Clunking sound when turning corners, took to mechanic, sub frame rotted through. Unsafe to drive.
Rust underneath engine part of body front passenger side I think this metal support break anytime while driving in rain.
"takata recall" I thought I needed a new inner tie rod on my 2005 Hyundai Sonata. When I went to the shop the mechanic told me you have bigger problems. " your sub-frame on this car is rusted out and the car is unsafe to drive. " with that information, I called the Hyundai support number, they gave me a reference number, I then went to the Hyundai dealership to get an estimate for repairs and to see if Hyundai would repair the subframe. The dealership told me that Hyundai corporation refused to pay any goodwill money to fix the car but they did tell me, " our advice: " is to not drive the car, it is unsafe. " this is not a mechanical issue this is a safety issue, and even though I did not find any recalls for 2005 subframe, it was obvious that Hyundai knew they did have a slew of Sonatas that had a serious subframe corrosion problem. In my bit of research, there has been a definite problem with the Sonatas and the subframe rotting out, all different years and mileage and age that Hyundai did repair the cars that I found on edmonds. Com and on the internet.
Takata recall subframe is rotted. Mechanic advised not to drive it as it is very unsafe. Car has less than 60,000 miles on it.
I own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata GLS. While driving down the freeway at 70 mph the car suddenly became hard to control, as in it started pulling extremely hard to the right. I had to drive home with the steering wheel cocked to the left in order to go straight. I brought it into the shop thinking it needed an alignment - both front tires were tilted in at the top - what I found out was that the subframe was rusted in half. It seems very shady to me that there is a recall for this exact problem for pretty much every year except 2005. This is the same model as the 2004 and it was manufactured that year as well. *also, the trim on the car, which is what makes it more expensive, is constantly coming off while I'm driving. The silver trim around the passenger window flew off on the tollway. The driver's window trim came off due to ice - it was replaced by a body shop, but later flew off on the tollway as well. The trim on all four doors is now bolted on as that kept falling off too. *also, there is significant rust right above the top of the windshield to the point that it will soon be raining in my car.
I just failed inspection due to hole rusted thru subframe.
I was driving home just like everyday from work. All of a sudden when I got off the high way it felt like my car was an airplane trying to take off. . Well it turns out I have a bad motor. There were no signs no nothing. I could have been in a worst place. I do not have any where near the mileage that I should for my motor to just go.
About two years ago the chrome plating on the interior door handles started to peel off, resulting in hazardous sharp edges being formed. Since then it has only gotten worse and everyone in my family has recieved at least one cut or laceration from these sharp edges. Yesterday (03/02/2014) as I was getting out of my vehicle I recieved a cut on my hand about an inch long and a quarter inch deep. It required stiches to close the open wound. I know that Hyundai has issued recalls for this same exact problem on their 2003-2004 models. Clearly my 2005 needs to be included in this recall.
I had come to a complete stop attempting to merge into traffic, as I pressed on accelerator, I felt it go down under my foot, thus hiting the right rear bumper of the car in front of me. This was the first time. The second time happened in January. 2012. I was turning into my parking spot, and I had softly braked. And as I pressed on the acceleator, and like the first time, I felt the accelerator go down beneath my foot, without pressing too hard. I ran into my apartment, and caused a good deal of damage to it. As well as my car. I have not had an incident since, but I remain scared that it will happen again. I took vehicle to oxmoor Hyundai, in louisville, and could not find find anything wrong, and I had to pay just under $100. 00 to tell me this. And my auto insurance went up drastically.
I don't have VIN on hand. When I go for gas everytime, the gas clicks off and gas pours onto ground. If I hold the lever to study the flow it still spills. Called Hyundai, they deny this problem. Talked to many owners all have same problem. This is a hazard to the environment. Gas on ground. Plus the gas remains on the fender. If there was to be a cigarette thrown out of another moving car or spark the car would explode. I think it is time that Hyundai take responsibility and do a recall. Their contention is to wait til I blow up on fire before they would do nothing. Even then they would deny the problem. Something must be done. Thank you, dottie.
The exterior paint on the door handles came off both the drivers side and the passenger side. . The metal wrapping of the interior door handles became dangerously sharp, and cut me on my finger. This all happened around 2009. Since then the interior cloth header has come loose from the roof, and is now hanging.
