and had to transport her kids back and forth to school in an unsafe vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

Steering problem #28

When ever I hit the breaks in a small bump the vehicle vibrates "steering wheel and the brake pedal" not able to control the vehicle almost bump into the car in front of me. I when to my local dealer for it to be inspected and I show the my dashcam videos and one of the mechanics joined me in a test drive for them to diagnose what's happening the same vibration happened when I brake while passing a small bump and the mechanic saw what happened or how it happened and we went back to the dealership they diagnosed the vehicle but they dont have a solution for what have happened I was just afraid that it could happen anytime with my family in the vehicle cause there is no warning when or when it will happen and I cant just simply avoid small bumps in the road cause it's everywhere.

Steering problem #29

On rainy days, the vehicle will start malfunctioning putting at risk my family's life and others. It appears to be an electrical problem according to dealer. It had 15 codes activated, all dashboard lights were lit and safety messages showed up, while driving. No power steering, emergency brakes were activated, transmission wouldn't change, a/c stopped working, temperature and tachometer were erratic. It is very scary because it happens while driving and an accident is imminent.

Steering problem #30

Hyundai service for malfunction 8-10-24 took new 2024 Palisade to hallmark Hyundai service dept. For issue with handling on 4 different occasions while driving out of a parking garage at centennial medical center in nashville TN, going approximately 5 mph or so, the front wheels started moving back and forth very violently. Steering wheel shaking with violent wheel movement. I held the steering wheel firmly and slammed the brakes. Shaking stopped. This happened on 3 different occasions. The forth occasion happened while pulling into a parking area at centennial park, nashville TN. I hit a small pot hole and the same activity occurred while driving 10-15mph. I held the steering wheel firmly and firmly applied the brakes to make it stop the shaking. Reported the incident to hallmark Hyundai on 8-7-24. Nicole set me an appointment for 8-10-24 at 8am for immediate inspection and to make sure everything was still “tight”. After meeting with the technician, her immediate comment was that this is called a “death wobble”. They ran a full diagnostic and found no codes. They want me to bring the vehicle back and keep it and perform tests and more inspection for this may be the first report of such dangerous activity. They think it could be the driving assist system, abs, suspension issues, etc. ??? the technician stated that the “death wobble” happened to her once while traveling at a speed of 60mph. I asked if this could happen at any traveling speed, the answer was yes!!!!.

Steering problem #31

Approximately 4 months after purchasing our 2024 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy we started experiencing a serious steering issue. When driving slow while making turns, either right or left whether going forward or reverse the steering wheel intermittently abruptly stops mid turn and locks with a big bang. It forces me to apply the breaks because I cannot complete the turn. After about 10-15 secs the steering wheel releases with a loud pop, and spins the opposite direction in which I’m trying to turn, leaving the wheels one way and the steering the other. At that point I’m able to regain control of the steering wheel and continue my turn and start driving but on many occasions it has caused me to almost be t-boned by other vehicles when this happens at an intersection or or hit from behind. We have taken the vehicle to 3 different Hyundai service centers in 2 different states in the last 23 months. All claim they’re not able to replicate the issue and to bring it back if it continues which we have. It’s currently in service and has been for 2 1/2 weeks. They informed me that they plan on replacing the steering column but it’s unknown if this will fix the issue. I may still have the same issues which will further put my family at risk of harm or death if it continues and we are hit.

Steering problem #32

On Friday 6/28/24 I turned my vehicle on to drive to lunch. I put the vehicle in drive and started to move forward out of my parking spot when the following errors flashed on my dashboard in succession: "check forward collision-avoidance assist system", "check lane departure warning (ldw) system", and "check high beam assist system" and then the steering wheel locked while the vehicle was still moving forward. I put the vehicle in park, turned it off, turned it back on and there were no problems. On Saturday 6/29/24, the same series of events happened in the evening when turning the vehicle on from park. On Sunday 6/30/24 I turned the vehicle on in the morning and backed out of my driveway. When I put it in drive and started going down the road the same series of events happened again. This time, it did not resolved when I turned the vehicle off then back on, but happened 7-8 times in succession. The vehicle was not driven all day and when I turned it back on Sunday evening it seemed fine. I drove across town to meet a friend, put the vehicle in park to wait, then in drive (so it had been running for approx 30 minutes) and the issue happened again. On Monday 7/1/24 I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and the issue happened to the tow truck driver as he was getting the vehicle off of the truck. On Friday 7/5/24 I called the dealership and they have "verified my concern" but are not sure why it is happening. I am now waiting to hear back from them on this issue. I have read on an online forum that multiple people have had this same issue with the Palisade.

