Equipment problem #1

On my vehicle I’ve had to have the horn replaced at least three times. Paying about $500 for the last two instances. While there is no formal federal recall for the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe horn specifically, it is affected by a widespread, known issue where water intrusion corrodes the horn's electrical contacts, leading to failure. Hyundai has addressed this with an extended warranty or service campaign in some regions to replace the horn. Saying this my VIN # is not included in this but I can’t understand why.

Equipment problem #2

The car was purchased new on June 30, 2021. On January 25, 2024 at 38,347 miles the horns failed to work and were replaced under warranty. About a week ago (c. January 24,2026) the horns again failed. The dealer was called and I was told that there was no recall on the horns and I would have to pay around $91 for the horns plus labor. The service manager told me that this is a common problem that has to do with where the horns are mounted on the vehicle. They are behind the front bumper and exposed to the elements. I feel that this is a serious design flaw and a safety issue that should be addressed by the manufacturer. There should be a recall instead of customers buying new horns every two years. Had the horns failure occurred during an emergency situation it could have resulted in an accident and possible loss of life.

Equipment problem #3

My windshield is the problem. My granddaughter drives with me often and afraid the glass will shatter. Yes, the corporate office for Hyundai. No, this was done while driving, all occasions.

Equipment problem #4

Engine control harness with under fuse box due to melted fuse box. This caused my blower motor and relay to go bad. No air flow currently in car due to control harness. Dealership stated that there has been several sante fe that has came in this year with the same issue.

Equipment problem #5

I have had the horn in my 2022 Santa Fe replaced 3 times over the course of 3 years, and now it doesn't work again. I realized the newest horn is not working when a truck almost backed into me yesterday and I had no way to warn them to stop backing up.

Equipment problem #6

The cars horn has been replaced 3 times in the last 3 years and it stopped working again. The horn last about 1 year, this is 2022 Santa Fe,.

Equipment problem #7

I purchased my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid brand new and in three years, both horns (high and low) have stopped working every year. I have had the horns replaced in March 2023, January 2024 and as I type this complaint, both horns are out again. It is a serious safety issue driving a vehicle without a horn. There is no warning that the horn is going to stop working; and I have discovered the malfunction while driving when I needed to alert another driver before we potentially collided. It has also been extremely inconvenient for me to take off work to take the car in for more service. What's more frustrating is I was told by a service manager that they (Hyundai USA) are aware of the defect with these particular horns but has chosen to continue to replace the defective horns with more defective horns. Now I drive an unsafe vehicle until I can take off work again to have my horns replaced with parts that will last for one year, if I'm lucky. I am asking for some assistance with this matter since it is clear that Hyundai USA has not made it a priority to solve this ongoing safety problem for all its customers who are having the same issue. Thank you.

Equipment problem #8

Horn stopped working.

Equipment problem #9

The horn has completely failed for the 4th time. Dealer is now stating it is not covered as mileage is over 60k.

Equipment problem #10

I have taken my Hyundai Santa Fe 2022 phev under warranty for a fix of being in reverse, the function not working, the car revs aggressively not in gear and then put it in park and the car aggressively jolts forward in park like a hard gear change. Hyundai replaced pcm and said it was fine. I took car and immediately noticed grinding noises and straight back to Hyundai. They claim it's fine. Today same issue with reversing and aggressive car jolting. Hyundai is going to take it back tomorrow. I do not feel safe in this vehicle. It felt like the transmission was going to give out on the freeway. The rpm are maxing out at 5-20 mph and sometimes don't want to engage in drive. Extremely unsafe for freeway driving. There is something terribly wrong with this cars engine or transmission. Unsafe for Hyundai to release for use.

Equipment problem #11

I believe my vehicle is part of the parking prawn recall. It jerked and jolt when in park very aggressively. When we proceeded to try to move the car in reverse it did not budge.

Equipment problem #12

This was a certified vehicle I purchased. I dont believe it was certified because after returning it after -3- weeks because the windshield wipers werent working properly. After they looked at it the dealership told me that whoever put the windshield in it broke part of the windshield wiper connections and also ruined the calibration on certain safety features, and broke the windshield itself. This was not caught on their certification process and just put out on the lot to sell. They expected me to pay 1/2 of the expense for which I refused.

