Tl the contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle was parked and the key was removed from the ignition with the emergency brake engaged. The contact was standing with the driver's side door open and heard a thump sound. The vehicle started to roll backwards out of a parking space. The contact was struck by the door while attempting to re-enter the vehicle, but was unable to as she was dragged by the vehicle. The vehicle was able to stop once it crossed a main road and collided with a curb. The contact sustained injuries to her entire body that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was able to be driven back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not inspected by an independent mechanic or dealer to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
While my car was off and parked in my garage (with no keys in ignition), my 6 year old son was able to move the gear shift from "park" to "neutral/drive". He later showed me how he used "both his hands and pulled really hard. " my car rolled out of the garage, crossed the busy street and into the neighbors drive way (with my son in it!!!!!!). It then started to roll forward towards me and the street . . . . Until I could open the door and slam my foot on the brakes. I was unable to get the gear back into the "park" position and had to be pushed back into my garage. I then inserted the key to place the car into "park. ".
My emergency brakes went out while me and my 8 year old daughter was driving down a highway.
On March 24, 2010, my CO-worker and I were in my 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe when it suddenly accelerated. I pushed the brake to the floor and it would not slow down. I then put on the emergency brake. Both feet were extended to the floor holding these brakes down. The car did slow down but would not stop. I had to take a left turn across the highway (there was fortunately a break in the traffic), I put the car in park and turned off the engine. It made a very loud noise that lasted about 10 seconds or so. We jumped out of the car as if it were on fire. It's currently at the sheehy dealership in waldorf, MD. We are awaiting their diagnosis.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai sante fe. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag off warning light continued to illuminate. The dealer advised that the occupant of the passenger seat must weigh 110 pounds or more in order for the air bag to engage. The contact was concerned because for a small statured person, the air bag would not engage if needed. The dealer advised the contact that they were unable to make repairs to adjust to a person's weight. In addition, the contact stated if on a slight incline, the emergency brake would not engage. The dealer advised the contact that the failure was normal in his specific year, make and model. The vehicle was not repaired for either failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105 and the current mileage was 34,688.
