1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2026

The vehicle experienced a significant failure of the body control module (bcm). This resulted in multiple electrical malfunctions, including don't detected the key, despite the low mileage (12,000 miles), the electronic systems have proven unreliable, and the vehicle is currently undergoing warranty repairs at the dealership. "the sudden failure of electrical components could lead to a crash or leave the driver stranded in an unsafe location. I am concerned about the long-term reliability and safety of this vehicle’s electronic architecture. " after arriving home and shifting the vehicle into 'park', the car began to roll backward on its own. The vehicle continued to move until it struck my garage door. This incident occurred unexpectedly after the transmission was supposedly secured in park. It was necessary to apply the brakes to make it stop. Although the physical damage was minor (scratches), this unintended movement represents a severe safety risk that could have resulted in a serious accident or injury. " I've also noticed that it makes strange shifts in the transmission when going down a steep hill.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2026

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe purchased new in may 2024. On three occasions since December 2025, while driving, the dashboard went completely black as if the vehicle shut off. The Hyundai startup logo then reappeared while the vehicle was still moving, and the vehicle lost acceleration. The most recent event occurred at highway speed, approximately 65-70 mph, requiring us to coast to the shoulder. No warning lights appeared before the event. A video of the most recent incident is available. Dealer inspected vehicle but could not duplicate the problem and reported no error codes.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2026

Incident description: I am reporting a recurring and dangerous safety defect involving the adas (advanced driver assistance systems) on my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has exhibited uncommanded steering input. Even when the lane keeping assist (lka) system is manually disabled by the driver, the vehicle software overrides this command and re-activates the system without driver input, causing unpredictable steering behavior. System failures & error codes: the vehicle intermittently displays a "check forward attention warning system" failure. Dealership diagnostics have confirmed the following historical fault codes related to module communication: •c164286, c168886, c16b902, c28b981 related safety recalls: this vehicle is currently subject to recall 265 (NHTSA 24v561000) for main floor wiring harness chafing and recall 288 (NHTSA 25v808000) for rearview camera wiring tension. I believe the uncommanded steering and camera failures are direct results of the electrical interference or harness damage described in these active safety recalls. Safety risk: the uncommanded steering override creates an immediate risk of a crash, especially in high-speed highway conditions where the vehicle may unexpectedly pull against the driver's intent.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2025

-I had just exited from the highway and was driving into my town. While doing so, I had both hands on the steering wheel and suddenly the car started beeping and flashing warnings/ alerts indicating that my hands were not on the steering wheel, which they were. Within seconds the car began to deaccelerate and pull me off the road to my right hand side. I initially had no control over the vehicle. Then again- without explanation it began to register hands on the steering wheel and I was able to resume control of the vehicle. I believe the lane assist feature was on at the time. It all happened very quickly. Had I still been on the highway as I was moments before, there was enough traffic that I would have been pulled into another vehicle or caused an accident if people saw me suddenly rapidly deaccelerating/braking in front of them because they would have no warning and a very tiny amount of time to react. Then, in an other instance that followed shortly thereafter, my boyfriend was driving with one of the lane assist on. While driving, the weather changed and it began snowing and freezing rain that was freezing when it hit the windshield. The lane assist began to have trouble seeing the lines on the road since the snow and ice were obscuring them somewhat. It began to beep and gently correct the car- which was not appropriate in this case (we understand that the road conditions were beyond its abilities to safely discern things accurately). My boyfriend who had two hands on the wheel trying to carefully navigate this sudden burst of weather so at not to slide. He tried turning it off, but it wasn't turning off, and couldn't troubleshoot it without taking his hands off the wheel. He instructed me to turn it off through the settings menu in the infotainment system, which seemed to disable it. Prior to these dangerous problems, I had experienced some seemingly sensor- related malfunctions with the tire pressure monitoring system. I'm out of room to write more.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2025

While driving my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, the vehicle experienced a complete dashboard and system blackout, as if the vehicle shut off and rebooted. This has occurred on two separate occasions. On one occasion, while stopped at a traffic light, the dashboard went completely black and restarted. After the system rebooted, the vehicle would not accelerate or move when the accelerator was pressed. I had to turn the vehicle off, restart it, and wait before it would drive again. The suspected malfunction involves the vehicle’s electrical/infotainment and related vehicle control systems. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle lost critical dashboard information and temporarily lost the ability to accelerate while in traffic, creating the risk of being struck by other vehicles. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealership (world Hyundai of matteson). On December 23, 2025, I was informed by the dealer that a system/infotainment “glitch” had been identified and that a replacement part would be ordered. However, the part was never replaced. The dealer later stated that because the issue could not be duplicated during test drives (approximately 85 miles driven), the repair was not authorized. The dealer acknowledged the issue could not be reproduced on demand. The manufacturer (Hyundai) has not yet physically inspected the vehicle beyond dealership involvement. No police or insurance inspections occurred, as there was no crash. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. The failure occurred suddenly with a complete dashboard blackout and system restart. The first occurrence happened prior to December 23, 2025; the second occurred afterward. The issue is intermittent and unresolved. I am concerned that the defect must reoccur while driving in order to be repaired, posing an ongoing safety risk.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2025