Equipment problem #13

The car horn failed to work when I went to use it around April 20, 2025. I first noticed it while stopped at a traffic light and the car in front of me failed to advance for several seconds at the green light. Then I noticed a car drifting over the line in oncoming traffic and was unable to use the horn to alert the driver. As I drive with my toddler granddaughter in the car, I needed the vehicle fixed ASAP. My independent car mechanic had to replace 2 horns (hi tone horn and lo tone horn). Today I came to know of a Hyundai forum and did a search on car horns. Apparently, this is a known failure for many years. Some owners have had the horn replaced as many as 3 times. I since have requested reimbursement from Hyundai, but they refused because I didn't take it to a Hyundai dealership. There were no warning lamps or messages.

Equipment problem #14

Vehicle will not change out of ev electric mode and return to gas power causing hybrid battery drains to zero, vehicle loses acceleration, you can push the gas pedal to the floor and you have no acceleration, very unsafe when you are in traffic, no power to maneuver or avoid other vehicles quickly if needed, potential for accidents, hybrid system warning lights and alarms go on, have to try and pull over safely, battery will not recharge or takes a very long time to do so, only recourse is to shut vehicle off and restart which seems to reset vehicle, which in turn does not leave any warning lights other than codes on to show dealer, very dangerous to lose all acceleration capacity while in traffic, this has happened multiple times with the latest being today 3/23/25, vehicle is available for you to inspect, have had other powertrain codes issues as well, dealer has replaced fuel pump and erg valve but it does not resolve this hybrid issue, this battery drain issue has occurred multiple times but no resolution, help!.

Equipment problem #15

Backup camera no longer works.

Equipment problem #16

I attempted to sound the horn and it failed to sound. I have experienced this problem 2 times previously. The dealer replaced it the 1st time when the vehicle had about 18000 miles. The 2nd time they did not even note it on a service report but when the vehicle was returned to me after an oil change it was working. I contacted the dealer this time because the vehicle is no longer in warranty and requested they repair the horns for free. I was told they would have to get clearance from Hyundai. I noticed that Hyundai issued a TSB 23-be-009h for the Hyundai venue for this same problem. The horns on the Santa Fe are mounted low behind the front bumper which subjects them to water from the road when it rains, as it does often, here in louisiana. I am forced to drive a vehicle without a horn to warn other drivers.

Equipment problem #17

The auto start system (the gas saving feature that shuts the engine off and on when the car idles) causes the car to shut completely off. This has happened on the freeway at a traffic light and while turning into traffic. When the auto start feature is off I don’t have this problem. It’s a major safety issue and I’ve seen numerous complaints about this on facebook.

Equipment problem #18

Horn has stopped working 3 times in 2 1/2 years. Replaced twice under warranty. Now out of warranty.

Equipment problem #19

The horn on this. Vehicle has been replaced 4 times in 2. 5 years. It has failed and on three occasions I nearly hit a pedestrian and other vehicles. I asked my service representative, john king, of lia Hyundai in albany NY if there is a recall on this issue. He said no. I researched this problem and found that this is a widespread problem with Hyundai. I feel strongly that eventually someone will be seriously injured or worse in Hyundai does not recognize this problem.

Equipment problem #20

When pressing the accelerator from a full stop, the car would either not move at all, idle/roll forward, or unsteadily jerk forward. In addition, the car would brake while driving despite not applying any pressure to the brake pedal. This issue persisted regardless of "drive mode" and no cruise control was in use.

Equipment problem #21

I have a 2022 Santa Fe xrt within the 1st yr of owing in 2022 the horn stopped working in the winter. Went to dealership told it was known issue they replaced it. A few months later into following year still winter went out again they fixed again stating my car has 2 horns and both failed. So far 2022 and 2023 2 times. Fast forward to earlier in 2024 beginning of year horn failed again took to dealer expressed my concern of this is a safety and inconvenience issue they apologized but no recall yet. Now it's almost 2025 and I will be taking my car back to the dealership this weekend for yet another time due to the horn not working at all. I've found out my horn has not worked due to driving and a vehicle almost colliding into my lane and went to honk horn and nothing. A separate time a person has cut out in front of me almost causing an accident and all I could do is to lock up my breaks and swerve hope they see me and don't get hit could not beep to warn them. I bought the car brand new in 2022 Feb and I have had the horn replaced 4 to 5 times and they still are staying no recall this is ridiculous.

