Service Brakes problem #1

Vehicle will not brake assist in the front even though all of the settings are selected it to work and assist in the event of needing to brake suddenly.

Service Brakes problem #2

-I had just exited from the highway and was driving into my town. While doing so, I had both hands on the steering wheel and suddenly the car started beeping and flashing warnings/ alerts indicating that my hands were not on the steering wheel, which they were. Within seconds the car began to deaccelerate and pull me off the road to my right hand side. I initially had no control over the vehicle. Then again- without explanation it began to register hands on the steering wheel and I was able to resume control of the vehicle. I believe the lane assist feature was on at the time. It all happened very quickly. Had I still been on the highway as I was moments before, there was enough traffic that I would have been pulled into another vehicle or caused an accident if people saw me suddenly rapidly deaccelerating/braking in front of them because they would have no warning and a very tiny amount of time to react. Then, in an other instance that followed shortly thereafter, my boyfriend was driving with one of the lane assist on. While driving, the weather changed and it began snowing and freezing rain that was freezing when it hit the windshield. The lane assist began to have trouble seeing the lines on the road since the snow and ice were obscuring them somewhat. It began to beep and gently correct the car- which was not appropriate in this case (we understand that the road conditions were beyond its abilities to safely discern things accurately). My boyfriend who had two hands on the wheel trying to carefully navigate this sudden burst of weather so at not to slide. He tried turning it off, but it wasn't turning off, and couldn't troubleshoot it without taking his hands off the wheel. He instructed me to turn it off through the settings menu in the infotainment system, which seemed to disable it. Prior to these dangerous problems, I had experienced some seemingly sensor- related malfunctions with the tire pressure monitoring system. I'm out of room to write more.

Service Brakes problem #3

Bought in sept 2026 with 30,000 miles. Would not stop when breaking at low speed but would jerk and accelerate, causing me to drive through red lights and stop signs. How to swerve to avoid collisionhappened about 6 times. Returned to dealer. States could not duplicate. Traded car in.

Service Brakes problem #4

Vehicle identification number (VIN): [xxx] make: Hyundai model: Santa Fe year: 2024 description of the issue: •component or system that failed: the vehicle’s brake system, including the emergency braking system, failed to slow or stop the vehicle at low speeds. The problem is available for inspection upon request. •safety risk: this failure endangered my safety and others. While driving slowly in traffic, I fully pressed the brake pedal, and the emergency braking system activated, but the vehicle did not slow or stop, causing a minor collision with another vehicle. •reproduction or confirmation: prior to the incident, on two separate occasions, I noticed the brake pedal felt loose or like it “released” at low speeds, forcing me to press harder for the vehicle to slow. These issues were not previously inspected or documented. I was planning to have the brake issue inspected along with a current recall and other concerns, including a stiff seatbelt buckle and a door that was difficult to open, as soon as I had the chance. I have not received any formal recall notice by mail or email. I learned about the recall during routine maintenance at the dealership. •inspections: the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer but I plan to take it to an authorized Hyundai dealership ASAP for inspection. The accident has not been reported to the police or insurance yet but it will be first thing tomorrow. •warning lamps or symptoms: no warning lights appeared, but there unusual brake behavior was noted on two occasions about two weeks before the crash. Thought this time was significantly worse, and by worse this I mean the vehicle didn’t brake. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Service Brakes problem #5

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. In addition, the contact stated that the auto start/stop feature was activated, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that the failure occurred while parking the vehicle in the driveway. The auto start/stop feature was activated before the vehicle crashed into the garage door. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice. The contact stated that the second failure occurred while driving approximately 35 mph, and the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,500.

Service Brakes problem #6

The vehicle was purchased brand new and at near 8k miles the brakes became warped. It caused severe shaking on the highway and has continued to get worse. Hyundai confirmed the brakes were bad but refused to replace the rotors. Rotors on a new car should not be warped at 8k miles, cheap materials lead to that.