Steering problem #33

At a low speed coming to a stop sign on an uneven paved road the steering wheel shook and the brake pedal pulsed. I was unable to stop the vehicle in a timely manner. The outside conditions were normal and the pavement was dry. Luckily there was not a vehicle or pedestrian in front of me or I likely would have ran into them. It scared me and my daughter that was in the car with me.

Steering problem #34

In June of 2024, my Hyundai Palisade started shuddering every time I shifted from 20mph to 30mph. Twice the car shuddered and stopped at intersections and had to be shut off and restarted. I then received an engine light on my dashboard. I dropped off at safford Hyundai in June and after evaluation by mechanic was told several components should be changed. 1)replace three ignition coils 2)replace three injector gaskets 3)replace all 6 spark plugs 4)perform fuel injector cleaning service. Total cost was $2,875. 95. I was told the repair would take 1 day but received the car after 5 days and that too after many calls and emails. On the day we received the car, we had to drive long distance for our summer vacation. Within a few miles of our summer vacation, the car started shuddering again. This problem was supposed to be solved by the repairs that had just been done. I immediately informed safford Hyundai. When we got back from vacation, I took the car to a nearby well know mechanic and he immediately said that was a transmission issue and should have been covered by Hyundai warranty. I went back to safford Hyundai dealership and that is when they said indeed it was a transmission issue and was covered by warranty. This was on 8/7. Unfortunately because of the huge backlog of Hyundai transmission issues, I was told I wouldn’t receive my new transmission for 1 to 2 months. I contacted Hyundai corporate and pushed to get my car back. I was told they would expedite my transmission and was told to pick up the car on 8/30. I went to pick up the car and immediately noticed that the steering wheel sounded like it was being sandpapered every time I turned. My car steering wheel turned smoothly prior to the whole transmission change. I literally made a circle around the service center and turned my car in back for repair. I was told to leave my car at the Hyundai dealership and they would get back to me. My car is still in repair. Email several times.

Steering problem #35

Steering does a loud thud as if you have hit a curb when you are starting to move the car when auto start stop is engaged. Does not do it when at speed but does it on every signal stop and go making a turn.

Steering problem #36

Steering locked up while 5 items came across dashboard triggering the red triangle with exclamation! in it. Stopped car shut off for a couple minutes and it seemed to reset but in the last 10 miles driving has happened 5 times 4 driving and 1 on start up and could not get out of parking spot. Each time shut car off and able to reset. Have an appointment on may 28 with dealer. Forum info says corporate has found this this to be loose ground wire. Repair requires removing dashboard. Giving dealership a shot to straighten out. If is there a repeat will be initiating a claim under lemon law.

Steering problem #37

My brakes stop working anytime I drive over lose gravel and brake or over speed bumps. It will vibrate. And skid. I have taken it in 5 times and they said it’s normal I owned 5 cars and none of them are like this.

Steering problem #38

I was driving down a road with 50mph speed limit when a few of my dash lights began to come on and then go off. Then about 2minutes later, all the dash lights came on, my display screen went black, my power steering wheel froze up. I safely pulled over to a parking lot. Turned the car off. And it wouldn't start back up. I took it to the jim click Hyundai in tucson to get it diagnosed. The alternator was diagnosed as faulty, therefore killing my battery. This is an extremely unsafe circumstance for my 2 year old car to be going through. I cannot believe that this happend. I had to pay for a new battery at the dealership. Now not even 2 months later. . . My car wouldn't start. I waited 10minutes, it turned on, but it looked like it did a factory reset. I will be contacting the dealership. . . Again. But this must be looked into further. I can't believe a 2 year old car would be having these types of problems.

