A week ago my passanger side sun visor fell down and today the driver's side sun visor fell down while I was driving! really scary, but grateful I was not going fast. There should be a recall on this!.
The gas pedal stuck at 70mph and could not be disengaged. Use of hard braking and emergency brake did not slow the vehicle down. Was rapidly approaching stopped vehicles on interstate and to avoid a rear end collision, drove onto emergency parking lane and was able to finally get it unstuck. This has happened several times but could immediately unfreeze the pedal but this time nothing worked. The car has been taken to the dealership for a full investigation. I notified my parents who instructed that should this happen again to place the car in neutral and pull of to the side of the road and as I enter the emergency lane to turn off the engine and to expect hard steering once the engine was turned off.
When lowering the driver side sun visor to block sunlight from my eyes, the visor snapped at the arm and fell in front of my line of sight as I was driving down the highway at 65 mph. I was fortunate enough to not have an accident. My safety, along with the safety of others, was compromised when the visor broke and blocked my view. Upon searching for options on how to fix this problem, I came across numerous forums and websites stating that this is a very common problem among the Hyundai cars and suvs.
The passenger side sunvisor broke causing the sunvisor to fall off and block vision. One year earlier the driver side broke. This is a safety issue as visor can break while driving and obstruct vision. The plastic clip on the pivot breaks causing the failure. The visor will hang by the electrical cord and can not be removed unless you unscrew and dismantle the entire housing assembly-which isn't possible to do while driving. You will get stuck holding the visor out of view until you can pull over and either rig it back up temporarily or get lucky enough to have some screwdrivers with you to fix it.
Driver side sun visor mount failed unexpectedly, causing the sun visor to fall down and dangle in front of the driver by the electric wire that runs inside the hinge. The visor dangled in front of the driver blocking the view, and startling the driver. Had to disassemble the visor hinge to remove the visor before the vehicle could be safely driven. Upon inspection it is clear that the visor hinge / ball joint is poorly designed, with a plastic tube less than 0. 5mm thick holding the entire visor and forces while it is manipulated by the driver. It is a matter of time before they all fail. While passenger side failure is less dangerous, driver side is very dangerous and startling if occurs while driving. A google search demonstrated this to be a common problem experienced by many Hyundai owners of various models. This is a defective part design, and vehicles should be recalled so manufacturer can replace the visors with better designed versions.
While driving down the highway, my driver's side sun visor fell from the ceiling and was dangling by the electrical wire which controls the automatic light when the visor is opened. This not only obstructed my view, but also caused a knee-jerk reaction to brake as the visor swung toward my face. Upon inspection, the plastic joint which holds the visor in place had failed. The visor had fallen despite the fact that I was not adjusting it at the time, and there were no significant bumps or hazards in the road which may have jarred it loose.
When pulling out of my driveway and travelling up the residential street, the driver side sun visor fell out of the rooftop and hit me in the head. It appears broken and I can not re-insert it without it falling out again. I rarely use the visor, and it fell out without my attempting to lower it. It appears many are having this problem with the 2007 Santa Fe. If Hyundai won't recognize the issue, fine. I'm still working on a solution to prevent the visor from hitting me in the head while I'm driving and then dangling in front of me and blocking my vision. The front left tie rod needed to be replaced a few months ago. I couldn't understand why the dealer did not recognize this problem a year ago when the warranty was still active. The mechanic who eventually replaced the tie rod told me he thinks this issue was long-standing, and perhaps existed when I purchased the vehicle. Dealer cost to repair: $700+. My mechanic repaired for $180 (including front-end alignment. Now my brakes are squealing, and the pads are fine. My mechanic took photos of rust on the rotors. He is amazed at the number of problems I am having with a car @ 16,000 miles. I think I bought a piece of junk without knowing it.
Faulty fuel gage. The fuel gage will register empty and the fuel light will come on after filling up the tank. The gage will waver and give faulty registers while driving, even climbing back to full after registering "empty" seconds before.
