2001 Hyundai Sonata. Consumer writes in regards to airbag light being continuously on the consumer stated each time the air bag light illuminated, it required the dealer to reset the error code. On the last occasion, the dealer found a loose connector under the front seat. On several other occasions, the dealer stated the problem was caused by items being placed under the seat, however, the consumer stated that was not the case. The consumer discovered two recalls had been issued regarding air bag problems.

2 Air Bag Light On problem

The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminates even when an occupant is seated in the passenger seat. The light remains illuminated when the vehicle is in motion. The failure has been occurring for two months. The dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 01v347000 (air bags), although the failures were identical. The vehicle will be repaired at the contact's expense. The failure mileage was 71,000 and current mileage was 75,000.

I got my car in 2002 it is a 2001 sonota. When you push the gas to pull out in front of traffic this car doesn't want to go! I have almost been in several car accidents when I tell the dealership about the problem they tell me nothing is wrong! also if you look at the complaints you will see that the air bag light keeps coming on that is a safety problem in its self.

Received recall for Sonata airbag. After repairs, light went on again, dealer refuse to repair under warranty. There were continuous air bag light illumination. Recall#01v347000.

5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2003

The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle had repairs due to a recall previously but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician stated the failure was due to a defective sensor, and the vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.

6 Air Bag Light On problem

Air bag light goes on without reason while driving. Air bag light stays on until car is brought to the dealer. Even when reset, airbag sometimes goes back on within several weeks of being fixed. Car has been in to dealer 9 times in 3 years for air bag related problems. The last time it was brought in the dealer said we would have to pay over $464 for a new ppd sensor. We are not willing to incur this cost with the history of follow-up failure we have experienced.

7 Air Bag Light On problem

The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated three different times. The contact had the vehicle repaired three times and the previous owner had it repaired once. The contact was informed that his VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id numbers 01v347000 or 02v105000. The current mileage was 103,000 and failure mileage was 12,411.

8 Air Bag Light On problem

Had reported the air bag light being on to my dealer. They "adjusted wires" to make the light go off. The entire damage was to the front of the vehicle. Upon phone call to dealer, I was told this was a "ongoing" problem with Sonata's.