Steering problem #39

There is a whining noise in the steering system when turning the wheel at slow speeds.

Steering problem #40

Steering drifts to right. 2 wheel alignments have been done. Alignment checked a 3rd time, showed correct alignment. Steering motor torque input reset. Vehicle drove fine for a few hours but started drifting again to the right.

Steering problem #41

Rear self leveling shocks need to be replaced for the third time in two years.

Steering problem #42

I like how Tesla has created an audible and visual clue to know when the assistive functions enable, engage and they disengage. With this Hyundai, there is a steering icon, that lights up in the instrument cluster, that we should search to confirm its engaged, and then when it disengages, it just disappears without any warining or notification that the driver is in control.

Steering problem #43

Car brakes try to lock when going over certain potholes or speed bumps and brakes seem faulty.

Steering problem #44

When driving along, and trying to turn the steering wheel, the wheel locks up and won't allow it to be turned. It's almost like the steering wheel has been hydraulically blocked. It has happened numerous times over the past 2-3 months. Usually, at slower speeds or coming out of a stop light on surface roads.

Steering problem #45

The steering wheel on the vehicle would immediately rotate about 10 degrees to the right after starting the vehicle. The steering wheel would then remain in this cocked right position. When driving, the car would pull very hard to the right when letting go of the steering wheel, even following an alignment. This also resulted in the steering wheel being very difficult to turn to the left vs the right. Additionally, this would cause the vehicle to track dangerously close to the right lane lines on the highway when using the lane keep assist feature and forced the driver to consistently pull the steering wheel to the left to track the vehicle straight. I took it to an independent service center for alignment which didn’t correct the issue. I then took it to my local Hyundai dealership for rectification. They recalibrated the steering angle sensor and torque sensor. This corrected the cocked right position of the steering wheel. It improved but did not fully get rid of the right pull and difficulty in turning the steering wheel to the left. I was forced to pay $195 for the steering calibration on a certified pre owned vehicle with just over 10,000 miles on it.

Steering problem #46

9/13/23 - I was turning left from a stop and my steering wheel abruptly stopped (wouldn't turn) and made a very loud noise. It released when I tried again. Didn't happen again for a couple weeks. This went on and on (seldom reoccurring). Then it happened like 3 times in two days and I got concerned. November 2023 - I called the tire place because I had just had tire replaced right before this started. The mechanic was able to recreate it and told me it was an electric rack and pinion malfunction and part is about $1,600 and labor about $450. I told him I would call Hyundai since it should be under warranty. Hyundai told me to bring it in. I brought it in on 11/30/23. They said they couldn't recreate it and had me pick it up. 12/4/23 - I drove to san diego for work. Noise still happening more common now and steering stops. Now having other issues too (with malfunction of emergency braking system - reported separately). 12/11/23 - took car back to Hyundai. They said they can't recreate either issue and sent me home with no fix again. 1/18/24 - found the exact same issue reported on the Hyundai forum online. It stated exactly how to recreate (said it occurs when turning left when the eco mode has turned your car off and it starts up again when taking foot off gas and turning left concurrently). I called jj (manager at Hyundai) back. I emailed him the forum emails and told him that I was able to recreate with this. He told me to bring it back in 1/23/24 - dropped car off at Hyundai again. Got call that they can't recreate again and want me to come pick up car. Told him I was concerned for safety (16 year old son now driving). Transferred me to manager and left message. Waiting on call back.