Equipment problem #22

Backup camera intermittently fails to display.

Equipment problem #23

On October 28, 2024 and again on November 26, 2024, a warning light appeared on the dash which said “ check hybrid system stop safely” within 20 seconds both times , the car became inoperable . When I stepped on the gas nothing happened . The first time I was blocking major traffic , the second time I was on an interstate in the right lane and had time to pull over. In about 15 minutes the light went off and the car drove as normal. The dealer has had the car after both instances , currently for 28 days, and has not been able to replicate the problem .

Equipment problem #24

My horn has been having problems on and off for the last year. It’s a 22 Hyundai Santa Fe. It is currently not working. Which is a safety hazard?.

Equipment problem #25

When you go from drive to park it doesn't go into park. If you try to go to park to reverse it won't go into reverse. Has happened 3 times. Have take it in to dealership and found nothing.

Equipment problem #26

Someone ran a red light at low speeds and t-boned my and I flipped over. The damage to the back passenger was minimal that should not have caused my car to flipped which in turn made me sustain multiple injuries including a broken rib for such a minor incident. The safely of this vehicle flipping so easily for such an accident has me very concerned. I have also retained a lawyer for this accident as well.

Equipment problem #27

3 different times in last 3 weeks the car seems to lose power while I’m driving. It will not go above 35-40mph even though I’m trying to accelerate. No warning messages. I had to go slow with my hazards on until it eventually slowly returns to speed. Very scary on the highway.

Equipment problem #28

On November 28 2023, I was pulling onto a small highway when an alarm went off, car stopped (engine off) as other cars were coming towards me. The message displayed was "autostop is off. Shift to p or n and start engine manually". Because the alarm was so loud and I was concerned, I snapped a picture which will be attached. I immediately pushed start button and was able to get out of the way. I had not turned the idle start stop (iss) button to off - so supposedly it was on. (you have to push this button to turn iss off. This happened twice until I was able to get to service department. After much time (and using a loaner car) Hyundai agreed to provide a new battery because of its health. This happened again. I took the car back and the manager showed me a technical service bulletin - regarding my car - "rough shift and hesitation improved logic". This didn't sound like idle start stop bulletin but I was assured it was (attached). Though the stall has not occurred since, the iss icon at times just isn't there. My dealer is communicating with Hyundai to try to keep my car again and provide a loaner. I am reporting this because many others on Hyundai forums are describing the same incidents. Yet I haven't seen anyone mention the technical service bulletin, even though many have taken this problem to their dealer. To me this needs to be considered for a recall. I had a daughter and grand daughter in my car and had no idea what to do with cars approaching. Fortunately, just pushing start worked. I have read the manual and know what is required for iss to work. All requirements were net. It is possible the TSB has fixed stall issue so I am mainly reporting for other drivers.

Equipment problem #29

Last night while driving home the panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. The result was a hole approx. 20 inched by 20 inches. The glass fell onto the fabric cover. We were traveling at about 40 mph. The roof was not hit by a rock or any other item. The explosion was very loud and frankly frightening resulting in temporary confusion as to what was happening. I have learned that Hyundai has settled a class action lawsuit in 2015. I have contacted the dealership for replacement but my question is if they knew about this over 8 years ago why has this not been resolved?.

Equipment problem #30

The horn is not working. I looked on google and it says that the manufacturer does not know about the problem and other cars are not working.

Equipment problem #31

While driving on the freeway yesterday, my sunroof exploded above me. There was no rock or any evidence of anything hitting my car roof to make it explode it just happened out of no where.

Equipment problem #32

I was driving the vehicle my pregnant wife and 1 year old baby were in the car with me. Car started shaking and I was loosing speed right before getting off the freeway. There was a very strong smell of gas as if it was leaking but it was not. I have an appointment to be checked at the dealership Wednesday August 16th. This is the second time something like this happens while driving in the freeway.

