36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

3 different times in last 3 weeks the car seems to lose power while I’m driving. It will not go above 35-40mph even though I’m trying to accelerate. No warning messages. I had to go slow with my hazards on until it eventually slowly returns to speed. Very scary on the highway.

39 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2023

The vehicle started stalling on hwy and check engine light came on. I was trying to accelerate as other vehicles were catching up but it won't do that. After a while it did regain the power. We took the vehicle to Hyundai dealership in roswell, GA and they reset the check engine light. They told us that it was ok to drive with solid check engine light. We need to pull over and call roadside assistance if check engine light starts to blink. We have an appointment for oil change on 8/18 and when we bring in the vehicle at that time, ask them to do the diagnostics. Even yesterday, the car started to stall. Reported the incident to Hyundai case # 21849832. Error code on dash - p1c2d03.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2023

While driving I could not accelerate over 35 mph on the freeway this has happened at 10 times now. While driving my parking brake will come on causing me to stop immediately. This is a huge safety risk not only to me but the people in my car or driving around me. My vehicle has been brought to dealerships multiple times and nothing has been done they can’t find the problem.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2023

First the check engine light was on and the vehicle was vibrating really bad and making a loud sound. Took it to the Hyundai dealership which claimed to repair the issue. While on my home from the dealership ( Hyundai of slidell), which was almost hours away, the vehicle lost power while driving. Later, multiple lights were illuminated on the dashboard including the epb, auto hold, forward collision, blind spot, check engine, and oil light. The vehicle is currently back at the dealership. Hyundai has been notified numerous times about the issue. This is a safety issue that needs to be resolved. Although there are no current recalls for this issue everything im experiencing with my vehicle are the same issues reported in previous recalls.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2023

I was idling for 15 minutes and then drove for 10 minutes at which time the check hybrid system stop safely alert showed on my dashboard with the red light. I was on a bridge and could not stop in the middle, this was very terrifying and dangerous as I was loosing acceleration and speed and it felt like the car was about to totally turn off, I was losing control, I was pressing on the brake and I felt it was not braking at which I point luckily I was at the end of the bridge and pulled aside, and turned it off. I waited 15 minutes before turning it back on and drove it back home. As I was driving it I can see the battery level rising. I plugged the charger that night to charge it and it started charging but then suddenly stopped and would not charge. Since then I tried charging it again and it charges for an hour and stops. I took it the dealer at the earliest appointment I can get and they ran diagnostics and no code came up. They said that it had to do with the coolant and they put in a new coolant and that should hopefully solve the charging issue. I tried again to charge it at home and again it charged for an hour and then it stopped and will not charge again. I am scared to drive it far now and especially on brides.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2023

Backed out of my driveway yesterday morning on way to work, 5/17/23. Driving down my street approx 15 mph to stop sign. As I approached stop sign I pressed on my brakes to stop and my car would not stop, it immediately accelerated and proceeded toward my neighbors house which was directly in front of me. I kept hitting the brakes and it would not stop. I was able to steer away from the home, went up the curb/lawn hit a couple of cable boxes and finally hit a pretty large oak tree on the same neighbors lawn. The car was still running on impact. Had major damage done to automobile (tire blow out/rim dented/front end damage) luckily I was in my neighborhood where the speed limit is 20mph. I had the car towed to Hyundai dealership and am waiting upon inspection and the result of what caused the accident. As of now they have not given me a diagnoses. They keep wanting to say it was driver error, which is completely incorrect. I did obtain a video from my neighbor which doesn't quite show what happened but the sound on the video you can hear the engine accelerate and than right after you can hear the crash impact. I do not want to drive this SUV I do not feel safe whether they fix it or not.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2023

2022 Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid. This incident has occurred twice at the time of this write up. Both incidents have happened on the first start up of the vehicle engine for the day in the early morning (on the way to work). The temperature outside was cool (10-35 degrees, maine). On at least one occasion it had rained during the night before using the vehicle. It may have been damp on the other occasion as well. After about 3 miles of driving the vehicle it completely loses power. No amount of movement to the accelerator changes the sudden loss of all power. This is a hybrid and the battery gauge below charge/economy/power rpm area of the vehicle starts to completely and instantaneously drain to what would be zero had I not been able to pull the vehicle over and turn the vehicle off. At this point, on both occasions, leaving the vehicle turned off for a minute and then restarting the vehicle seems to alleviate the problem. The incidents have occurred about 2 months apart and since the vehicle turned 20,000 miles. I also feel like it takes more push on the accelerator to get the same response that I got on day 1 when I drove it off of the lot at the dealership. I also notice that the ev indicator light does not come on as frequently as it used to. It would always come on when coasting - and now sometimes it does not.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2023