Steering problem #47

In sept. Of 2023 I had my routine maintenance on my vehicle, oil change. At tempe auto nation Hyundai. My drivers side 3rd row headrest was not staying up and needed to be replaced. I also mentioned to my extremely rude service agent jake that my vehicle also had oil dripping coming from under the rear. I allowed him to do the oil change but not the headrest. I transferred location to have my vehicle serviced to camelback Hyundai. My headrest was replaced by camelback Hyundai. I also mention the oil leak to my service rep. Steve. I was also told that the vehicle was given an inspection. That I would need tires soon. My vehicle didn’t have 25000 miles on it. I purchased the vehicle new. It was also pulling to the right. The pulling was so bad I purchase 4 new tires. Costing over $700. The next day I took the vehicle to get an alignment, only to find out that my shocks/ struts are completely bad and needed to be replaced. I researched the issue with my Hyundai Palisade to see if there had been any recalls. It appears Hyundai is aware of the issue with the defective shocks. I am very disappointed and angry in the amount of time and money this has cost me because of an issue that the Hyundai corporation knew was occurring. They knew there was an issue with the headrest and also the shocks. Due to the defective shocks, I had to pay for new tires and alignment for a fairly new vehicle that had not reached 25000 miles and still under warranty. I would not have needed new tires so soon an alignment if Hyundai would have corrected the defective shocks.

Steering problem #48

On August 4th 2023 we drove from home in cedar rapids to our daughter’s in cottage grove wisconsin for a family event. Nearing madison, somewhere in the area of verona the battery warning symbol came on in the instrument display. It was intermittent and we continued our journey to our daughter’s house in cottage grove. We called aaa and a “tow” truck came. The driver made a visual assessment of the condition of the battery and terminals and serpentine belt and looked at our multimeter readings of battery voltage. The alternator did cut in and the battery voltage went up. He advised that we continue driving it. It made a couple of two-mile trips to and from our hotel in cottage grove, with no display of the battery warning icon on the instrument display. On Sunday August 6 2023 we set off for home. The battery icon was not displayed. About 15 miles from departure while we were on the madison beltline highway the following occurred without warning: •the central navigation display went blank •a number of different warnings came up on the instrument display •power steering was lost •the emergency warning flashers and the direction indicators wouldn’t work •a lot of warning icons were displayed on the instrument display this was absolutely unacceptable and life shorteningly frightening. I won’t use curse words or s**t here but use your imagination. We were able to get to the hard shoulder without crashing. Surprisingly the engine was still running and we were very close to an exit (fish hatchery road) so we were able to limp and wrestle it to a business’ parking area.

Steering problem #49

The steering wheel clunks and locks when turning at low speeds or when isg turns the car back on. At times, it is a hard enough jerk to pull it out of my hands. It was taken to the dealership multiple times. The coupler was replaced, but it still jerked the steering wheel. The dealership in utah could not replicate the sound, even though it occurs multiple times a day at this point. Loss of the ability to steer after sitting at a light poses a huge safety issue between not being able to immediately navigate upon accelerating or when turning left at an intersection.

Steering problem #50

I was just turning right from a stoplight into a store parking lot when I lost power steering & my brakes were ‘difficult’ to push down. I barely got it out of the way of traffic and I turned the car off, got out, opened and closed my door, and got back in and it started back up and drove to the parking spot like nothing had happened. Sensors reset to 0. It happened again 2 stops away while in a drive through. I did the same thing and it started back up ok. It would do this every 2-3 days for 2 weeks. Finally it did it one day, 5-6 times. The day I called the dealership & said that I was afraid my 2023 Palisade was going to literally get me killed on the highway was when the manager was able to get me a loaner vehicle to drive. It’s been in the dealership for over a week. I saw the recall about the loss of power brake assist online and thought this may pertain to my Palisade.

Steering problem #51

Was (thankfully) driving on a completely straight 2 lane highway when the collision avoidance system gave an error message to check it. My steering wheel became completely immobilized and couldn't be turned in either direction more than an inch or so. I eventually pulled off to the side of the road and restarted the car, which fixed the problem. I have since set the memory settings for drivers 1 and 2 to omit using all of the lane minder/collision avoidance features in the hope that if they are just off entirely, the system won't malfunction and cause a wreck. Don't know what I would have done if we were on a curvy road with no breakdown lane nearby or if we were on the interstate.

Steering problem #52

The vehicle accelerated 4 times on its own to the point where I got scared. In addition, it shakes so bad between speeds changes. At first, I thought I got hit by another vehicle from the back. Moreover, over the past two (2) months, the steering wheel has been making some noise as if a plastic bag was being moved. I hope this description makes a sense in regard to the steering wheel situation.