I was riding on a suburban street and ran over a branch I did not see due to rain and darkness. I went back and looked at the incident and the branch did not seem like it was that big but I quickly lost power and my car stalled and I could not get it restarted. I later found out that that branch took out my hybrid battery connection under the car which rendered the car useless. It is a 5000 fix. I don't know why such an important part is exposed under the undercarriage of an awd SUV. I was traveling at 27 mph. If I had been on a highway it would have been very dangerous to have stalled out so fast. Once it was stalled the battery drained very fast from me running my hazards so that the tow truck driver had to jump it to get it to go from neutral to park and my parking brake is electric so I couldn't activate the parking brake either. I would also like to say that the headlights on this car are severely underpowered.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

I purchased the vehicle from ourisman Hyundai of bowie, inc. (bowie, maryland) on [xxx] (the “date of purchase”). Within a few months of the date of purchase, I began having issues with the digital dashboard and heads up display. Both the digital dashboard and heads up display would go completely dark, leaving me an inability to view essential operational and safety information, including but not limited to, the speedometer, rear view camera, blind spot cameras, driving mode, driving gear, navigation, warning messages, lane following assist, tire pressure monitoring system, driver attention warnings, etc. (the “hazardous condition”). After multiple calls and emails with the service manager at len stoler Hyundai (owings mills, maryland), I took my car to their dealership on November 5, 2024, December 30, 2024, and may 28, 2025, to have hazardous condition corrected. Although len stoler Hyundai was able to slightly improve the hazardous condition such that it was more intermittent – going dark for minutes or hours at a time instead of days at a time - the problem was never satisfactorily resolved. Recently, the hazardous condition became less intermittent, and all screens went permanently dark. Since len stoler Hyundai closed their doors, I reached out to heritage Hyundai owings mills to address the hazardous condition. After a detailed call with a service advisor, I dropped off the vehicle to them on August 15, 2025, and as of the date of this letter, thirteen (13) days have passed without them resolving the hazardous condition, or even returning my repeated telephone calls. To date, heritage Hyundai owings mills remains in possession of the vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2025

I tried to open the doors of my locked vehicle with the key fob and there was no response. I tried several times and nothing happened. I called aaa and they opened the door with my valet key and was able to pop the trunk. He checked the battery and it was working fine. He then noticed that the wire connecting the battery to the fuse box has melted at the point of contract with the fuse box and actually melted part of the plastic fuse box. There was nothing he could do, so I had to have the car towed to the dealer. I was lucky that the total meltdown of the electrical system did not occur when I was driving or I would not have been able to see any of the controls on the inside of the auto and not be able to use the gear shift to put the car in park.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2025

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. In addition, the contact stated that the auto start/stop feature was activated, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that the failure occurred while parking the vehicle in the driveway. The auto start/stop feature was activated before the vehicle crashed into the garage door. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice. The contact stated that the second failure occurred while driving approximately 35 mph, and the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,500.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2024

My vehicle was in for repairs at both a collision shop and a dealership following a minor accident. When I got the vehicle back, I found that the seat controls were not working, preventing me from moving the seat backward or forward. During a test drive, the car lost power despite the gas pedal being fully pressed; it wouldn't accelerate and then suddenly jerked forward. This could have caused an accident if I had been on a busy highway. Further testing revealed an abnormal noise at 1500 rpm in multiple gears. The vehicle has been towed back to the dealership, but there's no word yet on when it will be fixed. Hyundai has been contacted multiple times, as the car has been awaiting parts and undergoing repairs for over four months. They don't seem to be taking these safety issues seriously nor helpful in resolving the issue.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2024

The vehicle has a digital instrument panel. Today the instrumental panel started flickering, sometimes all warning lights will flash, and then the panel will go completely black/blank while driving. Sometimes a red "no signal" warning will flash across the screen. When this happens, there's no speedometer, engine temperature, or any information about the vehicle. This vehicle is 1-month old and has about 1300 miles.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2024