Multiple warning lights came on . Then loss power to the transmission. First time was in July of 2022 less than 2000 miles on it . Almost an accident! towed to dealer basically did nothing! a few months later went in for oil change they did update to transmission software . Loss power to transmission again 4/8/23 with 7500 on it . This time warning lights came on and loss power to transmission at 55 mph !towed to a Hyundai dealership cleared code and said nothing they could do! except fixed a recall on the trailer hitch harness. I know there are recalls for this 8 speed dual clutch transmission on other Hyundai vehicles ,but not on my vehicle. Recall number 22v746099 I don’t feel this vehicle is safe for my wife to drive . It’s been sitting in my garage since I got it back from dealership the last time. This recall needs to be expanded!!!.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2023

47 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2023

The accident took place on February 13 at approximately 7:40 a. M. My wife (the primary driver of the vehicle) had just dropped my son off at school and was pulling the vehicle into our garage as she has done at least four times a day since we purchased it in February 2022 for use as our primary family vehicle. She pulled into the garage, came to a complete stop, pressed the “park” button and confirmed that the vehicle was in park, and removed her foot from the brake. The vehicle then lurched forward and collided with a storage cube adjacent to our garage wall, causing extensive damage to both the front end of the vehicle and the garage/dining room wall. Within minutes of the accident, I contacted temecula Hyundai (our local dealership and service center), informed the service manager of what had just happened, and asked them how they wanted me to proceed given the fact that the malfunction was a warranty issue. They directed me to handle the accident through my insurance company. I specifically asked whether the vehicle needed to be preserved in place and not driven in order to maintain the scene and/or vehicle for investigation, and they said no. Nevertheless, we brought the vehicle to Hyundai that day to have it inspected and computer diagnostics run, since I suspected both might be necessary. They said the computer likely wouldn't capture this type of issue. We waited several weeks for our assigned Hyundai case manage (tracy) to contact us with further instructions (which never happened, despite several requests for her and/or a supervisor to contact me), but eventually followed our insurance company’s instructions to take the vehicle to caliber collision to proceed with repairs, which were completed on March 30. We are still waiting for Hyundai corporate to address the issue.

65 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2022

We have a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe with less than 17,000 miles. We pulled into the left turn lane at an intersection. When we stopped for a red light, the vehicle abruptly shut down all power with no warning. We tried to restart the car and nothing would work. We tried the hazard warning flashers and they did not work. Our vehicle was completely dead with no dash lights, no infotainment screen, we could not put the car in park or drive. We could not activate the emergency brake. It was as if the battery was disconnected. We were sitting in the travel lane of a very busy multi-lane roadway with no way to exit the vehicle unless we allowed it to become an errant vehicle. If my husband took his foot off the brake, the vehicle would have rolled backwards down the hill where we were stopped. After several light cycles, we were able to get a break in traffic and he was able to let the vehicle roll backwards and steer the car into a small roadside parking lot. I was able to find someone in an adjacent business who gave us a wooden chock to put under the tire so he could take his foot off the brake and prevent the car from reentering back into traffic. We called roadside assistance and tried unsuccessfully to restart the vehicle numerous times over the 2 1/2 hours while we were waiting for the tow truck. The tow truck driver came and was able to jump start the vehicle. This has now happened a total of 4 times in the last 4 months. The dealerships can not recreate the problem and there are no diagnostic codes because the vehicle dies abruptly. Hyundai customer service refuses to do anything to help with this issue because there are no codes and the tech can't recreate the issue. We can not drive this vehicle because when it happens it is very sudden and gives no warning. This could be a serious safety issue when the vehicle shuts down in the travel lane and we are unable to get out of the vehicle, activate emergency flashers or even put the car in park.