Equipment problem #33

This is the second time my windshield has received a small chip and it spreads to the nearest end of the windshield then within 24 hours spreads across windshield.

Equipment problem #34

While driving on highway on July 17, 2023, 2022 sante fe with less than 12,000 miles driven , suddenly lost power, rpm racing back and forth, and would not exceed 40 mph despite gas peddle to floor. Eventually was able to reach 60 mph, until reaching a slight incline where it dropped to 40 mph. I was seriously concerned I was going to cause an accident with several large trucks being forced to rapidly slow down behind me as lft lane was occupied by other vehicles. This is the second such incident. In October 2022, less than I month after I purchased vehicle new from dealership, vehicle suddenly lost power climbing a hill on a two-lane hiway with multiple vehicles not far behind me. I was terrified for fear of being hit from behind as this highway is curvy, heavily traveled, and bordered on one side with drops between 75-100 feet to the river below. The vehicle slowed to 30 mph despite trying to downshift/upshift pressing accelerator. There was no room to pull off road so I continued at 30 mph, trailing numerous vehicles until reaching top of hill where vehicle seemed to recover. Since I only owned vehicle for a few weeks I thought it was something I had done until I received a recall notice. Second incident above ocurred after vehicle had been serviced for recall.

Equipment problem #35

I had previously filed a complaint and received an issue number 11494975 I have not been able to retrieve any information related to this number. In any event I am constantly having problems with acceleration, stalling, the car puts itself in neutral, and on occasion has completely turned itself off at a light or while driving. I do have a video of the acceleration problem and revived an email back from laura nelson. This is a very serious safety issue. Hyundai is not responding to following up. I also took it to an outside mechanic to put in the computer and got a general code so there is a problem somewhere. Thank you susan piller.

Equipment problem #36

I was driving on the highway when my car all of a sudden started to beep and told me it was activating the emergency brake. I was driving safely and was not at risk of a collision. The car slowed slightly. Just as soon as the emergency brake warning popped up, it was gone. It was terrifying for the car to slow down while driving 60 mph on the highway.

Equipment problem #37

Took the vehicle in for a recall of the trailer tow hitch and was told it would be fixed free of charge. I also got an oil change. Once the work was complete, I was informed that they are unable to fix it and there is no remedy available currently. The consultant told me that the vehicle is at risk of catching on fire while driving and/or parked so I should not park it in my garage. I now have a vehicle that can catch on fire at anytime which is dangerous for myself, any passengers and anyone in the vicinity of the car when it is parked. There is no warning light that came on in the car notifying me of the recall problem and I fear there will also be no warning light when/if it catches on fire. There is not estimated time that a remedy will be available and I believe this to be unacceptable.

Equipment problem #38

On Friday the 7th of April while driving about 40 miles/hr my car lost power in traffic. I pushed gas pedal all way to floor to no avail. Then I was able to get it to move at about 20m/hr for short distance and it cut out and engine lite on as well as a horrible smell like something was burning. It had to be towed into dealer.

Equipment problem #39

The rubber seal around the windshield is pulling apart and does not remain in the track. When I am driving greater than 30 miles per hour, the rubber seal comes out and flaps in the wind. Regarding my safety or the safety of others: I believe it exposes the security of the windshield which could become loose, crack or fall out. In addition, when it rains water could seep through and cause electrical issues. April 10, 2023 brought vehicle and showed issue, rubber secured. Advised normal. Issue continued. Brought vehicle to south shore Hyundai dealer on 29/06/2023 and was advised it was fixed, on my way home the same issue resurfaced. Returned vehicle to dealership on Saturday 22 July 2023 for further analysis. Currently awaiting outcome of analysis from certified technician. I am seeking your help to investigate this issue of the broken seal, as I am concerned that maybe my vehicle may not be an isolated case and may require you to contact Hyundai America to investigate and resolve the problem.