The digital screens that contain the gauge cluster and infotainment array intermittently flicker, black out, or go to static. Sometimes it's one side or the other and sometimes it is both. When the gauge cluster screen is affected, the heads-up display on the windshield also turns off. All of this can happen while the vehicle is idle or while driving. Sometimes the displays flicker and sometimes they just black out or go to static for the entirety of the drive. It is available for inspection. The biggest safety concerns are the complete lack of a speedometer or warning lights when this problem occurs. The problem did not have to be reproduced by the dealer because the screens and the hud were completely blacked out when the vehicle was taken in for service. The problem was supposedly "repaired" with an "update". The problem has since resurfaced. The vehicle was inspected by service center personnel at a Hyundai dealership. When asked, a representative of that dealership stated that the problem is common amongst all Hyundai models featuring digital displays. There was no warning of the problem. One day the problem did not exist and the next it did.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2024

The digital gage cluster went black on my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe calligraphy (awd) while I was driving on September 5, 2024. There were no prior warnings or indicators to alert me that anything was going to fail/not operate properly. I was entering a school zone and could not determine what speed I was traveling at to ensure that I was not moving too fast and endangering children, as well as walking parents; I pulled over and activated my heads-up-display (hud) to see if I could utilize it to safely continue my journey. I was able to use the hud to know my speed. I initially had the hud turned off because my daughter, who is a new driver, said that it was distracting to her. This occurred first yesterday. I thought that it may have been due to my system conducting a software update, but the issue appears to be intermittent. It sometimes comes back on, but it only remains on for no more than 10-15 minutes before going black again. Since it is a new vehicle and under warranty, I scheduled an appointment with the local Hyundai dealership the same night the issue first occurred to have the problem evaluated. When I arrived the next morning I was told that it would take about two (2) weeks for it to be diagnosed!?! I then went to a friend, who is a certified mechanic specializing in electronics, to take a quick assessment. She didn't discover anything during her observation, but decided to check online to see if there were any reports of this issue occurring prior to my incident. She found a technical report stating that the issue is known and probably caused by a wiring diameter issue that causes the digital gage cluster to intermittently go out and come back on. I believe that this could be a serious condition in certain situations. Besides not knowing your speed, you don't know if a turn signal is activated, how much fuel you have left, engine temps, oil pressure, tire pressures (tpms), etc.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2024

Brand new vehicle purchased through clement Hyundai. Within a couple hundred miles, multiple times vehicle goes into neutral on its own while driving. Have to stop the vehicle and turn off engine to try to get it into drive to get off the road. Takes several attempts to get into drive. Major safety hazard! repaired once by jefferson city Hyundai. Same problem happening again. Car not drivable as it is a safety concern. Have found multiple online forums wherein people are having the exact same problem.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2024

The media screen console part of my 2024 Santa Fe has been glitching since July. Dealer has already looked at it and said there’s nothing to fix… now the screen flickers and the audio glitches over and over the same few seconds. . Then turn the car off and the audio stays playing over and over. Cannot turn off the media console or adjust volume. Screen goes out when using backup camera. I mostly have videos of these issues as you can’t tell in photos what’s wrong.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

The infotainment screen on my 2024 Santa Fe hybrid started flickering around 3k miles and right now at around 4. 5k miles, 95% of the times it stays dark and unresponsive, 5% of the time it comes on but constantly flickers and only works the other 5%. We have no way to monitor reverse camera and for a car with lots of blind spots, this has become a safety hazard. I tried the small reset button next to the right knob on the center console but no results. There's an open reddit thread on other owners expressing the same concern. This is nothing short of a major safety malfunction that could lead to potential damage to property and/or loss of life.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2024

While I was driving, my new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe suddenly experienced issues with the digital dashboard panel and a loss of speed. The dashboard went haywire, and my speed dropped from 60 mph to approximately 25 mph on the highway. The vehicle also struggled to accelerate from a standstill. After shutting off the vehicle and waiting a few minutes, the dashboard appeared to reset, and everything returned to normal. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not find any issues as no codes were displayed. The abrupt decrease in speed while driving is a significant concern, as it could have resulted in a rear-end collision on the highway.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2024

16 warning lights came on. Blinkers are t working, side cameras not working and many other features. Then the check engine light came on.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2024

When driving the cluster panel with speedometer etc goes black for a bit and then comes back on. Also, all the warning lights will come on sporadically at the same time and stay on for a few seconds then go away, or just stay on until car is turned off. Heads up display also goes away and sometimes can't even locate in their settings area. After about 10 min of my phone being on wireless charger it gives me a warning message that my phone is getting hot and to remove the phone. Bought vehicle new on April 13th and this all started within the first week and continue.