Service Brakes problem #7

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while pulling into an automatic car wash and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal travelled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle then drove into the car wash while the car wash conveyor system was not engaged. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving 2-3 mph in a parking lot, and the vehicle rear-ended another occupied vehicle. There was no damage or injury sustained. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 5 mph and pulling out of a parking lot, the brake pedal was depressed, but travelled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pumped the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond and rear-ended another occupied vehicle. The contact sustained cuts on the left leg from hitting the leg against the dashboard while pumping the brake pedal. The contact's vehicle sustained scratches on the front end, and the other vehicle sustained damage on the bumper plastic cover. A police report was filed. Both vehicles could be driven away from the scene. The air bags did not deploy. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing on several occasions; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Service Brakes problem #8

I purchased a brand new 2024 Santa Fe xrt back in March of 2024. And around December my front end started shaking and I had bad vibrations in my front in when I was finally able to get it into the Hyundai dealership in January they told me it was my front 2 rotors where warped my vehicle only has 13k miles and shouldn't have rotor issuses. Even though it was covered under warranty all the dealership did was resurface the rotors and said the vibration is gone. They also said if it does it again just to bring it back but a new vehicle shouldn't have warped rotor issues with less than 15k miles.

Service Brakes problem #9

Forward attention warning camera continues to malfunction stating camera is obscured even when not. If cruise is allowed to be engaged the camera will randomly decide it doesn’t detect your face and will hard brake to stop the car. This has happened multiple times to me, narrowly avoiding collision from behind. Hyundai refuses to address the issue because their technicians can’t duplicate the issue so they state the car is safe to drive. Camera becomes hot to the touch much like an overheating cell phone. At times camera can be covered completely and will not detect it’s obscured. This camera is a big safety hazard rather than providing any safety. Someone will die if this is not addressed-the manufacturer doesn’t seem to care to fix the issue. I’ve reported this to the dealership from the 1st week I’ve owned the car. My car has been at the dealership for this issue almost half of the time I’ve owned it. I have seen many others with the same issue in Hyundai forums-their issues have always been dismissed as not a safety issue by Hyundai as well. How can a car that will brake from a high speed or any speed for that matter be safe-just because it “thinks” you aren’t looking forward but are looking forward.

Service Brakes problem #10

When placed in "park" the vehicle's brakes did not engage, which allowed the vehicle to roll backwards when I exited the vehicle. I was able to reproduce the problem again and I recorded a video showing the problem. When pressing "park" on the electronic shifter, the dashboard displays that the video is in "park". However, the brakes are not engaged as evidenced by the vehicle rolling backwards when I take my foot off the brake. After reproducing the issue a couple times (~ 10 minutes later) and documenting the issue with a video, the check engine light eventually came on and the dashboard displayed: "park malfunction. Engage parking brake when parking vehicle. " which quickly changed to the warning message: "shifter system malfunction! service immediately" the vehicle would no longer let me place it in "park" and it remained on in "accessory mode" and I was unable to turn off "accessory mode" since the vehicle could not be placed in park. However, neither of these error messages appeared the 3-4 times I was able to place the vehicle in "park" and then observe it roll back. The vehicle has been towed to northwest Hyundai for inspection/repair. >> how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the car rolling uncontrolled is a huge safety hazard to anyone that happens to be in the path of the car. It is also a huge safety hazard to any occupants that might remain in the vehicle when the driver exits after placing it in park. >> has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? not yet. The service error that appeared prevented the car from being placed in "park". However, I was able to capture a video of the problem. >> were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, there were no error messages of any kind.

Service Brakes problem #11

Since buying this vehicle I have had problems with shaking while braking… specifically while going at a higher speed downhills. At 3000 miles I took it in and they shaved down my rotors and stated it would need to be replaced if it didn’t fix it. The problem continued, when I would bring it to the dealership they would deny being able to replicate the problem. Upon searching on reddit I saw that others are having problems with their rotors on their Santa Fe prematurely needing replacement. This has been a problem since I bought the car and I feel like it’s a significant safety problem that Hyundai will not cover under warranty.