Steering problem #53

When the steering wheel is turned completely to one side or the other there is a loud thud and the steering wheel "bucks". It has momentarily locked once. This is dangerous when driving. The Hyundai service center verified the issue. Advised not to turn the wheel all the way over and to disengage the auto engine idle. They said it was due to voltage issue. A copy of the service report is attached.

Steering problem #54

Auto-off reengaging makes the steering wheel jerk abruptly to the side and creates loud thinking noise which is startling to the driver. I was able to replicate at the dealer and have it on video. Dealer reports this is normal for the vehicle and they are unable to rectify.

Steering problem #55

The problem I am experiencing with my 2023 Hyundai Palisade is that the vehicle consistently drifts or steers towards the right side while driving. This occurs even when I attempt to keep the steering wheel straight and maintain a straight-line path on the road.

Steering problem #56

I was in an accident on i95. The steering wheel locked causing me to hydroplane and hit ropes and car landed in the middle of 95. No airbags deployed during collision causing head to bump and back injuries. Police report is inaccurate. He asked me how fast I was going and I gave him the speed limit. I wasn't looking at my speed odometer my eyes were on the road. When I came to my self because I told him I hit my head. I distinctly remember the steering wheel locked before gliding. It happened so fast.

Steering problem #57

Turned into a parking spot , my Palisade immediately jumped forward accelerating on its own it began driving by itself, bouncing off of one vehichle to another and pushing the car in front of me backwards then sideways. I had no control over this car. I did not have my foot on the gas as I checked . I finally hit the park light and the car stopped. I need something done ASAP as I need a vehichle. My car as towed to the dealershipon Sunday this is now Thursday Hyundai is supposed to be in touch but I have not heard anything.

Steering problem #58

I was driving out of my subdivision when the follow lane assist warning light came on. My steering wheel immediately became difficult to steer. Very difficult. I was able to make it back into my subdivision. I turned off the car and the warning lights went off. This was terrifying. I can't imagine if I had been on the highway or interstate when this happened. The dealership is telling me not to drive my car if I don't feel. Safe but they can't look at it until the end of September 2022. I just purchased this car in April. Im terrified of this happening again. Also, my windshield wipers are coming on on auto without rain or moisture on the windshield. Don't know if the two are related.

Steering problem #59

I have only had this car for 1. 5 years and about 6months ago I keep hearing a thump from rear suspension then the alignment started going off pulling to the right. Take it to tire kingdom to be aligned and they told me the shocks are leaking. Go to dealer and they took one week to say one shock is bad but part will take another week to get here I tried to get them to change both as the TSB I found 22-ss-001h but they refuse and will only change one. How can I get them to follow this TSB? as at the moment the car dose not feel safe to drive and I shoul not be responsible for this issue of changing both shocks properly. Dealers should not be able to fight things like this as they avoiusly know thers issues but they won't honor it. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I may have to get lawyers involved. Thank you for you time.

Steering problem #60

Car purchased on 07 June 2022. Car with the dealership service since 14 June 2022 steering stiffness to the left. Car dragging to the right. My left arm is sore and had aches in the joints due to the extra pressure in balancing the steering. Hyundai is aware of the issue but has no solutions to it. This is a serious safety risk.

Steering problem #61

The car pulls to the right and it is hard to steer left. At speeds higher than 50mph the steering wheels vibrates when turning left to correct the veering. The lane departure and lane keeping assist to not operate correctly because the car veers to the right. I have had the car serviced twice within one week of purchasing and there is no fix from the dealer nor Hyundai. This issue was apparent within minutes of first driving the car, there are no warning lights. The alignment is out of spec but cannot be corrected by the dealer. The cause is reported as an issue with the steering angle sensor.