My veh had an oil leak we noticed in June of 2013. We took it to a certified Hyundai dealership with a warranty the veh still had and had both valve cover gaskets replaced and the oil pan was also leaking. A year later June 20, 2014 when I was parked at a friends house we noticed oil on her driveway. I guess the veh was leaking oil again, I just didn't notice since our garage is stained with oil. I took it back and was told both valve cover gaskets and the oil pan were all leaking again, however the dealership would not cover the repair since it was just over a year. Seems like an odd problem to have the exact same leak in 1 year. Either there is a flaw in this year Santa Fe or gurly leep in mishawaka did not do a proper fix on my veh. I have seen several forums for these 07 Santa Fe's with the same type of leak that occurred more than once. Because of this oil leak, my alternator has gone out this morning, the dealership said it went bad from being saturated with oil. Another issue is the fuel sensor went out which now the truck doesn't register any gas in the veh. This is another common complant I am finding on forums for this 07 Santa Fe. I am starting to wonder if these items should be in some sort of a recall.
The nut that holds one of the rear lift gate struts to the body of the car came loose and we believe dropped down behind the body liner and possibly one of the rear air bags. Anyway, this allowed the rear lift gate to drop as it was only now being held up by one strut. The Hyundai dealership told us it would require removing the body liner and air bag to get into where the nut "may" have dropped to in order to secure it and re-attach it to the body of car, at a cost of $600. Since our car was out of warranty Hyundai did not feel they should pay for it, we content that this was a structural defect and has nothing to do with mileage, wear or tear on the vehicle, which by the way is in excellent condition. The dealership claims they never saw the vehicle and they never wrote any service report on it. We took the car to a local repair shop first but they said there was no way they could get into the area and did not want to try working around the air bag. Hyundai has established a case # 4999075, and after our initial e-mails, we called them and they were to get back to us with further update, but we have not heard another word from them and our first contact with them was almost four months ago. We just today sent another e-mail to their customer connect center to see if we can't get some resolution from them, at no cost to us as consumers. The dealership said they had never seen this happen before and it is a dangerous safety hazard, the lift gate will not stay up with only one strut and we must use a piece of lumber to hold the lift gate up so we can use the rear storage area. All it would take is for that piece of wood to fall out and down would come the gate with some force, but there is no other feasible way to repair the structure without a sizeable expense on our part which we do not feel is justified.
The driver side sunvisor broke causing the sunvisor to fall off and block vision. One year later the passenger side broke and fell while driving. This is a safety issue as visor can break while driving and obstruct vision. The plastic clip on the pivot breaks causing the failure. While driving on a two lane road and into the setting sun, the drivers side visor fell loose. It fell directly into the drivers field of vision and had to be held up with one hand as it was dangling by wires. This incident highly startled the driver and totally obstructed vision. Shortly thereafter the passenger side sun visor also fell. The local dealer said they would be happy to fix them both for $400. They were not fixed. This is an extremely dangerous equipment failure that needs to be addressed before a crash.
The passenger side sun visor suddenly dislodged from its pivot point and fell to the dashboard. I had it repaired at that time. Last week (11/07/2014) the exact same thing happened to the driver's side sun visor. I was travelling at 65 mph on the highway and it collapsed in front of me completely blocking my vision. I nearly drove off the highway since I could not see. It seems to me that this part must be defective but the dealer tells me as far as he knows I'm the only customer who has experienced this problem. I've heard that the same year Hyundai sonata has been recalled for a similar problem, and I don't know why the Santa Fe has not been included.
At approximately 90000 miles, the passenger side sun visor would no longer stay "up". It began hanging down, with the wires exposed. We did not take it to a dealer, but removed the visor. Now, at 150000 miles, the drivers side visor did the same thing while driving, impairing the driver's visibility. I had to hold it up out my view until I arrived home.
While waiting to cross a railroad crossing the two cars ahead of me started moving. The first car suddenly stopped causing the 2nd car to hit it. I slammed on my brakes but my car surged ahead into the car in front of me causing much damage of that car and considerable damage, (undrivable) to my car. Police were called and a report take,. I srepped on my brakes hard yet I surged forward very fast. About three months earlier I experienced the same problem comming out of a store parking lot onto a busy road. I applied my brake only to have the car keep going forward almost entering on coming traffic. I could only assume when I applied the brake my food hit the accelerator on the down push. I feel the same thing happened during the Aug. 4, 2011 accident. I wonder if there have been other incidents like this, I wear a size 11 eee shoe which is petty wide, the only reason I could see for hitting both the brake and accelerator.