Equipment problem #40

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact received a notification for NHTSA campaign number: 23v181000 (trailer hitches); however, the parts for the repair were unavailable. The dealer had been notified about the recall and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer had been notified of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Equipment problem #41

My car has stalled and shut down and locked up completely while I was driving the vehicle for the 4 th time thanksgiving day. I was petrified! I called service at the dealership and they wanted to charge me. The car isn’t even a year old! what is Hyundai going to do about this?.

Equipment problem #42

When I was driving the moonroof exploded without any incident and we didn’t have any car near us.

Equipment problem #43

Two of my luggage rack covers have popped off while driving, leaving an unsightly look to vehicle and could have hit cars behind. Not for sure if any damage to roof occurred but did hear loud thump when they came off. They came off at different speeds and about two weeks apart. One came off while driving 40mph the other at 75mph. I only lost covers on passenger side. The other two on drivers side are still intact.

Equipment problem #44

3rd and worse instance where had loss of power. While trying to accelerate onto the highway my vehicle would not do over 30mph (highway is 60mph zone). No lights illuminated on dash that there was any issue. Impeded traffic until I could pull over. This was very dangerous, I was lucky to not be rearended while trying to merge on highway. Dealer has had my vehicle for a week not being able to reproduce event. No codes in computer and unable to locate any recalls.

Equipment problem #45

I was traveling along with no other traffic near me. All of a sudden I heard what sounded like a gun going off. I was traveling approximately 50 mph. My new Santa Fe is less than 2 months old with 1700 miles on it. When I reached my destination about 20 miles further I got out and looked at the roof. The glass "eye brow" that sits in front of the moon roof was shattered. I am positive that nothing hit it as I was not among trees nor were there any other vehicles near me. I feel that this is a safety issue in that the mere noise of the explosion could have been so distracting that is could cause a major accident.

Equipment problem #46

Not even 500 miles on it and the transfer case/ power control unit went down. (it’s the thing that switches it from electric back to engine power.

Equipment problem #47

New vehicle purchased 10/15/21 form lester glen Hyundai in toms river NJ. After two weeks and 1100 miles car started leaking gasoline on garage floor, street and driveway at rate of approx one drop every two seconds. Called closest Hyundai dealer (burns Hyundai), both dealerships said appointments were three weeks out, scheduled on 12/1 with burns. Stated this was a hazerdous waste spill and extremem safety hazzard but dealers made no other offer of help. Before filing complaint called Hyundai corp and they told me they would escalate but would take 7 days to get back to me (Hyundai complaint #189991007). No one has called me. In last effort lm with president of lester glenn 11/18 at 3:20pm asking to call back and resolve so I would not have to file complaint, nobody called me as of 11/19 at 1pm. Leaking appears to be coming from a while plastic block at the rear of the gas tank.

Equipment problem #48

We purchased my 2022 Hyundai sante fe in July of 2021. I had about 5000 miles on the vehicle at the time. On October 15th I was driving down a 2 lane road and heard a pop, I didn't think much of it, thought it might have been an acorn that fell on my roof as the area I live in is very treesy. Later that evening when we got back in the car to leave, we noticed the windshield was cracked, probably about a six inch area. I told my husband earlier that day I heard the popping noise but did not see anything actually fly up and hit the windshield. So we proceeded to call the insurance company who told us the entire windshield would need to be replaced. We were responsible for our $500 deductible. The repair shop contacted every Hyundai dealership in the southeast region only to find out the windshields were on backorder until oct. 31st. (red flag) in the meantime the crack has spread all the way across the windshield. We found it odd that windshields would be on backorder so we googled "Hyundai sante fe cracked windshields" and we were floored at the amount of stories out there with the same exact problem, not only with the sante fe but other Hyundai SUV models as well. I just wanted to bring this to your attention because I feel the windshields are defective and unsafe. I don't know how many people this has to happen to before Hyundai acknowledges the issue. Even if it were an acorn that fell, it should not have done the damage that it did. I still feel it was spontaneous as I did not see anything actually hit or bounce off the windshield. So here we are still waiting on the windshield to arrive at the repair shop and out $500.

Equipment problem #49

When using waze via wireless car play, the connection would be disconnected and prompted me to use cable. Haven't use cable yet so not sure if cable will work.
