1 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2011

Fueling problems. On near empty fuel tank the fueling hose will auto shut off after 1 to 2 gallons. I have to repeat start the fueling and it automatically shuts off after entering a gallon or two. Have to gauge when tank is near full which can cause a fuel spill if overestimating and not being fill if underestimating. It seems to happen at pumps that have the newer nozzle. This is the first summer for this problem and it may be caused by the heat with the newer nozzles. .

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

The contact owns a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel would spill out from the filler neck. The failure would occur even if the fuel tank was completely empty. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel lines were too small to allow the fuel to enter the fuel tank. As a result, the fuel system would need to be rebuilt. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 92,000 and the current mileage was 94,000.