Steering problem #62

Our vehicle was purchased and taken home on 04/29/2022. On 05/06/23 we took the care in for an alignment issue, as the car drives right off the road, to the right. Dealership said it was off, at 200 miles only. They realigned and gave it back. It happens again, right after leaving the dealership. Car was taken back again on 05/06/22 for realignment yet again. Dealership rotated tires and realigned. This did not work again. So the third time, 06/23/22 we received another rotate and realignment. Again, this did not help, and a new front strut was ordered. The would drive right off the road, to the right, every time. Creating a major safety issue for our two toddlers, and family. The front strut was installed on 10/12/22. The dealership has been frustrated due to not being able to fix the alignment. Mind you, brand new car, 2022 Palisade. Front strut put on, but the vehicle is veering right again. Even the driver who picked the car up said he noticed the problem. Cooperate said we must get a second opinion from a Hyundai dealership before they can intervene. We have taken this brand new car to the same dealer at 200 miles, 1,000 miles, 5,000 miles and most recently for the strut. We’re going to get into an accident and Hyundai beats around the bush.

Steering problem #63

Car pulls to right, and steering wheel is harder to steer/turn left to correct the pulling, causing strain on driver.

Steering problem #64

The roads were icy and my son pulled over to wait out the storm. Our car was parked. Another car slid on the ice and stuck our Hyundai Palisade in the rear. It was a minor impact, no airbags deployed and nobody was injured. The steering column sheered off and the steering wheel was cut loose from the column. Hyundai has an open recall campaign on a similar model (NHTSA campaign #18v118000) for this exact problem of steering wheels sheering from the column. Hyundai sent an investigator to check the car and reports to me that there is no defect with my car. The insurance company is planning to repair the car, including the steering assembly, and return it to me. It is hard to believe that this incident, which occurred on a car built just a few months after the models that were recalled, could be a coincidence. There was no prior warning. The car is now at body repair shop and is available for inspection.

Steering problem #65

The steering wheel leather on my car has started cracking.

Steering problem #66

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking and it was hard to keep the steering straight. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 250.

Steering problem #67

Main issue: power steering failed twice within a couple hours. Vehicle is available for inspection. Not being able to steer the vehicle increases the risk of a crash. Yes, the issue was reproduced by the service manager at a nearby Hyundai dealership. Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance rep. There were warning messages that appeared when the steering went out.

Steering problem #68

Steering wheel makes whirring sound when turned. Service department aknowledged the problem and replaced the worm gear in the steering shaft. Issue went away. Now about 5000 miles since repair the same issue is back.

Steering problem #69

The car was keeping the car centered in lane. There was a very slight curve to the lane. The car did not respond quickly. When the car was violating the opposite edge of the lane it over corrected to get centered. Then it violated the other edge and over corrected even more. The car was oscillating out of lane on both sides before I could regain control.

Steering problem #70

My vehicle has what appears to be a major alignment issue. When driving on almost any straight stretch of road the vehicle pulls/veers to the right. Dealer says this is as designed from Hyundai and that they have checked "everything". I am baffled that any car can be "designed" to not drive straight. They claim all Hyundai vehicles are "designed" to pull to the right. One the test drive with the service manager, driving 50 - 60 mph, my vehicle drifted 1 and a half lanes to the right on its own. Under acceleration it veered 3 lanes to the right. This was in a matter of 6 or 7 seconds. This happens on almost all roads and interstates, not just some. The dealer says there is nothing to repair and this is "normal" and to take it up with the manufacturer. I can provide video of the issue.

Steering problem #71

Less than 2 months into a brand new vehicle, the windshield cracked during a rainstorm on the highway along the line of the wipers. Nothing hit the windshield other than rain. The dealer is making us pay out of pocket for recalibration and tinting, despite the fact we have insurance. Safelite is replacing the windshield. It took 3 weeks to get the windshield. Also, the steering motor had to be replaced in less than 2 months.

Steering problem #72

'check blind spot collison warning system' error message appears every trip after 10-15 minutes. My Palisade also steers toward the center lane and does not stay in the middle of the lane as intended. I feel very unsafe being so close to oncoming traffic, and it causes arm fatigue to keep steering away from the center. Finally, there is a great deal of wind noise coming through the driver's side window/door as I drive at medium to high speeds.