Sudden unintended acceleration 2007 Santa Fe Hyundai - 2nd time around. . This time on a private road car engine revved up , all brake systems failed, could not shift into neutral - mechanism would not move, had to hold on the stirring wheel and ride it out. ; saw main thoroughfare coming up swerved into gas station; saw wall had thought to swerve into street; would have toppled vehicle saw small park went across thoroughfare unto park area; understood car was airborne and when it hit the ground went on two wheels on the right hand side and then came down unto the 4; stirred strait into clearing between trees; sampling and dirt stopped vehicle. 1 passenger contests he has slight fracture on skull; the near fatality might have been to a plausible number of children, parents, adults , cars and tractor trailers on main road. This could have been . The after result is the nervousness that rides in one's soul when on the road. Had over 20 witnesses to this event. This is an ongoing epidemic,my case has been ingnored and other cases have been ignored isn't it time that this is reviewed before real fatalities become actualized. Thank you.
Three major complaints. At 18,000 miles the top seal of the engine had to be replaced, repaired under warranty. At 21,000 mile the rear brake calipers had to be repaired for sticking and pads replaced at owners expense. Owner told by dealership the cause was "probably from salt used to treat road surfaces during snow removal". Hyundai refused warranty claim and would not admit improper materials used for braking system. At 27,000 miles, multiple visits to dealership for repair of inoperating turn signals. Parts replaced in attempt to repair include electrical box in steering column, all bulbs, flasher unit, grounding points for system. Problem recurring and dangerous.
I have a recall on my vehicle that has not been completed yet on the trailer hitch, and since I had the vehicle and started driving it I have told the car dealer several times that the tpms that the icon has been on and even having it looked at several times it won't stay off when I drive I get weird pulling even after having an alignment done. I travel frequently and need to know is this something to worry about! I did check the VIN it only shows the recall for the the recall incomplete for the trailer hitch wiring recall number 085 NHTSA number 08e055000, VIN number 5nmsh13e47h052806! can someone please contact me on what to do about this at 3524155858 I leased this vehicle in February they didn't let me know about the recall but since there was a recall on my daughter vehicle when she checked I check for mine as well.
I have also had this problem on my 2007 Santa Fe limited (the airbag indicator and the alarm sounding for no reason at the same time). They both started happening at the same time. I have the airbag indicator illuminated in the lower right hand corner of the dashboard control panel. I took it to the dealership on this past Monday (23 June 2008) and they were able to see the error code. But could not determine what the actual problem is. So they cleared the error code, changed the oil, and washed it. The dealership told me to come back if it happens again. The funny thing about this problem is that it comes and goes. As I was driving to the dealership, the indicator went off. But once I got to the dealership and they went to check it, it came back on and stayed on. Well, it happened again the very next day. I called the dealership and they have instructed me to bring it in because this should not be happening. They have offered to put me in a loaner car while they investigate what is going on with my truck. Oh I forgot to tell you what happened after they cleared the code. After they cleared the code on the 23rd, the alarm does not sound when you press the control button twice. They disarmed something on the other day. Im thinking that they should do a whole system reset or something. I will keep you posted on what they find during my visit this evening or whenever my truck is returned to me. Heres the trick to the sounding alarm problem that I figured out. 1. Arm the alarm. 2. Wait for the 30 secs for it to sound. 3. Disarm the alarm. 4. Arm the alarm. 5. All is well at this point with the alarm. I have found this to work for me. But it is a pain if you ask me. However, until there is a fix for it, this is a solution that works.
- the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. He received recall number 08e016000. He contacted the local Hyundai dealer to schedule repair and the dealer advised him that they did not have the part available and that they don't know when they will receive the part. He then contacted the Hyundai customer service line and was told that it was not a recall but rater a campaign and that they are not aware of any recalls. They added that the repair was not a safety issue so they would not expedite the part. The contact feels that he is not being serviced of this safety issue. There are no failures at this time. The failure mileage was 8,500 and the current mileage was 8,500. Updated 04/16/08 updated 04/16/08.
